Tom Hardy Set to Return for ‘MobLand’ Season 3

Update (7/1): Tom Hardy is not leaving MobLand behind after all. Variety has confirmed with sources that the actor is set to return to the Paramount+ crime drama for a potential third season.

As previously reported, Hardy had completed work on Season 2 of the series when he fell out with executive producer Jez Butterworth, 101 Studios, and others. Production wrapped on Season 2 in March.

Hardy and the production team reportedly met in London to hash out their issues, leading to Hardy’s return to the show. Sources previously told Variety that plans were underway to bring Hardy back to the series. A third season has not been formally announced at this time, but given the show’s success on the streaming platform it is all but guaranteed.

Variety has reached out to Paramount, 101 Studios, and reps for Hardy for comment.

Mirren has been vocal in her support of Hardy and his return to the show both on social media and in an interview with Variety at the Taormina Film Festival. When asked if she would work with the actor again, she replied “Absolutely. In a f--king heartbeat,” she said. “I love Tom, I think he’s the most amazing actor. Different actors have different processes. I’ve learnt over the years that some people get to things faster. As long as what’s on the screen is fantastic, I’m totally chilled with however someone gets there. Tom is a very special person. I think he’s absolutely remarkable. My support of him is genuine and heartfelt.”

Hardy is believed to have had a three-year contract from the onset, so his return would be pretty straight-forward.

Deadline first reported Hardy’s return.

A Season 3 writers room is already underway on MobLand ahead of the Paramount+ drama’s Season 2 premiere, Deadline is reporting. But if/when the series is renewed for a third season, it will be without one of its stars, Tom Hardy, who will not be returning, Deadline has confirmed.

Hardy stars opposite Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren in MobLand, which has wrapped production on its second season. Hardy completed the season but not without issues, sources said. Friction between him and the series’ writer, executive producer and showrunner Jez Butterworth reportedly boiled over to a point where the two could no longer work together. Hardy’s chronic lateness to set is believed to be one of the points of contention, with tension between him and his co-stars also said to be a contributing factor.

A source familiar to the situation told Puck, who first reported on the actor's exit, that Hardy was also constantly asked to give notes on scripts, attempted to change dialogue, and expressed his displeasure that a series initially built around him was increasingly becoming an ensemble showcase for Mirren, Brosnan, and other co-stars. It got to the point where Butterworth threatened to quit, according to the source.

Paramount responded to the situation by dropping Hardy, though his contract does contain a mutual option for the third season, so he could have bailed on his own if he wanted.

Reps for Hardy and Paramount declined to comment when reached by Puck.

MobLand was renewed for a second season last year after logging Paramount+’s second biggest launch for an original series behind Landman.

In addition to Butterworth, the series comes from executive producer Guy Ritchie, creator, writer and exec producer Ronan Bennett. Butterworth also is behind Paramount+, 101 and PTVS’ The Agency (via Showtime).

In MobLand, two mob families clash in a war that threatens to topple empires and lives. Led by Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren, the cast also includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan and Emily Barber.

Concern As Beloved Hasbro Series ‘Peppa Pig’ Asks Child Actors To Sign Over Their Voices To Artificial Intelligence

Peppa Pig is famed for her love of jumping in muddy puddles, but the company behind the hit children’s TV series has created a different kind of splash with its approach to Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Peppa Pig
Peppa Pig | Entertainment One

Hasbro, the U.S. entertainment giant that acquired the Peppa Pig brand in 2019, is asking child actors on the animated series to sign over their voices to artificial intelligence under new contract terms, Deadline has revealed.

Industry sources said AI clauses are now frequently appearing in kids’ contracts on TV and film projects, but Hasbro’s embrace of the terms on Peppa Pig has become a lightning rod for concern.

The open letter does not name Peppa Pig, and the AYPA declined to identify the series, but industry sources have told Deadline that it refers to the beloved show.

The letter was also not specific about the clause in question, but theoretically, it could give Hasbro the power to clone a child’s voice and then use the AI-generated audio in Peppa Pig commercial assets.

Hasbro told Deadline that it was committed to protecting child performers, adding that it wished to approach discussions about artificial intelligence responsibly and transparently.

“Consent Must Be Treated With Care”

AYPA members are increasingly concerned about children being asked to effectively surrender their voice and image rights. Agents frequently ask the body for advice on AI clauses without naming specific projects.

The AYPA’s open letter said these clauses are often presented as a “take it or leave it” ultimatum, meaning children can lose out on work if their parents or guardians refuse to agree to the terms.

“Where the performer is a child, consent must be treated with the greatest of care. Children cannot provide fully informed legal consent and a parent or guardian’s approval should never be used as a blanket licence to capture, clone, train, or reuse a child’s voice indefinitely,” the letter said.

