'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Rumored To Be Getting a Preschool Series Spinoff

A new rumor suggests Avatar Studios is developing an animated series aimed at preschoolers, set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Avatar Studios is hard at work creating several spinoff and sequel projects expanding the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. One of those projects is an animated series aimed at pre-schoolers, according to a new rumors.

Avatar News recently reported that Avatar Studios aims to release the show sometime in 2026. No word yet as to when the series is set or if it will even be canon to the rest of the iconic franchise. The project will follow the previously reported Earth Avatar series set to premiere in 2025. Neither of these has been officially announced by Avatar Studios.

While both Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra were targeted towards kids, they pushed the envelope in their exploration or representation of several topics and real-world events. The closest the franchise has come in terms of projects aimed at much younger demographics, was the "Super Deformed Shorts" collection that arrived with the DVD set for Avatar: The Last Airbender's second season, "Book 2: Earth." These shorts were non-canon parodies drawn in the chibi style.

What Else Does Avatar Studios Have in Store?

Some time after Avatar Studios itself was established, co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino teased the team had decades worth of stories to tell and a variety of projects to expand the unique fantasy world. Speaking on the official podcast, Avatar: Braving the Elements, DiMartino explained, "We're overseeing the whole franchise, so it's going to take a while before new stuff starts percolating out there." They added that a "very ambitious, multi-tiered" plan for the franchise, tapping into the rich history and future of the Avatar world.

Since then, there have only been unconfirmed reports, save for the announced return of the original Team Avatar in the studios' first feature film. The film will see Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph and more as adults, exploring events and a story following the events of the iconic Last Airbender series. But while the film has been confirmed, there have been no details released concerning casting, plot and the like.

There has also been word concerning a film centered on Zuko, with actor Dante Basco returning to voice the former exiled prince. Once again, this has not been confirmed by either the actor or Paramount and Nickelodeon. The project has not been officially announced and no other details have yet been revealed.
