Netflix Adds 'Danger Force' Season One

Netflix has added the first season of Nickelodeon's hit superhero-themed comedy series Danger Force!

The series, a spin-off from Henry Danger, follows four ordinary kids - Chapa (Havan Flores), Miles (Terrence Little Gardenhigh), Mika (Dana Heath) and Bose (Luca Luhan) - who accidentally acquire extraordinary superpowers as they struggle to keep their identities a secret. Under the guidance of indestructible veteran superhero Captain Man (Cooper Barnes) and his odd-but-brilliant assistant Schwoz (Michael D. Cohen), the team battles the many villains they accidentally released from Swellview prison years ago. Danger Force is TV’s number-one live-action kids’ show (Kids 6-11), and is produced in Burbank, Calif.

Danger Force is developed and executive produced by Christopher J. Nowak (Henry Danger, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder). Cooper Barnes and Jake Farrow (Henry Danger) serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Jace Norman. Danger Force was created by Dan Schneider & Dana Olsen. Production of Danger Force for Nickelodeon is overseen by Shauna Phelan and Zack Olin, Co-Heads of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action. Omar Camacho serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series. The series was recently greenlit for season three.

PARAMOUNT+ ANNOUNCES “HALO” SEASON TWO START OF PRODUCTION

Season One Cast Members Fiona O’Shaughnessy and Tylan Bailey Return as Series Regulars

Sept. 14, 2022 – Paramount+ today announced that the highly anticipated second season of the hit original series HALO has begun production in Iceland, with additional filming to take place in Budapest, Hungary, later this year. Additionally, it was announced that Joseph Morgan (“Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals”) and Cristina Rodlo (“No One Gets Out of Here Alive,” “The Homeless World Cup”) will join as new series regulars, while cast members Fiona O’Shaughnessy (Laera) and Tylan Bailey (Kessler) return as series regulars for season two.

Stream HALO season one now on Paramount+. Try it FREE at ParamountPlus.com.

Morgan joins the series as James Ackerson, a formidable intelligence operative who has spent his career climbing the ranks of the UNSC’s secretive Office of Naval Intelligence. Rodlo is Talia Perez, a corporal specializing in linguistics for a UNSC Marine Corp communications unit and a relatively new recruit who has yet to see any real combat.

Returning from season one, Laera (O’Shaughnessy) is Soren’s confidant, wife and partner in crime. Soren and Laera’s son, Kessler (Bailey), has had a relatively peaceful, if unusual, childhood growing up on the Rubble.

Led by showrunner and executive producer David Wiener (“Brave New World”), the series takes place in the universe that first debuted in 2001 with the launch of Xbox®’s first “Halo” game. Dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant, HALO the series weaves deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.

HALO stars Pablo Schreiber (“American Gods”) as Master Chief, Spartan-117 and Natascha McElhone (“Californication”) as Dr. Halsey, both of whom also serve as producers this season. 'Inside The NFL' Makes Season Premiere On Paramount+

“INSIDE THE NFL” MAKES SEASON PREMIERE TONIGHT ON PARAMOUNT+

NEW YORK – September 13, 2022 – The Emmy® Award-winning studio show INSIDE THE NFL kicks off its 46th season tonight, September 13 at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT, streaming on Paramount+. Try Paramount+ for FREE at ParamountPlus.com.

This season features the return of three-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl LIII MVP Julian Edelman, alongside two-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl XXI MVP Phil Simms, who is in his 15th year on the show, six-time Pro Bowler Brandon Marshall, two-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis and three-time Emmy Award-winner and Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer James Brown.

Tonight’s premiere episode dives into what went wrong for the Super Bowl LVI participants, including a troublesome Los Angeles Rams defense and a turnover-prone Cincinnati Bengals offense. The crew analyzes next steps for the Dallas Cowboys following Dak Prescott’s injury and examines how Russell Wilson can rebound from a season-opening loss with his new team, the Denver Broncos.

The crew also honors the legacy of the late Len Dawson, Hall of Fame quarterback for Kansas City and beloved former co-host of INSIDE THE NFL from 1977-2001. Dawson passed away last month.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith, Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin, and Carolina Panthers linebacker Frankie Luvu are wired for sound.

Following are quotes from tonight’s premiere episode:

On how the Dallas Cowboys will cope without Dak Prescott…

Simms – “Here’s the thing that’s come up - ‘Dak Prescott, he might be back in three or four weeks.’ There’s no way that you have surgery on your right thumb and think you’re going to come back and do that, because for a quarterback, your right thumb is the most important finger if you’re right-handed. The most important finger for throwing the football, there’s no doubt. Now, Cooper Rush is going to come in and take his place. Cooper Rush has a good arm, he’s got experience, he led the team to a victory last year. He can make the plays, so it’s not going to be a huge drop-off to me.”