“Any agreement involving a child’s voice should be fully exempt from all AI usage. No child should have their future professional identity shaped by an AI model created before they were old enough to understand its consequences.”

It concluded: “We reject all contracts that require child performers to surrender voice rights indefinitely and without limits.”

‘Peppa Pig’ Season 11 | Hasbro

A Hasbro spokesperson said: “Hasbro is aware of the open letter circulating regarding AI clauses in children’s performance contracts. We are not able to comment on specific negotiations or contractual arrangements.

“The protection of child performers is core to who Hasbro is, it’s part of our DNA. As industry standards around AI continue to evolve, we are committed to engaging with this issue in a responsible and transparent manner.”

Created by Mark Baker and Neville Astley in 2004, Peppa Pig has become an international phenomenon. Season 11 premiered in the U.S. on Nickelodeon in March, featuring a storyline in which Peppa’s brother George is revealed to be moderately deaf. In the same month, Hasbro installed Adam Redfern, a writer on The Adventures of Paddington, as Peppa Pig‘s showrunner.

AYPA Open Letter On AI Clauses In Kids Contracts:

To studio executives, producers, casting teams, commissioners, and all those shaping the future of recorded performance.

We write at a moment when artificial intelligence is already the topic of much dispute, discussion and grave concerns throughout the industry.

Most recently, a major studio who owns the IP for an international children’s franchise producing a long running animated television series has offered contracts to child voice actors insisting that they agree to the use of AI thus allowing them to use the child’s voice in all commercial assets within their franchise. The refusal to remove this clause with an attitude of ‘take it or leave it’ has led us write this letter to make it clear that this will not be accepted and to bring this matter to the attention of the wider industry.

Where the performer is a child, consent must be treated with the greatest of care. Children cannot provide fully informed legal consent and a parent or guardian’s approval should never be used as a blanket licence to capture, clone, train, or reuse a child’s voice indefinitely.

Any agreement involving a child’s voice should be fully exempt from all AI usage. No child should have their future professional identity shaped by an AI model created before they were old enough to understand its consequences. Their voice should not become a permanent commercial asset before they have the legal and personal capacity to decide for themselves.

We the undersigned urge you to commit to responsible industry practice. Collectively, we reject all contracts that require child performers to surrender voice rights indefinitely and without limits.

More from Variety:

Nearly 1,000 Actors, Agents and More Sign Open Letter Against ‘Major Studio’ Demanding Child Actors Allow Their Voices to Be Used for AI

Nearly 1,000 actors, talent agents, parents and others have signed an open letter organized by the Agents for Young Performers Association this week condemning contract clauses that mandate children sign their voices over to be used by AI — a practice Deadline reported Hasbro has done with “Peppa Pig.”

The letter from the collection of talent agents, which came out Monday, alleges that a “major studio who owns the [intellectual property] for an international children’s franchise producing a long running animated television series” has demanded child voice actors agree to allow their voices be used by AI to produce “commercial assets within their franchise.” For agents who protest, the letter alleged, the studio has responded with “an attitude of ‘take it or leave it.’”

“Where the performer is a child, consent must be treated with the greatest of care,” the signatories wrote. “Children cannot provide fully informed legal consent and a parent or guardian’s approval should never be used as a blanket licence to capture, clone, train, or reuse a child’s voice indefinitely.”

“Our letter addresses the universal issue of companies supporting the use of AI in contracts for minors, clauses that are frequently being contested by agents,” the AYPA’s board told Variety in an email, refusing to name the studio in question. “There should be no question of using child actors in any form of AI, whether film, recorded media or images.”

Hasbro, which purchased the rights to the “Peppa Pig” franchise in 2019, told Variety it was aware of the letter and that the “protection of child performers is core to who Hasbro is” and “part of our DNA.”

“As industry standards around AI continue to evolve, we are committed to engaging with this issue in a responsible and transparent manner,” a spokesperson told Deadline.

The letter also demanded that children’s voices should be exempt from any clauses surrounding AI use, writing that “no child should have their future professional identity shaped by an AI model created before they were old enough to understand its consequences.”

“Their voice should not become a permanent commercial asset before they have the legal and personal capacity to decide for themselves,” the signatories wrote.

“Peppa Pig” debuted in 2004 and has since become an international phenomenon, with films, albums, merchandise and theme park experiences. The show, which airs on Channel 5 in the U.K. and Nick Jr. in the U.S., installed “The Adventures of Paddington” writer Adam Redfern as its showrunner in March.

An AI version of Peppa Pig already exists — in some capacity.

During Axios’ AI+NY summit earlier this month, Hasbro AI Studio CEO Bertie Thomson and ElevenLabs’ head of partnerships Dustin Blank spoke to an AI demo replica of the famed British cartoon during a conversation about the licensing of several Hasbro characters to the AI audio firm for commercial purposes. During the demonstration, the AI “Peppa Pig” said there were “special rules to make sure we still sound right, act right and play safely.” (Hasbro said the Axios demo was “in keeping with Hasbro’s commitment to responsible AI use with consent and compensation” and that Peppa’s voice was “an authorized usage developed specifically for demonstration purposes with the appropriate permissions.)

