UK Choristers Bring 'A Night on Broadway' Back to Singletary Center April 2

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky Choristers’ popular "A Night on Broadway" returns this year to the Singletary Center for the Arts on Saturday, April 2, for two performances only. “A Night on Broadway: Brand New Day!" will give audiences the chance to see the UK Choristers perform some of their favorite showtunes with a fresh new twist.

Follow the UK Choristers on their musical journey through time, with an animated collection of Broadway’s greatest tunes. This year’s theme song, "Brand New Day," taken from the musical The Wiz, will feature a wide variety of musical theatre favorites — from Nickelodeon’s Tony-nominated SpongeBob SquarePants Musical, Disney’s Frozen, and Rogers and Hammerstein’s classic musical Carousel.

“'A Night on Broadway' is a favorite of both our singers and patrons alike,” said Professor Beth Wilson, director of UK Choristers. “The talent is rich this year, and we are excited about the variety presented in this program. We are so looking forward to delighting our audience once again.”

"A Night on Broadway: Brand New Day" will take center stage at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 2, in the Singletary Center for the Arts Recital Hall. Tickets are $10 for students, $15 for adults/UK staff and faculty and $25 for VIP admission, which includes reserved parking. Tickets may be purchased online at or by calling the Singletary Center box office at 859-257-4929. Visit the website for more information.

The oldest performing organization on campus, UK Choristers represents a wide variety of majors. The 80-voice mixed choir of undergraduates specializes in choral repertoire of all periods and styles, both a cappella and accompanied. In addition to its own concerts, the ensemble performs a major work each year with the UK Symphony Orchestra and has also been featured with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra in the “Unplugged and Untied” concert series. The Choristers perform regularly on and off campus, as well as tour frequently throughout the region.

UK Choristers are part of the UK School of Music at the UK College of Fine Arts. The school has garnered a national reputation for high-caliber education in opera, choral and instrumental music performance, as well as music education, music therapy, composition, and theory and music history.

The University of Kentucky is increasingly the first choice for students, faculty and staff to pursue their passions and their professional goals. In the last two years, Forbes has named UK among the best employers for diversity, and INSIGHT into Diversity recognized us as a Diversity Champion four years running. UK is ranked among the top 30 campuses in the nation for LGBTQ* inclusion and safety. UK has been judged a “Great College to Work for" three years in a row, and UK is among only 22 universities in the country on Forbes' list of "America's Best Employers."  We are ranked among the top 10 percent of public institutions for research expenditures — a tangible symbol of our breadth and depth as a university focused on discovery that changes lives and communities. And our patients know and appreciate the fact that UK HealthCare has been named the state’s top hospital for five straight years. Accolades and honors are great. But they are more important for what they represent: the idea that creating a community of belonging and commitment to excellence is how we honor our mission to be not simply the University of Kentucky, but the University for Kentucky.
