Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie | Official Trailer | Netflix After School

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie | Official Trailer | Netflix After School

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back in action and up to their teenage antics in this comedic adventure that raises the stakes higher than ever before.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie premieres on Friday, August 5, 2022 on Netflix!

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie poster

Make sure to head over to www.netflix.com/teenagemutantninjaturtles for more on the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.

"We've still got a ninja's greatest weapon: hope."

Two years ago, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ended an acclaimed, Emmy-nominated and Annie Award-winning run on Nickelodeon after just two seasons. The quartet of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael went out in style, though, as the four-part series finale saw them defeating Shredder, rescuing Splinter, and setting up their feature as a heroic team. Now, the Rise of the TMNT crew is back for their own feature-length movie adventure, and this time they're dealing with something truly mind-blowing.

Titled Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, the Nickelodeon pic picks up the turtles when a mysterious stranger arrives from the future with a dire warning. Leo is forced to rise and lead his brothers, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey in a fight to save the world from a terrifying alien species…the Krang! The movie is directed by Ant Ward and Andy Suriano, written by writers Tony Gama-Lobo and Rebecca May, and produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios. The voice cast stars Ben Schwartz, Omar Benson Miller, Brandon Mychal Smith, Josh Brener, Kat Graham, Eric Bauza, Haley Joel Osment. The Rise of the TMNT movie has a runtime of 1 hour and 22 minutes.

Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, setting the stage for the most high-stakes adventure this iteration of the Turtles crew has faced so far. This time around, Leo (Schwartz), Donnie (Brener), Raph (Miller), and Mikey (Smith) get their minds blown when a hockey-masked figure from the future named Casey Jones emerges in their world and warns them of an impending invasion by the Krang.

At first, they're obviously a little skeptical, but once they realize Casey really is from the future, the Turtles join forces with their new friend to face an alien threat unlike anything they've faced before, a threat that might just strip them of the powers that made them the TMNT in the first place.

While the group attempts to stop the invasion, they are unsuccessful and, in the process, lose their magic powers. Even without their powers, the team bands together to bring the fight to the aliens and save their world from Casey's ruined future.

Directed by original Rise of the TMNT developers Ant Ward and Andy Suriano, and featuring the original series voice cast returning to their roles, Rise of the TMNT: The Movie looks like exactly the kind of project fans of the gone-too-soon animated series can get behind. It's got the same winking, knowing tone from the Nickelodeon show, it's got the Nickelodeon Animation team in its corner, and it's got the bigger scope you'd expect from a feature-length version of the property.

If enough people tune in when the film hits Netflix, it might even be enough to start a whole new phase of Rise of the TMNT for fans young and old.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie is based on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nickelodeon's 2D-animated follow up to the network's CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. Premiering in 2018 and running for two seasons, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an action-comedy series follows the band of brothers as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City.

The series stars the voice talent of Omar Miller (Ballers) as Raph, a jagged-shelled snapping turtle; Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as Leo, a red-eared slider turtle; Josh Brener (Silicon Valley) as Donnie, a soft-shell turtle; Brandon Mychal Smith (You're The Worst) as Mikey, a box turtle; Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as April O'Neil, a street savvy native New Yorker; Eric Bauza (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as Splinter, father figure and sensei to the Turtles; and WWE Superstar John Cena as the villainous, Baron Draxum.

Nickelodeon and Netflix first announced plans for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie as well as a animated movie inspired by The Loud House in February 2019, as part of Nickelodeon and Paramount Global's broader efforts to tap into Nickelodeon's intellectual properties (IP) to continue producing new content for digital and linear platforms. Nickelodeon and Netflix expanded on their pact to form a new, multi-year output deal to produce original animated feature films and television series - based both on the Nickelodeon library of characters as well as all-new IP - for kids and families around the world.

The Loud House Movie premiered on Netflix on August 20, 2021. The Rise of the TMNT flick was originally slated to premiere around the same time, but was postponed until this year.