It was unclear which Peppa actor’s voice was licensed for the replica (Harriette Cox, whose representative did not respond to an immediate request for comment, took over the role last year). ElevenLabs did not respond to an immediate request for comment, but the firm has touted the participation of characters’ original voice actors in the licensing agreement. The AYPA declined to comment on the AI replica of Peppa Pig.

‘Tulsa King’ Adds Eden Lee In Recurring Role For Season 4

Eden Lee is set for a major recurring role on Season 4 of Taylor Sheridan‘s Tulsa King.

Eden Lee
Eden Lee | Josh Stringer

Lee will play Maya, the officious Chief of Staff for the Governor of Oklahoma, Deadline reports.

Tulsa King stars Sylvester Stallone as New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi. The Paramount+ series follows Dwight just after he is released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a “crew” from a group of unlikely characters to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that to him might as well be another planet.

Season 2 followed Dwight and his crew as they encountered new enemies when they encroached on nemesis territory in Tulsa.

Season 3 finds Dwight’s empire expanding, as well as his enemies and risks to his crew. Now, he faces his most dangerous adversaries in Tulsa yet: the Dunmires, a powerful old-money family that doesn’t play by old-world rules, forcing Dwight to fight for everything he’s built and protect his family.

The cast also includes Martin Starr, Jay Will, Annabella Sciorra, Neal McDonough, Robert Patrick, Beau Knapp, Bella Heathcote, Chris Caldovino, McKenna Quigley Harrington, Mike “Cash Flo” Walden, Kevin Pollak, Vincent Piazza, Frank Grillo, Michael Beach, James Russo, with Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany. Gretchen Moll has also been cast as a new series regular in Season 4.

Mol will play Amanda Clark, a Tulsa politician. This marks a reunion for Mol and Terence Winter who is back as executive producer and head writer on Season 4 of Tulsa King. He created and executive produced HBO’s acclaimed period mob drama Boardwalk Empire, on which Mol was a series regular.

In addition to Winter, Sheridan and Stallone executive produce Season 4 alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Thomas Kelly, Bob Yari, and Keith Cox. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Lee was most recently seen in a key recurring role opposite Robert De Niro in Netflix’s Zero Day. On the film side, she’ll next be seen in Stephanie Ahn’s feature debut Bedford Park, which received the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Debut Feature at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. It’s set for September release in theaters. Lee’s credits also include Twisted Metal, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Parish, Found, Murdaugh: Death in the Family, First Wives Club, The Resident, Dynasty, and Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. She is repped by Alexander White Agency and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.

Mol can be seen in Lauren Meyering’s Horsegirls, which premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, and Ed Burns’ Millers In Marriage alongside Julianna Margulies and Benjamin Bratt, which premiered at the 2024 TIFF and was released in February last year. On TV, Mol recently starred as the female lead opposite Jon Bernthal in Showtime’s American Gigolo. She is repped by LBI Entertainment and Gersh.

Kristofer Hivju, Johan Glans and Celie Sparre join the cast of SkyShowtime Original 'Where the Sun Always Shines' ('Där Solen Alltid Skiner'), as season two enters production
SkyShowtime

Following the breakout success of the first season, filming has begun in Mallorca on the second series of SkyShowtime’s popular Swedish dramedy Where the Sun Always Shines (Där Solen Alltid Skiner), with leading actors Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones, The Iris Affair), Johan Glans (Hjälp!) and Celie Sparre (The Truth Will Out) joining the cast.

The SkyShowtime Original series, created and directed by Felix Herngren (Sunny Side, Bonus Family) sees the return of Per Lasson, Lisa Linnertorp, Erik ‘Jerka’ Johansson and Rakel Wärmländer. The new season picks up where the first left off, following the two brothers and their families as they attempt to build a new life in the Spanish sun, while continuing to grapple with unresolved conflicts and complex family dynamics.

Hivju will be playing the role of Anker, an eccentric Norwegian intellectual and artist. Anker lives in a large, architect-designed home outside Palma, where he rejects the idea of modernity in favour of exploring his growing obsession with Roman ideals and a quest to find his ‘true’ humanity.

Speaking about his role in the series, Hivju said:  “I loved season one, and it’s a real joy to join this incredible cast as Anker, a character I hope will bring plenty of energy and shake things up where the sun always shines. Working with Felix Herngren and the rest of the team has been an absolute pleasure, and I can’t wait for audiences to see what’s in store for season two.”

