Amanda Bynes Reunites with Fiancé Paul Michael Following Breakup

Update (3/10) - Just one day after it was confirmed that the former actor and her fiancé of just three several weeks had called off their engagement, Amanda returned to Instagram with a photo that may prove otherwise. "My love," she captioned a selfie of her and Paul Michael on Monday evening.

In a interview, Paul has claimed they never ended their three-week engagement after Amanda sparked split speculation by deleting their photos from Instagram. Paul said that their Instagram accounts were hacked and their photos were deleted. He also claimed the hackers responded to direct messages, adding: “We’re enjoying being engaged. We’ll let the world know when we have a date set.”

Out of respect to Amanda and Paul, I won't be updating this post much going forward. Amanda's mental health and well being is top priority, and it wouldn't be fair to speculate given the circumstances.

Update (3/8) - Amanda Bynes and her fiancé, Paul Michael, have split and ended their engagement, In Touch has learnt. “We did,” Paul told In Touch, confirming their breakup. “I love her though, she’s my best friend.”

Split rumors started swirling after the 33-year-old deleted every photo of Paul, including their engagement announcement, from her Instagram page. “Engaged to tha [sic] love of my life,” the former Nickelodeon star wrote in the caption of a photo of her gorgeous ring featuring her man’s hand in the background, which was posted on February 14, Valentine's Day, after meeting in rehab.

Update (3/9) - Amanda Bynes has reportedly been ordered to enter a psychiatric facility amid ongoing concern for her mental health. The news comes just after her now ex-fiancé Paul Michael confirmed over the weekend that they have called off their 3-week engagement. According to sources who spoke to The Blast, the former Nickelodeon star, her family, and Michael met for a conservatorship hearing last week, during which a judge ordered Bynes seek professional treatment. During the meeting, details of the actress' and Michael's engagement and her current mental state were discussed.

Although Bynes was reportedly allowed to leave the hearing, having promised that she would voluntarily check herself into the live-in facility over the weekend, the actress is now reportedly refusing to do so. According to sources, Bynes "never showed up" to the facility and she is "refusing to cooperate."

At this time, it remains unclear what further steps will be taken. Her family is now reportedly encouraging her to follow through with her promise to voluntarily check herself into the facility.

The sources add that the situation has been taxing on Michael, who was "freaked out" after hearing the details discussed in the Thursday hearing and is currently "freaking out now" after realizing how poor her current mental health is. The hearing also reportedly shed light on many of the details of her life Bynes had told him, which were not actually happening.

Michael is now said to be worried how about how the ordeal may be a threat to his sobriety and does not wish to do anything "that would get him in trouble with the judge or others in this case." He doesn't want to be blamed for Bynes' current mental state. The sources claim that this partially contributed to the decision to end their engagement.

Concern over Bynes' mental health has been growing in recent weeks, with fans citing concern over her well-being following her quick engagement to Michael, whom she had reportedly only been dating for "several months." Prior to that, fans expressed worry after she debuted her first face tattoo.

When Amanda announced her engagement, a source told E! News that "Amanda's parents are fully aware of her engagement and at this point are not approving Amanda to legally get married under the conservatorship."

Additionally, the actress' mother has been managing her affairs and finances since she underwent personal and legal turmoil that landed her in rehab several years ago. The conservatorship is reportedly set to last until August.

Just last week, she took to Instagram and revealed she was "celebrating being sober a year and two months!"

She had complained on Instagram last month about the cost of her mental health treatment and said she had asked to speak to a judge about her conservatorship.

"Amanda is really upset about [the breakup] and not taking it well at all," a source told Us Weekly late Sunday. "Paul realized the relationship just couldn’t go forward because of the obstacles of the conservatorship and Amanda must live at a sober living facility."

Aside from the infrequent social media post, very little is known publicly about Bynes' personal life these days. Last year she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise [FIDM] and moved into a sober living facility to continue focusing on her health. But this past December, E! News reported that Bynes left the facility and had dropped out of a FIDM bachelor's degree program she enrolled in.

"She's not doing drugs and mentally and physically she's okay," a source told E! News at the time, explaining that Amanda was "open to getting help" if needed.

Around that time, Amanda also revealed that she got a tattoo of a heart on her cheek.

The All That, The Amanda Show and She's the Man star detailed her history of drug abuse in a 2018 interview with Paper magazine. In what marked one of the only times she's openly discussed her private turmoil, Amanda recalled feeling like she had "no purpose in life" after retiring from acting.

From there, Amanda said she began "hanging out with a seedier crowd and I isolated a lot... I got really into my drug usage and it became a really dark, sad world for me."

Congratulations on your engagement, Amanda! :)

Update (2/17): The identity of Amanda Bynes' mysterious finance has been revealed. His name is Paul Michael — a man Bynes reportedly met while in rehab. Bynes surprised her fans on Valentine's Day by announcing their engagement on Instagram, and shared a picture of Michael's face on Saturday. While she made the announcement on Friday, fans have also since speculated she's been engaged for quite some time as a previous photo showed her wearing the ring.

On Friday night, Bynes posted a photo of her hand on a man's hand, with her giant diamond engagement ring front and center. "Engaged to tha love of my life," the former Nickelodeon star, 33, wrote in the caption.

Hours later, she shared another photo, showing Michael standing behind her. "Lover," was all she wrote in the caption.

Michael's identity remained a mystery for hours, until E! News confirmed his identity. A source told the outlet the two met when she was in rehab and they started dating about two to three months ago. The outlet adds that the engagement is real.

Sources told The Blast Bynes' family has been told about the engagement, but she cannot legally marry Michael without a judge signing off on it. She is still under a conservatorship headed by her parents, and the site's sources said Bynes might not have been aware of this when she said yes to Michael.

Michael is in his 20s and is still in school, according to The Blast. He lives in the San Fernando Valley area with his family and has connections to the entertainment world, as his brother reportedly appeared in a reality show about cars. His father is a "prominent doctor" in Los Angeles.

In early December, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Bynes checked out of a sober living facility and was temporarily living with her parents while she searched for a place to live on her own. The Blast reported around the same time that Bynes' parents rushed to court because they wanted a judge's approval to get Bynes more treatment because they feared she would go back to using drugs.

After she left the sober living facility, a source told E! News she was "open to getting help." The source said Bynes was "not doing drugs again," but her sobriety is still "always the concern."

Last year, Bynes earned an associate's degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise, but dropped out while working on her bachelor's degree. In a Feb. 7 post, Bynes shared a mirror selfie showing herself wearing a California State Polytechnic University, Pomona shirt, hinting that she might be attending the school.

On Dec. 30, Bynes revealed she got the outline of a heart tattooed on her right cheek. Follow-up selfies confirmed it is a permanent face tattoo.