On the Los Angeles Rams defensive shortcomings in Week 1…

Lewis – “When you talk about the Rams, the first thing you must talk about is arguably the best defensive player in the game right now, Aaron Donald. When you lose Von Miller, now all you have to focus on is Aaron Donald and getting him blocked. They have to go back from the defensive perspective and say ‘what did we not do’.”

On the Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive line protecting Joe Burrow…

Edelman – “Cincinnati is going to have to learn quick, you’re a target now. You’re not flying under the radar. Joe Burrow can’t be picking himself up off the ground seven times a game. He’s been sacked 24 times the last three games. I don’t care if it’s a new offensive line or not. That’s your franchise quarterback. … I think they’re in a lot better position than the Rams, but I’m still worried.”

On Russell Wilson’s Broncos debut…

Edelman – “I think he’s Russell. You had him in the right situation at the end of the game. If they would have went for it, would he have got it? I don’t know. But he was in plug-and-play out there. He was hitting his guys. We heard about Jerry Jeudy. We heard about [Courtland] Sutton. We haven’t heard them since they got in the league, because they had no one distributing the football to them. First time they had gains.”

On the impact of Von Miller and Khalil Mack on new teams…

Lewis – “Listen, when you take a Khalil Mack and put him on the opposite side of [Joey] Bosa, that’s a problem. … If you got Justin Herbert on the other side and he’s putting up 20, 30, however many points and you come back and that’s the pass rush you’re letting loose, that’s a problem. Let me go to another problem: Von Miller. You add Von Miller to Leslie Frazier’s defense, which is a bend-but-don’t-break defense, but then you slide the entire defensive line to the left and let Von Miller be on the right side, by himself, isolated on the tackle. The last time he’s done that, he was a Super Bowl MVP. … I’m just telling you guys, two of the biggest offseason moves this season, they have a chance to be in the AFC Championship, because of those moves.”

INSIDE THE NFL covers every game, every week, with trademark highlights from NFL Films, special in-depth features and spirited debate on the game’s hottest topics. The show is produced by CBS Sports, SHOWTIME Sports® and NFL Films, with new episodes streaming Tuesday nights on Paramount+ throughout the 2022 NFL season to Super Bowl LVII.

Past cast members of the storied program dating back to 1977 have included Dan Marino, Chuck Bednarik, Nick Buoniconti, Cris Carter, Cris Collinsworth, Bob Costas, Jerry Glanville, Jimmy Johnson, Boomer Esiason and the late Len Dawson.

The executive producers are Sean McManus, Chairman, CBS Sports and SHOWTIME Sports’ Stephen Espinoza, as well as Ross Ketover and Pat Kelleher of NFL Films. Pete Radovich Jr., the award-winning Creative Director for CBS Sports, serves as coordinating producer alongside CBS Sports’ award-winning producer Jawn Morales.

Luxury Nickelodeon Hotel In Garden Grove, California Gets The Go-Ahead From Planners

The long-awaited Nickelodeon-themed luxury hotel for Harbor Boulevard in Garden Grove, Orange County, California has got the go-ahead!

Proposed Nickelodeon Hotel and Resort for Harbor Boulevard in Garden Grove.

On Thursday (July 7) night, the Garden Grove Planning Commission unanimously cleared the way for the construction of a 500-room Nickelodeon-themed hotel on Harbor Boulevard.

The panel approved developer Kam Sang’s request for approval of a planned unit development and site plan for a 3.72-acre site on the west side of Harbor immediately south of the existing Sheraton Hotel.

The proposed project would include:

  • a themed pool experience with a “lazy river” and pool slide
  • event space with a 600-seat theater
  • 17,715 square feet of ballroom/meeting space
  • 22,296 square feet of hotel restaurant
  • 5,480 square feet of retail
  • themed amenities totaling 13,238 square feet
  • a 7,000 square foot arcade
  • a spa and fitness center of 8,532 square feet
  • a five-level parking structure with 528 parking spaces.

Once construction starts, completion should take 18 to 24 months estimates Lisa Kim, assistant city manager and director of community and economic development.

We first heard of plans to open a Nick Hotel in OC in 2016, when Nickelodeon and Kam Sang Co. planned to open a Nick-themed hotel in the city. However, the project was delayed by the end of redevelopment as well as the coronavirus pandemic.

Update (8/22) - At the Garden Grove City Council's town meeting on Tuesday, August 23, there will be a public hearing on a resolution to approve the development of the Nickelodeon Hotel Resort project on Harbor Boulevard and deny an appeal of the planning commission’s earlier approval.

Update (8/26), via Orange County Tribune:

Another step for Nickelodeon

It was an unusual moment: two union groups struggling over whether the Garden Grove City Council should give approval to the development of the 500-room Nickelodeon Hotel Resort.