Where the Sun Always Shines (Där Solen Alltid Skiner) is produced by award-winning Scandinavian production company FLX, created and directed by Herngren (Sunny Side, Bonus Family), and produced by Sussan Treschow (Jana – Marked for life, Meaning of Life) with SkyShowtime and SVT as co-producer. Head scriptwriter Erik Ahrnbom (Thin Blue Line, Keep It Together) joins for the second season, alongside writers Maria Nygren (Meaning of Life, Love & Anarchy) and Martin Larsson (Keep It Together), with Jessica Ericstam (Sunny Side, Meaning of Life) serving as Executive Producer for FLX.

Season two of Where the Sun Always Shines (Där Solen Alltid Skiner) is the latest Swedish series to be recommissioned by SkyShowtime, and is set to join a slew of hit local originals including sporting documentary Schmeichel, popular crime drama Veronika seasons 1 – 3, plus upcoming series The Trio (Trion) which premieres on 1 June, and National Homicide Unit (Riksmord).

Paramount+ UK Orders Heist Thriller Series ‘The Day’

Paramount+ is adding a heist thriller series to its upcoming British slate and has ordered The Day (working title), to be led by Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting, Emily in Paris), Luca Pasqualino (Rivals, The Musketeers) and Louisa Harland (Renegade Nell, Derry Girls).

Co-produced By Dynamic Television and Clapperboard Studios and described as a “propulsive edge-of-your-seat thriller,” the eight-part series is based on the Belgian show De Dag.

As the name suggests, The Day is set across a single day, following a terrifying bank siege that starts when police stumble across a bank robbery mid-heist, prompting the criminals to barricade themselves inside. The story opens from the police perspective, led by hostage negotiator Sylvia “Vox” Voxley (Driver), as she battles time and rising pressure to save the hostages. But as the crisis hurtles towards breaking point, the story rewinds, with viewers pulled inside the bank to relive the same events through the eyes of the robbers and their hostages.

As per the description, “With each episode flipping perspective between the police operation and the robbers barricaded inside, The Day constantly resets the narrative. Every shift in perspective reframes the truth and deepens the mystery — building to an explosive finale where the full picture finally snaps into place.”

Currently in production, The Day will premiere on Paramount+ in the U..K and Ireland, with Dynamic Television handling global distribution outside these territories.

Paramount+’s U.K. and Ireland arm recently co-commissioned a new take on the classic pirating adventure Treasure Island, with David Oyelowo, Hayley Atwell and Jack Huston starring and MGM+ ordering for the U.S.

The news was first reported by Variety.

Neil Patrick Harris, Tituss Burgess and Ellie Kemper to Star In Forthcoming Mo Willems Children's Book Adaptions for Paramount+

April 16, 2026 – Paramount+ today announced that the Emmy®-Nominated Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt stars, Tituss Burgess and Ellie Kemper, will reunite to voice “Elephant Gerald” and “Piggie”, respectively, in the The Elephant & Piggie Show!, while four-time Emmy-winner Neil Patrick Harris is slated to voice “The Bus Driver” in The Pigeon Show! Starring The Pigeon. Both titles are animated adaptations of Mo Willems’ New York Times best-selling children’s book series.

  • The Elephant & Piggie Show! is a warm, comedic pre-K series about the hilarious and sometimes challenging work of "best-friending." The series takes place in the small, walkable neighborhood of Willemsburg, which is full of new locations audiences will love. Elephant Gerald is careful; his best friend Piggie is not. Gerald worries so that that Piggie does not have to and together, along with young audiences, they will celebrate the messy and joyful art of friendship.
  • The Pigeon Show! Starring The Pigeon is about the day-to-day struggles of a pigeon who just wants to be listened to. He will be your best friend if you have a bus and you let him drive it. The series features familiar characters from Willems’ books, such as the adorable Duckling who always seems to get what she wants, plus new characters, like The Pigeon’s 150-million-year-old pterodactyl grandmother, Nana-Dactyl, and his best wing-pals, Ima Pigeon and Doug Pigeon.
  • In December 2025, Paramount+ revealed it had greenlit the two animated adaptations of Willems’ acclaimed children’s books in an announcement celebrating its collaboration with the author’s multiplatform kids and family entertainment business, Hidden Pigeon Company.
  • Mo Willems is a #1 New York Times best-selling author and illustrator. He’s been awarded a Caldecott Honor on three occasions (for Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity). Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! was also an inaugural inductee into the Indies Choice Picture Book Hall of Fame. Willems’ celebrated Elephant & Piggie early reader series has been awarded two Theodor Seuss Geisel Medals (for There Is a Bird on Your Head! and Are You Ready to Play Outside?) and five Geisel Honors (for We Are in a Book!, I Broke My Trunk!, Let’s Go for a Drive!, A Big Guy Took My Ball!, and Waiting Is Not Easy!). Mo began his career as a writer on Sesame Street, where he garnered six Emmy® Awards.
