Former UC Davis Student Produces Cartoon Short "The Outsiders" With Nickelodeon

As a managerial economics alum at University of California, Davis (UC Davis), Eric Bravo didn't anticipate that he would ever be writing and producing his own cartoon short for Nickelodeon. But Bravo, who graduated in 2013, built on his internship at Nickelodeon Animation Studio and pitched his very own cartoon idea to studio executives as part of Nickelodeon's 2014 Animated Shorts Program. Out of over 900 pitches from a broad spectrum of creative talent in 2014, Nickelodeon selected Eric's cartoon short, "The Outsiders", as one of 11 finalists of the networks 2014 Animated Shorts Program!

Following developing Eric's script into a full animated short, Nickelodeon USA has debuted "The Outsiders" on the networks official "Short Toons" website, which you can watch here on nick.com!

In "The Outsiders", Gerald is annoyed at Miles for dragging him out to the woods for a "dance" emergency. But they have to work together when a Bear attacks!

To celebrate the debut of "The Outsiders", The California Aggie has unveiled a fantastic interview with Eric Bravo, in which he talks about how he got into animating and how Nickelodeon helped him develop his short, which you can read here on TheAggie.org!

Eric's has also started a blog called "Storyboard Room" to help people aspiring to get into the entertainment business, in which he interviews industry professionals in animation about how they got into the industry!

Nickelodeon's Animated Shorts Program aims to discover, mentor and collaborate with exciting new talent in order to develop the best short-form content for Nickelodeon. All the shorts selected have the potential to be developed into a longer-form series. Nickelodeon's Global Nickelodeon Animated Shorts Program is open to creatives across the world. The 2016 edition of the initiative will launch in February 2016. More information is available at nickshortspitches.com.

Nickelodeon UK's Gallery Team Pull Epic Prank On Nick Presenter Dave Berry

Nickelodeon UK's production team have a lot of fun working at Nick and play a fair few pranks on each other.

In 2001, Nick UK's gallery/transmission team decided to play a epic prank on presenter Dave "The Boy" Berry!

Dave thought he was presenting a live mid program continuity link lasting about 10 seconds at around 18:45 in-between "Saved By the Bell", however, Nickelodeon UK's gallery/transmission team secretly dropped the real continuity link for this wind-up!

In the prank, Nickelodeon UK's gallery/transmission team make Dave think that all hell has broken out behind-the-scenes in transmission, causing Nickelodeon to temporarily lose the programme they're in the middle off! To fill the unplanned extended link, Dave has to ad-lib for 5 minutes, whilst Nick fixes the problem in transmission and resume normal playout, something which Dave is totally unprepared for but totally aces!

During the link, Dave talks about a selection of Nickelodeon UK gems including "Watch Your Own Week", "NList" and "Head To Head"!

Talkback is on the Left Audio Channel, Program Out on the right.

Sneak-Peek From Series Premiere Of "The HALO Effect", Premiering Monday 18th January 2016 On Nickelodeon USA

To celebrate Nickelodeon USA debuting "The HALO Effect", a brand-new docu-series hosted by Sydney Park ("Instant Mom") that profiles in every episode a young activist who is making a positive change in his or her community and inspiring others to do the same, on Monday 18th January 2016 at 8:00pm ET/PT, Just Jared Jr. has unveiled a fantastic sneak-peek preview from the shows' series premiere episode, which you can watch in the super video clip here on JustJaredJr.com!

"The HALO Effect" series builds upon Nickelodeon's successful pro-social year-round initiative of the same name, which launched in 2013 and recognizes one deserving teen every month for their work to help and lead others in the community, with more than 20 teens across the USA to date being honored and receiving more than $100,000 in grants to fund their non-profit organizations, and Nickelodeon's annual "HALO Awards" concert special.

"The HALO Effect" aims to inspire kids and teens to be active leaders in their communities by offering an insider's look at the incredible personal stories of kids who have used their passion and creativity to help those in need. Each 30-minute episode will focus on a ordinary teen who is doing extraordinary things by taking on issues ranging from poverty, to helping military families, to the environment, and will be capped by the profiled teen kicking off a "HALO Effect Challenge," an action or activity encouraging viewers to become a part of the HALO movement by giving them ways to Help and Lead Others (HALO) in their own communities.

Jessica Collins, founder of "A Place to Sleep" and the first "HALO Effect" Champion, with show host Sydney Park

The first teen featured in "The HALO Effect" will be Jessica Collins, a 16 year-old from Shelbyville, KY. At the age of 10, she was inspired by the film "The Blindside", and the realization that there are kids who don't have a bed, to create "A Place to Sleep." With the help of her church, family and the generous contributions of local residents who donate funds, beds and their time, this non-profit organization has provided more than 750 families with bed frames, mattresses and bedding. In recognition of her dedicated service, Nickelodeon's The HALO Effect awarded a $10,000 grant to Jessica's organization. In Nick USA's super sneak peek, Sydney Park presents the big check to Jessica Collins!

"The HALO Effect" host Sydney Park is no stranger to HALO – that's why she’s the perfect host for "The HALO Effect"! This "Instant Mom" and "One Crazy Cruise" star first got her HALO on at the 2014 Awards in the epic Log Roll Challenge competition. Then she joined in recognizing all of the champions at the 2015 show. Now watch as Sydney raises her voice in honor of a whole new group of helpers and leaders. Sydney can next be seen in the upcoming independent feature film "The Standoff".

Viewers can find out more information about Nickelodeon's "The HALO Effect", each months champion and the shows host, Sydney Park, by visiting Nick USA's official "The HALO Effect" show website, nick.com/haloeffect.

"The HALO Effect" is executive produced by Nick Cannon and NCredible Entertainment, as well as Morgan Spurlock, Richard Arlook, Jeremy Chilnick and Ethan Goldman of Warrior Poets.
