Nickelodeon To Premiere Nickelodeon's Brand New "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" TV Series Worldwide From Autumn/Fall 2012

While participating in MIPTV 2012's 'The Global Animation Marketplace: The Big Picture' panel, Nickelodeon Executive Jules Borkent, who is the Senior Vice President of Global Acquisitions and International Programming at Nickelodeon, announced the Nickelodeon News that Nickelodeon will launch and premiere Nickelodeon's brand new CGI-animated "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" television series on Nickelodeon's worldwide channels and markets (Nickelodeon International) from Autumn 2012 (Fall 2012). Jules Borkent (SVP, Global Acquisitions and Intl Programming at Nickelodeon) joined The Global Animation Marketplace, emphasising the importance of animation to Nickelodeon’s content mix – from ‘modern day hero’ SpongeBob SquarePants to Nick’s highly anticipated mutation in progress, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

While participating in MIPTV 2012's 'The Global Animation Marketplace' panel, Jules Borkent talked a lot about Nickelodeon's current and future plans, including that there is now a worldwide Nick Jr. Channel feed, which covers from "Finland to New Zealand", which runs a lot of homegrown Nickelodeon content, such at the Nick Jr. produced series such as "Dora The Explorer", "Bubble Guppies", and "Team Umizoomi", and acquired shows such as "Fifi and the Flowertots" and "Roary the Racing Car". Jules Borkent also confirmed that there is currently a brand new "SpongeBob SquarePants" theatrical movie in the works, which will be released in 2014, and reported that Nickelodeon's brand new "SpongeBob SquarePants" Christmas special, "It's A SpongeBob Christmas!", which will be Nickelodeon's first full-length stop-motion animated special, is "looking really really good", and that Nickelodeon are looking to do even more "new things" with "SpongeBob SquarePants".

Jules Borkent also revealed that Nickelodeon will be unveiling and premiering seven brand new animated series over the next 12-18 months, and that a lot of them will be "really pure, back to the DNA of Nickelodeon" shows. Jules Borkent also stated that Nickelodeon did not currently have any upcoming projects (including shows and movies) that will be in 3D, but Nickelodeon is planning to utilise a lot of CGI in their shows. Nickelodeon does have plans to release more movies through Paramount Pictures, including brand new movies based on brand new IP's (intellectual properties).

Nickelodeon also held the world premiere of Nickelodeon's brand new CGI-animated "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" television series during the MIPTV 2012 Panel session, where Jules Borkent revealed that "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" will be launched worldwide into Nickelodeon's international territories from this Autumn (2012) and showed a preview video clip to the audience of Nickelodeon's brand new animated serialised series "The Legend of Korra".

Jules Borkent also answered the important questions: "After SpongeBob?" and "Why TMNT?" for the panel, and told gave the panels audience some important tips about the best ways to pitch a brand new show to Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. (including locally), which includes making the show "What Nickelodeon is really about".

Jules Borkent also talked about some of Nickelodeon's latest preschool co-productions, including Nick Jr. UK's brand new animated preschool series "Olive the Ostrich" with Blue Zoo, and Nickelodeon's brand new animated preschool series "Tickety Toc", which is being premiered all over the world from this month (April 2012), and revealed that Nickelodeon has a "full flex cg studio" in Burbank, California, USA, to make and produce Nickelodeon's CGI series'.

Jules Borkent also revealed Nickelodeon's "shopping list" for the market for looking for brand new shows for Nickelodeon's future, which includes "6 to 9 animation comedy".

MIP TV 2012's 'The Global Animation Marketplace' panel also featured Kay Benbow, who is the current Controller of CBeebies in the UK, Amandine Cassi from Eurodata, and Michael Carrington, who is the Chief Content Officer, EMEA at Turner Broadcasting System Europe. The panel was hosted and moderated by farmer and former kids broadcaster Christophe Erbes. MIPTV is the premier content market for co-producing, buying, selling, financing and distributing entertainment content, and is held every year in Cannes in France.