Leading up to the debut of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, Netflix will be adding season one of Nickelodeon's 2012 CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and the freshman season of the network's 2D-animated Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on May 31.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie is one of several TMNT projects in the pipeline: Nickelodeon Animation is partnering with Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver to develop a new CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, "The Next Chapter", which will be released in theaters on August 4, 2023. The pic will be Nickelodeon Animation Studio’s first-ever CG theatrical release. Meanwhile, Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live) and his brother Casey (Impractical Jokers) are also reportedly penning a new live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for Paramount, although his is still currently unconfirmed. Paramount+ also announced earlier this year that it'll be producing a series of exclusive movies for the streaming service, beginning in 2023, each centering on one of the property’s storied villains in never-before-told tales.

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Co-Creator On Seth Rogen's Project: 'I Don't Want Him To Feel Intimidated'

Kevin Eastman on the TMNT movies through the years, and the one that he thinks is best.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is enjoying a renaissance in 2022, with multiple projects being released between movies, television, and games. But co-creator Kevin Eastman, who helped draw the comics that made the Turtles so famous, still has a special love for the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

Eastman, who was on-hand for an event promoting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, recently spoke with IGN about how the original film was "the best one ever done" and how he enjoyed Konami's arcade game (he likes to pick Donatello). He also talked about Seth Rogen's upcoming project, which is currently slated for release in 2023.

Calling himself a "big fan" of Rogen, Eastman said Rogen's desire to reflect the "teenage" part of TMNT makes sense in light of the original source material. After all, the turtles were only 15-years-old in the original comic, which depicted their first time above ground.

Eastman, however, says he doesn't have any involvement in Rogen's film, nor has he spoken with him.

"No, I have not spoken to him, and that's also awesome because I do feel like different parts of the Turtles, different universes that Nickelodeon would bring me to work on. The comic books for example, of the animated TV series. I worked most recently on the 2012 series and some on Rise. And some times that they want the creator that's ... Like the Turtles versus Batman. That was something that was unique and one director's vision and they didn't need me. I did a couple drawings and sketches, but otherwise it was done on their own," Eastman explains.

"And so that's what I think is special. Because I don't want him to feel intimidated or think that if he asks me a question, I tell him, 'Well, you should do this,' that he should do that. It's his vision and his idea. And I think that's, what's personally exciting to me and I think that's, what's going to be exciting for the fans when they finally see the movie."

Eastman did, however, consult on the infamous Michael Bay films, which reimagined the classic turtle designs. First released in 2014, the film eventually received a sequel, and Bay is attached to produce a third live-action film alongside Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live) and Casey Jost (Impractical Jokers). A series of animated movies focussed

However, it's clear that Eastman was at least a little bit at odds with that vision, even if he's otherwise complimentary of Jonathan Liebesman and Bay.

"Sometimes the studio system can not be as accommodating as you like," Eastman says. "And I think there were some frustrations and there were things that I suggested that maybe they reconsider, but again, it's a unique and a individual artist's vision. And between Liebesman and Michael Bay, they had a story and a kind of movie that they wanted to tell. They told it. There was some great stuff in it. There's some stuff I would've done differently, but it's definitely right in the middle. Because my high watermark is the original Turtles movie and it'll always be the best Turtle movie ever done."

Eastman himself is still at it, working with fellow co-creator Peter Laird to produce a Turtles finale titled The Last Ronin, which he compares to Frank Miller's Dark Knight. The Cowabunga Collection is also not too far away, with a release date set for August 30 on a variety of platforms, and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, based on Nickelodeon's 2018 iteration of the TMNT arrives on Netflix on August 5.

Paramount+ also announced earlier this year that it'll be producing a series of exclusive movies for the streaming service, beginning in 2023, each centering on one of the property’s storied villains in never-before-told tales.

Update (8/3) - Cinesite is helping to produce Seth Rogen's TMNT movie! The studio recently worked on Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank.

TMNT Co-Creator Says It's 'Humbling' Seeing the Franchise Evolve | Comic Con 2022 | IGN

"Presented by FX’s Reservation Dogs. The all-new season returns on August third. Only on Hulu. For nearly 40 years, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has remained a mainstay across various forms of media. From comics to video games, IGN's Kat Bailey sits down with TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman to pick his brain on how it feels to see his comic series evolve into a multimedia franchise beloved by many generations. The next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, The Cowabunga Collection, launches on August 30 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Switch."

