Avatar Legends RPG on Kickstarter Aug 3rd!
Albuquerque, NM–July 12, 2021: Magpie Games will launch a Kickstarter on August 3rd of this year for Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game—a tabletop RPG set in the world of Nickelodeon’s animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra—to be published March 22, 2022.
Magpie Games announced earlier this year they had secured a multi-year licensing agreement with ViacomCBS Consumer Products to produce the roleplaying game. Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game will be the first release with two supplements to follow in August 2022 and February 2023.

The Kickstarter will run from August 3rd through September 2nd, serving as a pre-order mechanism for the direct-to-consumer market while announcing the game and making it accessible to fans of Avatar that may have not yet tried a tabletop RPG.
Fans can enjoy a sneak peek of the game by downloading the free Avatar Legends: The RPG Quickstart through www.magpiegames.com/avatarrpg. The quickstart contains all the material needed to try the game, including a new adventure featuring six pre-generated heroes!
Magpie Games is proud to feature the work of a diverse team of designers and writers for Avatar Legends: The RPG, including Asian-American and Indigenous contributors who have been working on the game since late 2020.
“One of the best parts of working on Avatar Legends: The RPG is getting to dive into all the rich details of this complex world and seeing how each era impacts the next,” says Yeonsoo Julian Kim, one of the contributing designers and writers. “I’m excited for players to tell stories that explore what their characters personally value, as well as how those values fit into the larger picture of the world’s history. "Join your friends in a unique opportunity to return to a beloved setting—this time as the heroes of the story! Rising to meet their destiny, players will make characters using playbooks—templates that help players build and play compelling protagonists in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. In Avatar Legends: The RPG, you and your friends might protect local merchants from the Triple Threat Triad in Republic City, travel through a spirit portal to rescue a child taken into the Spirit World, negotiate peace between feuding communities within the Earth Kingdom, or pursue mysteries (and villains) that arise throughout their adventures!"
Avatar Legends; The RPG uses the Powered by the Apocalypse game engine, similar to many of Magpie Games’ other products, such as Masks: A New Generation, Bluebeard’s Bride, and Urban Shadows.
About Avatar: The Last Airbender
Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender emerged from its three-season run (61 episodes), from February 2005 to July 2008, as one of the most beloved animated properties in history. Honored with a Peabody Award and Primetime Emmy, along with multiple Annie Awards and Genesis Awards, the series follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating Fire Lord Ozai and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.

The Legend of Korra launched in April 2012 on Nickelodeon and ran for four seasons (52 episodes). The series ranked as basic cable’s number-one kids’ show in its first season, drawing 3.8 million viewers per episode, the highest for an animated series that year. Created and executive produced by DiMartino and Konietzko, The Legend of Korra is translated into more than 25 languages for Nickelodeon-branded channels internationally. The property has translated into a successful ongoing graphic novel series written by TV series co-creator DiMartino. The first graphic novel storyline, Legend of Korra: Turf Wars, has captured various top 10 sales spots across children’s fiction, YA science fiction, and graphic novel categories since its debut in 2017.