After much comment from construction trade unions and UNITE, which represents hotel and restaurant workers unions, the council on Tuesday night voted 6-0  – with Councilmember John O’Neill (District 2) absent – to approve the ordinance for the project and deny an appeal of the planning commission’s previous approval.

Speaking in favor of the project mostly were members and representatives of various construction trade unions, including electricians, carpenters and iron and steel workers. They cited the benefits of employing local workers and creating career job opportunities for high school graduates who don’t go on to college.

Opposed were members and representatives of UNITE, arguing that the land along Harbor Boulevard where the new project would be located – immediately south of the Sheraton Hotel – would be better used for housing, and that such a large development as the resort could have a negative impact on the community.

While the hotel workers represents employees at some Anaheim hotels, they’ve had no success in organizing at those in Garden Grove.

Their objections Tuesday night didn’t move any members of the council. Praising the transition of Harbor toward a hotel resort district, Councilmember George Brietigam (District 1) said, “The city has received a lot of benefits from [hotels]” and added “It fits the area and it fits the long-term goals for the community.”

Councilmember Phat Bui (District 4) said the last steps toward development of the project was “the light at the end of the tunnel.”

The “final” final step would come on Sept. 13 when the council considers second reading and final adoption of the ordinance.

###

Update (9/14), via Orange County Tribune:

Final step for Nickelodeon?
BYOC TRIBUNE STAFFON SEPTEMBER 13, 2022 • ( LEAVE A COMMENT )

NICKELODEON HOTEL planned for Harbor’s west side (City of Garden Grove).

The process of attracting and negotiating for the construction of a major project can have a lot of steps, but what appears to be a final action on the planned Nickelodeon hotel goes before the Garden Grove City Council when it meets tonight (Tuesday).

What’s before the council first is a public hearing, and then the adoption of a resolution approving a disposition and development agreement with Newage Garden Grove II, LLC.

If approved – as expected – the developer is committed to construct a 500-suite full service hotel on a 3.72 acre site on Harbor Boulevard, immediately south of the Sheraton Hotel.

It would include a themed “pool experience” with a “lazy river,” event space that includes a 600-seat theater and grand ballroom and more.

The estimated net project revenue to the city by Year 3 is $3.5 million annually. Over 30 years, the project is expected to generate about $236.4 million to the city in a combination of “bed tax” charged to hotel guests, sales tax and property tax.

As many as 1,000 new jobs are expected to be generated from construction and in the resort.

Also on the agenda are:

  • adoption of a resolution authorizing submittal of an application to the County of Orange Continuum of Care for the “Special Notice of Funding Opportunity” to address unsheltered homelessness (Garden Grove is in the process of developing a “navigation center” for the homeless, in conjunction with Westminster and Fountain Valley);
  • two purchase orders for a total of 17 police vehicles with a total cost of over $800,000;
  • second reading of an ordinance for a planned unit development for a two-hotel project at the northwest corner of Harbor Boulevard and Twintree Avenue;
  • a purchase agreement for property at 13871 West St. for use as a navigation center for the homeless (cost: $5,650,000) and awarding a contract for architectural services for the building to Borders Architect (cost: $304,000).

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave.

Paramount Reportedly Looking To Shutter Showtime’s Stand-Alone Streaming Service And Shift Content To Paramount+

Paramount Global is reportedly exploring discontinuing its Showtime streaming service and folding its content into the Paramount’s flagship Paramount+ offering.

Paramount has “broached the idea” of shuttering Showtime in talks with “at least one major pay-TV partner,” per the report. The Wall Street Journal first reported the news of the internal discussions Tuesday (Sept. 13) and stressed it’s early days. Paramount has “broached the idea” of shuttering Showtime in talks with “at least one major pay-TV partner,” per the report.

A source within Paramount confirmed talks have been held but emphasized that they are part of a broader assessment of distribution in the future.

The talks are the latest sign of companies looking to streamline their brands in an increasingly streaming-centric world,

The lucrative traditional pay-TV business of Showtime remains intact after decades as a tried-and-true part of the linear bundle. The question now is about what shape it takes years from now, as streaming ambitions continue to grow and the linear base shrinks. Dynamics are shifting between pay-TV operators and programmers across the TV landscape, particularly in the premium cable sector, with HBO, Starz and Epix all having grappled with the same challenges facing Paramount and Showtime.

“We are always exploring options to maximize the value of our content investment by giving consumers access to great Paramount content through an array of services and platforms,” a company spokesman told Deadline in a statement.

According to company insiders, there are no imminent changes being contemplated for the Showtime brand. However, sources confirmed to Variety that the media conglomerate is floating the prospect of combining Paramount+ and Showtime as part of long-term discussions with distributors.