New Azula 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Graphic Novel Announced

A brand new Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novel focussing on Azula was recently announced at SDCC 2022!

The Azula solo, titled Azula in the Spirit Temple, is slated to be released during summer 2023, and follows the previous solo graphic novel trilogy featuring Katara (Katara and the Pirate’s Silver, set during ATLA Book Two: Earth), Toph (Toph Beifong’s Metalbending Academy, set between previous ATLA comics), and Suki (Suki, Alone, set during her imprisonment at the Boiling Rock in ATLA Book Three: Fire).

As you can see above, the Avatar artwork shows Azula in her element as she wields a ball of blue fire in hand. It seems the girl has entered a temple of sorts, and the fog inside is seen making a pair of eyes above Azula's head. Of course, she hardly noticed the situation while treading into the temple, and her ragged outfit proves Azula was on quite the journey before finding this hidden temple.

This marks the second comic to feature Azula as a lead as Avatar visited the princess during Zuko's search for his mom. Azula returned in a second comic where she masqueraded as the Kemurikage, and the story saw the girl discover her true calling. According to Azula, she is now determined to oversee the Fire Nation as a shadow puppeteer controlling Zuko. As you can imagine, that goal is just about impossible to see through, but that will not stop her from trying. So when this new graphic novel hits shelves, Avatar fans are hoping to learn more about Azula and her journey after the Hundred Year War.

Based on Azula’s outfit in the cover art and in line with the other solos, it looks like this could be set between previous comics, but nothing is confirmed yet.

Additionally, it was also re-confirmed that the Legend of Korra graphic novel trilogy, originally announced in October 2020, will also be released in 2023.

In additional news, a second Avatar Yangchen book has been announced!

In a new interview with CBR, Kyoshi and Yangchen author F. C. Yee teased that Yangchen Book 2 is already planned and in the works. Here’s the full quote (emphasis mine):

CBR: “We also have a drastically different setting, with Shang cities like Bin-Er unlike any place Avatar fans have seen. As an Avatar fan yourself, I imagine there’s a constant conflict between whether to explore a previously established piece of the world or to build your own. What sorts of factors guide you in making those decisions?”

F. C. Yee: “The helpful method [of] world-building is to use parts of the show’s universe as pieces of living history, which is only possible because of the brilliant work done by the original creative team. Book Two of Yangchen’s story will probably take place in Taku, which we get a glimpse of in “The Blue Spirit” as a once-prosperous city now in decline. The show’s world-building has Taku as a place where cargo was distributed. It’s not unreasonable that there would be more cities like that, and the passage of time allows for them to be different than what we’ve seen before.”

The news follows the release of Avatar Yangchen’s first book, The Dawn of Yangchen, in the Chronicles of the Avatar novel series (which also consists of The Rise of Kyoshi and The Shadow of Kyoshi).

If the Yangchen books follow a similar schedule to the Kyoshi books, Book 2 will most likely come out some time next summer, but until then, a new era begins as The Dawn of Yangchen, on shop shelves now!

Nick Academy Phone App That Teaches The Basics of Coding To Children To Launch In Israel

Nick Academy includes a wide variety of activities where learning takes place through educational games

For the first time in Israel, an educational game phone app teaching the basics of computer coding to children will be launched this week.

The Nick Academy app is a digital platform that includes a wide variety of activities aimed at 6-year-olds, where learning takes place through games focusing on science, technology, computer programming, and math.

Available on smartphones and tablets, it will feature Nickelodeon characters well known to children in that age range and will be adapted in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, and English.

Nick Academy was developed in collaboration with the Davidson Institute for Science Education, the Adler Institute, Code Monkey, the Center for Educational Technology, and the Ramon Foundation.

It will also allow parents to receive regular updates on their children's progress and development, offering real-time feedback.

Along with the app’s launching, a “virtual summer camp” will offer a special workshop where kids ages 6-12 can learn how to program apps, design websites, and create video games.

The global market for educational apps is estimated at $80 billion.

In Israel, more than 250,000 children of primary school age already experienced programming courses during the previous school year, and the country's Education Ministry recently announced that it would incorporate programming into studies starting next school year.
