Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Spirit Aang Gets A Glow-In-The-Dark Funko Pop

Avatar: The Last Airbender fans can now add an Aang from the Spirit World to their Funko collections. Even better, he glows in the dark!

Aang's spirit form from Avatar: The Last Airbender gets a cool glow-in-the-dark Funko Pop in honor of Earth Day. The past year has seen Nickelodeon's beloved animated series get a surge of popularity thanks to its debut on Paramount+ and Netflix. With fans old and new flocking to the beloved animated series, Avatar became one of Netflix's biggest kids' show of 2020. This also led to Nickelodeon establishing Avatar Studios, a division dedicated to creating original content set within the Last Airbender world. The first project is expected to be an animated movie, with production kicking off later this year.

Even before Nickelodeon made an entire studio dedicated to the series, Avatar helped create all kinds of new stories. It received a sequel show, The Legend of Korra, four years after it ended its run, and there have been multiple graphic novels centered on Team Avatar's post-series adventures. Additionally, Netflix is still in the process of developing its own live-action Avatar series, though progress has been slow. Last summer, Avatar's original creators departed Netflix's project, casting some doubt on the rest of the proceedings.

Just a few weeks after Avatar received a slew of new Funko Pop figures, an exclusive Aang Pop has been released courtesy of BoxLunch. The figure depicts Aang as he is when he visits the Spirit World, meaning he's created in a blueish hue and is striking a meditative pose. What makes the figure even more special is that he glows in the dark. Check him out down below.

Aang's Spirit World adventures are a major part of the Avatar universe, so it's fitting that this form should receive a special Funko Pop figure. The most recent collection of Avatar Funko Pops included one with Aang wielding all four elements; it's safe to say he's now the character to receive the most variations when it comes to his Funkos. That's fitting since, after all, he is the titular last airbender.

Aang's story has been covered pretty thoroughly, from Avatar to the graphic novels to The Legend of Korra. Netflix's series is looking to center on Aang, but it remains to be seen whether anything from Avatar Studios will. At the very least, it seems likely that the projects will reference him in some capacity, particularly if they choose to focus on Avatars that come before or after him. In short, Aang will probably remain an important figure in the Avatar world for some time. Good thing he's such a beloved character!

New 'iCarly' Logo Unveiled?

Fans rejoiced last December when it was announced that Paramount+, the new streaming service from ViacomCBS, would be reviving Nickelodeon's iconic live-action comedy iCarly for an older audience, and now it looks like we've got our first look at the new iCarly logo!

As part of ViacomCBS' Q1 2021 earnings call presentation, the parent company of Nickelodeon and Paramount+ released a slide about how the company is leaning into its streaming content strategy. The slide features kids content from Nickelodeon, including the Paramount+ exclusives Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under YearsThe SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, the upcoming Rugrats reboot, and iCarly!

The picture for iCarly features the recently released cast photo for the rebooted series, along with what appears to be the show's new logo, which seems to be an app icon.

Although its not confirmed that this is the new iCarly logo, or even the finalized one, the new design does fit in with the show's new mature approach. The 13-episode season picks up nearly 10 years after the original show ended, and finds Carly Shay, the original influencer, and her friends navigating work, love and their family in their twenties.

The new iCarly series will feature two new cast members: Laci Mosley (Florida Girls) as Harper, Carly’s roommate and best friend; and Jaidyn Triplett (The AffairSee) as Millicent, Freddie’s snarky and social media-savvy stepdaughter. Mosley and Triplett will appear alongside returning original series stars, Miranda Cosgrove (Carly), Jerry Trainor (Spencer) and Nathan Kress (Freddie).

Nickelodeon’s original iCarly series, which ran from 2007-2012, followed a group of best friends as they created a webcast for and about kids their age while grappling with everyday problems and adventures. During its initial run, iCarly became a pop-culture staple and regularly broke viewership records among audiences of all ages. The original iCarly series was created by Dan Schneider.

The new iCarly series is produced by Nickelodeon Studios and Awesomeness (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Trinkets, PEN15). The pilot is written by Ali Schouten (Diary of a Future President, Champions, Merry Happy Whatever), who also serves as executive producer, and Jay Kogen (Nickelodeon’s School of Rock, The Simpsons, Frasier). Miranda Cosgrove also serves as executive producer, with Jerry Trainor and Alissa Vradenburg serving as producers. The pilot is directed and executive produced by Phill Lewis (One Day at a Time, The Neighborhood). Production on the new original series based on the hit sitcom, iCarly, for Paramount+ commenced earlier this year in Los Angeles and is slated to premiere on the service this summer.

