‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season Two Adds Mapuana Makia and Angela Najjar To Cast

The main cast for the second season of Netflix's live-action reimagining of Avatar: The Last Airbender has been long assembled, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still new characters to be discovered. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve learned of two new faces you’ll be seeing in the show, which just recently wrapped production and will be commencing filming again for the third and final season shortly.

As you may remember, the major new cast announcements came back late last year with the streamer confirming several major new names joining season 2 in the Earth Kingdom. To recap, those new names included Miya Cech as Toph Beifong, Chin Han as Long Feng, Justin Chien as King Kuei, Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee, Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong, Kelemete Misipeka as The Boulder, Hoa Xuande as Professor Zei, Lourdes Faberes as General Sung, and Rekha Sharma as Amita.

It is being reported that Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series has added two new names to its cast for season two.

Upcoming actor Angela Najjar has been cast in the fan-favorite role of Jin, who featured in the original animated series on Nickeodeon. First introduced in "The Tales of Ba Sing Se", Jin is part of the Earth Kingdom and is a refugee of the Hundred-Year War and notably develops a crush on Zuko in the series.

Najjar hasn’t appeared in any major productions but has appeared in many local stage productions in Thailand and Lebanon, such as Journey to Bethlehem and Matilda. She is 18, half-Lebanese and half-Thai, fluent in four languages, and proficient in martial arts.

Hawaiian-born actress Mapuana Makia, known for her role as Noelani Nakayama in Disney’s Doogie Kamealoha, M.D., will appear in a recurring guest star role in season two of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender. Although her character has not been revealed, Makia is expected to portray a recurring character. Makia is the second Hawaiian or Samoan actor to join the cast following Kelemete Misipeka, who was previously announced as The Boulder.

The new names come from Knight Edge Media, which has been on top of all things Avatar: The Last Airbender over the past few years, including the Netflix live-action series and animated titles currently in the works.

In the original series, during the anthology episode “Tales of Ba Sing Se,” Zuko meets an Earth Kingdom girl, Jin, who asks him on a date. It’s a small part of the episode, but the character became an instant fan favorite, with many wishing Zuko ended up with her instead of Mai. Other parts of the episode include Aang creating a zoo, Toph getting a girly makeover with Katara, and Iroh mourning the death of his son, Lew Ten.

Netflix added a version of Iroh honoring Lew Ten with his funeral scene in season one, playing the "Leaves From The Vine" instrumental music in the background. Najjar revealed on Instagram that she traveled to Vancouver during production earlier this year.

The outlet also reports that Victor Lau (Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies) is set to appear in episode four in a minor role, while Tina Pham (Invasion) will have a small role in the season finale.

The new additions join returning cast members Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Elizabeth Yu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Daniel Dae Kim, Momona Tamada and Thalia Tran.

Filming on season two wrapped up sometime in late March, although none of the cast or crew associated with the show has shared any pictures or information on that exact wrap date. What we do know is that the show now goes into a small hiatus before picking up filming again on May 26th and then runs through to at least November 7th, 2025.

Avatar: The Last Airbender season two is expected to return to our screens in 2026.