“Paramount executives are discussing the incentives they could offer cable and satellite companies to allow Showtime to be folded into Paramount+, the people familiar with the situation said,” Jessica Toonkel wrote in the WSJ.

While the numbers are not routinely broken out from the overall Paramount total of 64 million streaming subscribers (two-thirds of which are Paramount+), Showtime OTT has grown more than 200% over the past three years, say people acquainted with the numbers.

Showtime programming is already offered on Paramount+ in international markets. It is poised to enter some European markets this year as part of SkyShowtime, a joint venture with Comcast. Showtime’s over-the-top service launched in 2015, the same year as CBS All Access, the forerunner to Paramount+.

SkyShowtime will launch in the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden on Sept. 20, before expanding into the Netherlands in Q4. SkyShowtime will continue its roll out across Spain, Portugal, Andorra, and Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) over the coming months and through Q1 2023.

The WSJ report comes less than a month after Paramount combined Paramount+ and Showtime into a single, merged service, letting subscribers access content from both streamers in one place, and offering discounts of up to 33% on the Paramount+/Showtime bundle through Oct. 2.

The regular U.S. pricing for the Paramount+/Showtime bundle is $11.99/month for the Essential tier and $14.99/month for Premium tier, representing discounts of 25% and 28%, respectively. Current subscribers could upgrade to the bundle within their app. Both Showtime and Paramount+ are still offered as stand-alone services outside of the bundle.

In announcing Q2 earnings, Paramount said that Paramount+ now has 43.3 million paid customers, a net add of 3.7 million for the June quarter (including 1.2 million disconnects in Russia). The company’s total streaming subscribers globally reached 63.7 million in the second quarter, a gain of 1.7 million, meaning the company’s other direct-to-consumer services dropped 2.4 million subs overall.

Paramount does not break out the number of subscribers for Showtime or its other direct-to-consumer services. According to a company source, Showtime’s streaming subscriber numbers have more than tripled over the last three years.

Meanwhile, Paramount recently inked a deal with Walmart under which Paramount+ is now available in the retailing giant’s Walmart+ membership program.

The latest move comes as Warner Bros Discovery is working to bring together HBO Max and Discovery+ into a single app, and after Disney’s three-part bundle of Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu has seen success since its 2020 introduction. However, despite the latter it is widely expected Hulu will migrate to Disney+ once Disney gains full control of Hulu in 2024.

While there is certainly overlap that will be erased if the services do merge, the move would seem to make sense in the larger scope of Paramount’s strategy to create a service that has something for everybody. Not only would Paramount+ be the home for iconic kids’ content from Nickelodeon, broadcast favorites from CBS, NFL and English Premier League soccer, and Paramount Studios’ films, but also for one of the most enduring premium channels on cable. That is certainly an attractive marketing pitch as streaming competition continues to heat up.

Showtime’s current offerings include the breakout Yellowjackets, Billions, The Man Who Fell to Earth and City on a Hill among other drama series, as well as sports, documentaries, Vice and late-night show Ziwe. Fall premieres on the premium service include American Gigolo, Let the Right One In and the return of Your Honor and The L Word: Generation Q.

Content on Paramount+ includes original series like 1883, Halo, Star Trek: Discovery and Secret Headquarters with upcoming originals this fall slated to include Transformers: EarthSparkBlue's Big City AdventureTulsa King, On the Come Up, Criminal Minds, Wolf Pack, 1923 and the return of Star Trek: Prodigy, The Good Fight and Seal Team.

'PAW Patrol' Unveils 'Aqua Pups!' Theme; To Introduce New Character

A brand new PAW Patrol theme has been unveiled!

Titled "Aqua Pups!", the new sub-series will be sea themed, and introduce a new pup. Take a look at the pups in their new suits in the picture above!

Update (9/14) - According to a upcoming PAW Patrol: Aqua Pups! book, "Dive Into Puplantis", the new character that will be introduced in the sub-series is a merpup named Coral. The book also confirms that Mayor Humdinger will be the villain in the series.

As with previous themes, Spin Master and Nickelodeon will introduce "Aqua Pups!" toys so that fans can re-enact their favorite scenes at home.

At the moment, it's currently unknown when "Aqua Pups!" will premiere on TV. In the U.K., PAW Patrol: Aqua Pups! will kick off PAW Patrol's 10th anniversary celebrations.

The news follows a "Big Truck Pups" sub-series being unveiled earlier this year.

This will be the second sea-themed PAW Patrol sub-series, following "Sea Patrol".

PAW Patrol fans can stream full episodes of PAW Patrol, PAW Patrol: The Movie and PAW Patrol Live! At Home featuring "Race to the Rescue" on Paramount+. Try it FREE today at ParamountPlus.com.