First Look at 'Meet the Voxels', Nickelodeon's New Live-Action Animated Comedy Series

Chris Young, who most recently served as Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab, has unveiled a super first look at the pilot of Nickelodeon's upcoming live-action animated comedy series, Meet the Voxels!

Nickelodeon originally announced the development of Meet the Voxels (working title), an original TV, virtual reality and augmented reality series conceived by Young in August 2018. The series follows an African-American and Latinx family where everyone is from a different video game.

Meet the Voxels takes kids behind the scenes of a video game world and follows a family of video-game characters, the Voxels, on their adventures on-and-off-duty. When the project was first announced, the family members were named: Hunter, the 13-year-old star of a laser-tag video game; Maude, a 16-year-old girl fighting to pop as many bubbles as she can; their younger brother Cody who has not found his video game calling yet; Mom, a popular street fighter in her game; and Dad, a 90’s-era classic console game character who quit the business years ago. There are also characters named Dune and Pyra. It's currently unknown whether any of these details have changed since the property was originally announced. Surprisingly, the pilot features a laugh track.

The animated sitcom, created in a game engine, marks a first for Nickelodeon in its use of cutting-edge virtual cinema technology, including real-time full body and facial performance capture, bringing an innovative approach to immersive storytelling. Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab is the network’s division established to spearhead long-range research and development around emerging platforms and new technology. Meet the Voxels is being developed to air across Nickelodeon’s channels globally.

The pilot for Meet the Voxels was executive produced by Young and written by Jana Petrosini (Henry Danger, Kid Danger, Game Shakers) and Sean Gill (Henry Danger, Kid Danger, Game Shakers).

The 22-minute pilot of Meet the Voxels was a first of its kind. To produce the episode, Young utilized Unreal Engine and rendered real-time using full body and facial performance capture.  From creation of the IP to design and implementation of all aspects of the workflow, this project also included a vertical slice for a multiplayer battle royale game that leveraged production assets. This show and it’s innovative animation process delivered a full creative stack that moved the needle on Nickelodeon’s development and production requirements.

In addition to images, Young has also unveiled a behind-the-scenes video clip from the making of the pilot episode of Meet the Voxels, which gives viewers a glimpse on how actors used motion capture suits for the animation, as well as footage from a game based on the property titled "Zero Chill". At Nickelodeon, Young was behind many of Nickelodeon's new-gen entertainment experiences for kids including: SlimeZone, a multi-player social VR experience that allows kids and families the opportunity to interact in a Nickelodeon-designed virtual world; The Loud House 360, an original video where viewers can explore the madness of the Loud family household from all angles; and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles LIVE VR Interview Experience, a virtual reality experience that immerses users in the Turtles’ iconic New York City world and allows them to have a conversation with Mikey or Donnie, voiced on the scene by the actors who play the roles. The Turtles experience debuted at San Diego Comic Con 2018. In addition to overseeing a team of artists and engineers focused on real-time animation technologies, Young also designed, built and managed a state-of-the-art virtual stage equipped for full-body motion capture and location-based virtual reality development, and conceived the concept and produced the prototype for Nickelodeon's top-rated Do Not Touch AR app.

Young also designed the animation pipeline and supervised real-time facial performance capture, clean-up, retargeting and key-frame animation for Project85, Nickelodeon’s first attempt at producing real-time animation in Unreal Engine. He also identified, hired and managed animation service providers, led design reviews, communicated updates to development and production teams, created and produced VR & AR companion story experiences. Project '85 was shown by Epic Games CEO and Founder, Tim Sweeney at GDC during his keynote speech.

Machine Gun Kelly Covers the 'SpongeBob' Theme Song at Recent Concert

Machine Gun Kelly delivered a rendition of the iconic SpongeBob SquarePants theme tune during a recent live performance – watch the footage below!

The Ohio rapper, who released his new song ‘Love Race’ last week, took to the stage in his hometown of Cleveland on Saturday (May 1) for the NFL Draft‘s final round.

Performing a 17-song set, MGK took a moment in the middle of the concert to lead the crowd through an acapella version of the SpongeBob theme song, in which he encouraged the audience to join in. Unfortunately, he forgot quite a few of the lyrics:

The unexpected break was followed by live airings of ‘Forget Me Too’ and ‘Lonely’, both of which were played solo on acoustic guitar.

The nod to the animated Nickelodeon series came after Machine Gun Kelly was pictured donning SpongeBob socks – check out the photos in the below tweet.

Nickelodeon Reportedly Shuts NickHits SVOD Service on Amazon, Roku and Apple TV

Nickelodeon has reportedly closed down NickHits, with the Nickelodeon-branded streaming service being removed from Amazon, Roku and Apple TV's channel stores. The news comes as ViacomCBS is bulking up its newly launched Paramount+ streaming service with Nickelodeon content.

Launched during early 2019, NickHits was Nickelodeon's SVOD service geared towards older kids. The channel was available as part of Prime Video Channels, however, non-Prime members could subscribe for $7.99/month (with a 7-day free trial).

The service featured a wide selection of programming from Nickelodeon's vast content library, most of which has now been added to Paramount Plus. Programming included: 11 seasons of SpongeBob SquarePants, iCarly, Bella and the Bulldogs, RugratsAvatar The Last Airbender, AAAHH!!! Real MonstersHenry Danger, Victorious, The Legend of Korra, Fairly OddParents, Game Shakers, Zoey 101Big Time Rush, Sam & Cat, House of Anubis (SIBUNA!), Kenan & Kel, All Grown Up!, TMNT Half Shell Heroes: Blast to the Past, Dora and Friends: Into the City, The Other Kingdom, Monsters Vs. On Amazon, it seems that a lot of the content is still available as part of the Paramount+ add-on.

ViacomCBS is currently in the process of expanding the Paramount+ library. When Paramount+ first launched in early March, its content library was already impressive with 7,000 episodes of classic Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. shows. Because so many of these Nickelodeon shows were already available to stream on Paramount+, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that NickHits is no longer around.

Beginning in June, Paramount+ will offer a $4.99 ad-supported tier, replacing the $5.99 tier. So, you can save a couple of bucks and get access to additional content by using Paramount+ to catch your favorite Nickelodeon shows. 

Some Nickelodeon shows, including Drake & Josh and Jimmy Neutron are available to stream on Hulu and were not on NickHits. For now, those titles don’t seem to be moving over to Paramount+.

Nickelodeon Becomes Number One Kids Channel in Portugal; Nick Jr. Records Record Ratings in the Country

ViacomCBS Networks International's (VCNI) Europe, Middle East, Africa & Asia (EMEAA) has announced the fantastic news that Nickelodeon became the number one children's channel in Portugal in April 2021, gaining an audience share of 7.65%! The ratings were fuelled by The Thundermans (Os Thundermans), SpongeBob SquarePantsThe Loud House (Loud em Casa), It's Pony (É o Pónei) and new show Side Hustle! Additionally, the Nick Jr. channel received its highest ratings ever in April, reaching five place with a 1.33 audience share!

Families can also meet and have their photo taken with PAW Patrol’s Chase and Marshall located at first floor opposite Build a Bear.

Adventure Bay, Activity Area

• The activation will run from 6th of May till 15th of May, 2021.
• Adventure Bay activity area will run from 12pm to 9pm every day, on a first come first served basis during the activation period.
• Adventure Bay activity area can be enjoyed by kids aged 3 years old and above.
• Max capacity of every session will be limited because of Covid-19.
• Parents and their children should be wearing face masks.
• All areas will have one staff member ensuring the social distancing, cleaning, and sanitizing of all the tables, benches and props. At the entrance, the number of kids permitted entry is limited to 4. Each area will be closed for 5 minutes every hour to be sanitized.
• All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. The Operator does not accept responsibility for the supervision of children.
• Parents are not allowed inside the activity area, but they are kindly advised to stay close, monitor their children and pick them up when they finish all activities in about 15 minutes.
• Children should wash their hands before entering Adventure Bay activities area.
• No sharp objects may be taken into the area.
• No food, drink or chewing gum should be taken into the activity area.
• Activity items should not be thrown at each other.
• Fighting or bullying will not be tolerated. Guilty parties will be asked to leave.

Nickelodeon’s brand-new and highly anticipated preschool series, Baby Shark’s Big Show!, is set to make a splash when it premieres on Monday, 17 May at 9am (AEST) on Nick Jr. Australia.

Co-produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio and SmartStudy, the global entertainment company behind the beloved children’s brand Pinkfong, the series follows Baby Shark and his best friend William as they journey on fun-filled comedic adventures in their community of Carnivore Cove, make new friends and sing original catchy tunes along the way.

“With Baby Shark’s Big Show!, the Nickelodeon Animation Studio team has taken the most popular song on the planet and created a whole new world of characters,” said Eryk Casemiro, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Preschool. “It’s a series that celebrates family, friends and adventure through comedy, catchy songs and stories of social-emotional learning.”

Baby Shark’s Big Show! features a swim-sational lineup of voice actors including: Kimiko Glenn (Orange is the New Black), as Baby Shark; Luke Youngblood (Glitch TechsHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone), as William; Natasha Rothwell (Insecure), as Mommy Shark; Eric Edelstein (We Bare Bears), as Daddy Shark; Debra Wilson (MADtv), as Grandma Shark; and Patrick Warburton (Tak & the Power of Juju, The X's, Rules of Engagement, Seinfeld, Family Guy), as Grandpa Shark.

The series is executive produced by Gary DiRaffaele (Breadwinners) and Tommy Sica (Breadwinners), with Whitney Ralls (My Little Pony: Equestria Girls) serving as co-executive producer. The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif., with production overseen by Eryk Casemiro, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Preschool.

[스포츠조선 조지영 기자] 글로벌 콘텐츠 기업 스마트스터디가 세계 최대 규모 키즈 엔터테인먼트 채널 니켈로디언(Nickelodeon)과 공동 제작한 2D 애니메이션 시리즈 '베이비샤크 빅 쇼(Baby Shark's Big Show!)'를 전 세계로 확대 방영한다.

'베이비샤크 빅 쇼'는 지난 8일(현지시각) 영국, 17일 호주, 오는 24일 이탈리아 등 유럽과 오세아니아의 닉 주니어(Nick Jr.) 채널에서 방영되며, 올해 하반기 한국에서 공개될 계획이다. 뿐만 아니라 동남아시아, 남미, 중동, 아프리카에도 순차 방영되는 등 전 세계로 무대를 넓혀 글로벌 시청자들의 시선을 사로잡을 예정이다.

지난 3월 26일 미국 니켈로디언 채널에서 최초 공개된 '베이비샤크 빅 쇼'는 오픈과 동시에 미국 현지에서 뜨거운 인기를 얻고 있다. 방영 첫날 2~5세 유·아동 시청률 1위(닐슨, 전미 지역 기준)에 오른 데 이어, 니켈로디언·닉 주니어 채널에서 누적 시청자 1100만명을 기록했다. 높은 시청률에 힘입어 올 하반기에도 니켈로디언 채널에서 매주 금요일 낮 12시 30분, 닉 주니어 채널에서 주 3회 방영될 예정으로, 새로운 에피소드를 선보이며 롱런을 이어갈 계획이다.

'베이비샤크 빅 쇼'는 아기상어가 가족 및 친구들과 용감하게 바다 세상을 헤쳐 나가는 이야기를 그린 애니메이션 시리즈로, 약 30분 분량의 에피소드 26편으로 구성됐다. 지난해 12월 공개된 크리스마스 스페셜 영상에 이어, 새로운 캐릭터와 세계관, 신나는 음악 등 키즈 엔터테인먼트 요소를 강화해 시청자 폭을 확장하는 데 초점을 뒀다.

바닷속 마을을 배경으로 펼쳐지는 상어가족과 물고기들의 다채로운 모험을 통해 배려와 존중, 친절 등 삶의 중요한 가치를 자연스럽게 학습하도록 했으며, 매 에피소드마다 오케스트라와 신시사이저, K-POP 등의 음악이 어우러져 이야기 몰입을 돕고 부모와 아이가 함께 즐길 수 있도록 기획했다.

La série composée de 26 épisodes sera distribuée progressivement en Australie, Europe, Asie du Sud-Est, Amérique du Sud, Amérique centrale et Afrique. Elle sera dévoilée en Corée du Sud au deuxième semestre.

Lancée en mars dernier sur la chaîne américaine spécialisée, «Baby Shark's Big Show!» a connu un grand succès en se plaçant en tête du classement des émissions les plus regardées par les 2-5 ans dès le premier jour.

Kim Min-seok, PDG de Smart Study, a déclaré «être heureux de présenter "Baby Shark's Big Show!", une collaboration avec Nickelodeon, non seulement aux Etats-Unis mais aussi au monde entier».

La vidéo pour enfants de Pinkfong «Baby Shark Dance» est devenue la vidéo la plus regardée sur YouTube en novembre denier. Elle a enregistré plus de 8,5 milliards de vues depuis sa mise en ligne en juin 2016.

Seúl, 17 de mayo (Yonhap) -- La serie de animación infantil surcoreana "Baby Shark's Big Show", de Pink Fong, será transmitida a nivel mundial, ha anunciado, este lunes, la empresa surcoreana SmartStudy.

La firma dijo que la serie, coproducida con el canal global de entretenimiento infantil Nickelodeon, será transmitida gradualmente en Australia, Europa, el Sudeste Asiático, América Latina, Oriente Medio y África. Está previsto que el programa sea desvelado en Corea del Sur durante el segundo semestre de este año.

"Baby Shark's Big Show" es una serie de animación televisiva que cuenta las historias de un tiburón bebé con su familia y amigos que viven en las profundidades del mar.

Cuando el programa fue transmitido por primera vez, en marzo, en Estados Unidos, a través del canal Nickelodeon, registró la mayor audiencia entre el público infantil de 2-5 años de edad, durante su primer día de transmisión.
