Nickelodeon Turkey Premieres 'Atchoo!'

Nickelodeon Turkey (Türkiye) today, Monday 2nd December 2019, premiered the brand-new animated series Atchoo! at 18:15! Following today's launch, Nick Türkiye will air two new episodes of Atchoo! back-to-back daily at 18:15 and 18:25 МСК. Atchoo! season one features 52 11-minute episodes.


Atchoo! invites boys and girls age six to nine to follow the adventures of Teodor Green (aka Teo), a nice 9 year old boy who has a very particular way to express his emotions: Beastly Sneezes! Since he was born, when feeling a strong emotion, he sneezes and turns into an animal! He can't control the sneezes and can't predict what kind of animal he'll turn into, but with the help of his friends he’ll always get out of it.

Atchoo is not just a comedy-based series, the stories transmit an important message: difficulties, fears and diversity are not necessarily all bad, but can engender endurance and originality.

Atchoo! is produced by Italian outfits Studio Campedelli, Cartobaleno, Rai Ragazzi and Indian animation firm Cosmos-Maya (Motu Patlu). Brands & Rights 360 (B&R360) serves as the shows distributor.

Nickelodeon International acquired the rights to air Atchoo! in September 2018, and is rolling the series out in 108 territories across Southern and Western Europe, Middle East and Africa, including Benelux, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Russia and sub-Saharan Africa.

Nickelodeon Picks Up Two Trophies at 2019 Licensing International Australia & New Zealand Awards

Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products (VNCP) and Haven Global took home two coveted trophies at the 2019 Licensing International Australia & New Zealand Awards!


Nickelodeon star JoJo Siwa received the "Best Girl’s License of the Year" award at the event for their licensing activities inspired by Nickelodeon star JoJo Siwa, whilst the "Nickelodeon Takes Over Pacific Fair by Showtime Attractions" on-the-ground activation won the "FMCG/Live Events Licensed Product or Campaign of the Year" award.

Voted on by industry experts, the 2019 Licensing International Australian & New Zealand Licensing Awards recognise excellence in the licensing industry, where retailers, licensees and licensors are rewarded for outstanding products and services. The awards also celebrate a special member of the licensing community for their long term contribution to the industry by inducting them into the Licensing International Hall of Fame. This year's inductees were The Original Wiggles (Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt).

Winners of Licensing International Australian & New Zealand Licensing Awards 2019 were presented with their trophies at a prestigious awards ceremony at Sandringham Yacht Club in Sandringham, Victoria on Thursday 28th November 2019.

Spotlight: Intu Lakeside


Described as "Essex's hidden gem" by regional managing director Colin Flinn, Intu Lakeside recently opened its 225,000sq ft expansion, as well as a £72m leisure addition. Retail Gazette paid a visit to learn more about why the shopping centre decided to grow its already-large space.

Essex may be a county known for its reality TV stars, Jamie Oliver and the birthplace of Anya Hindmarch and gifts and cards retailer Clintons – but it also happens to be home to one of the biggest shopping centres in the UK.

Enter Intu Lakeside, a 2,600,000sq ft retail destination that just got bigger. It recently unveiled a 225,000sq ft expansion and £72 million leisure extension in August this year.

Despite Lakeside’s already large size, Intu regional managing director Colin Flinn said there was a reason why the south-east England shopping centre expanded.

“The extension is very much in line with our strategy of transforming our centres, bringing people from further afield to spend longer and spend more and adding to the visitor experience which in turn helps other customers flourish,” he told Retail Gazette.

Since its expansion, the shopping centre is expected to increase footfall by 10 per cent – taking it from 20 million to 22 million.

“While footfall is currently up across the centre, the research we commissioned through CACI is telling us that we can expect a further 10 per cent increase in footfall as a result of the scheme being open,” Flinn said.

In addition to the expansion scheme, Intu has also spent £2 million on internal refurbishment at Lakeside.

“That’s sort of helped some of our customers come forward and do things with their stores,” he said.

“Both Zara and River Island have upsized and now look absolutely fantastic. Both of the new stores have click-and-collect, which is largely automated.

“We can expect a further 10% increase in footfall as a result of the scheme being open”

“It just keeps the pressure off the tills. Before, you’d find that people going to collect from Zara would clog up the till area. Having the automated system just takes that pressure away.”

After opening in 1990, Intu Lakeside first expanded in 2004, where it revealed its four anchor stores – Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, Debenhams, and Primark.

As part of its latest expansion scheme, Flinn said one of the centre’s key anchors is Nickelodeon.

The toy store based on the US TV channel opened its first European flagship in London’s Leicester Square back in 2014, which permanently shut down in 2017 after retailers such as Argos, Amazon, Smyths Toys Superstores, and The Entertainer stole market share.

Despite the Leicester Square store closure, Flinn was positive about the Nickelodeon store opening at Intu Lakeside because the centre “is very much a family-oriented space compared with Leicester Square, which predominantly consists of couples and distracted tourists”.

Over the summer, it was revealed that some of the UK’s biggest shopping centre landlords were forced to make £2.7 billion in write-downs in the past year on the value of their properties, compared to just £232 million the year before, thanks to a wave of CVAs and administrations from struggling retailers.

One of those centres was Intu, which reported write-downs of £1.3 billion last year.

Despite these figures, Flinn said Intu was “focusing on transforming the centres” as well as giving people “different reasons to visit and spend longer and spend more which will help the centre’s retailers flourish”.

He added that leisure had a positive impact on retail, which is why Intu Lakeside now houses Puttshack, Flip Out and Hollywood Bowl as part of its leisure offerings. It also started making use of the 7000sq ft of public ground behind the centre, which Flinn said occasionally holds live performances on stage.

“With these leisure offerings, people are here for longer, they will do a leisure activity, and go and spend time and money in the shops,” Flinn told Retail Gazette.

“The catchment we’ve got here is very much in the spending money mentality.”

In the past few months, the centre has also offered unique experiences to customers, one of them notably being its “Upside Down House” experience which grabbed visitors’ attention over the summer.

Intu customer experience director Roger Binks said at the time that the Upside Down House had been “a huge draw at Intu Lakeside and perfectly complemented the transformation of this much-loved centre into a place to relax, unwind, eat, play and shop”.

Flinn told Retail Gazette that the centre relies on social media because it was “a particularly effective platform” – but it went beyond just being a gimmick.

“We’ve been signing up visitors for a number of years through subscriptions to our free WiFi that we have across centres,” he said.

“Social media of course, is very efficient in terms of spreading news about our events across to visitors.

“We use all sorts of platforms to advertise the centre given our reach.

“Throughout the centre, we use digital screens for which we put on our own messages, and we can also monetise them by third party advertisers.

“The lighting, illuminated with the screens, that’s all choreographed as well and is a point of difference for visitor experience.”

Consumer products based on the brands are also in the pipeline.

A Fazenda do Zenon will debut on Nick Jr.'s platforms in Brazil in January 2020, with negotiations currently underway to bring the property to television.


Nickelodeon Brasil also revealed during an Upfront event in November 2019 that additional brands from The Children's Kingdom network will also eventually be included in the company's consumer product portfolio.

Preschool and plush toy specialists Rainbow Designs has announced that Paddington will continue to be a valued part of its character line-up following the renewal of the licensing agreement with The Copyrights Group for the UK!


Paddington has been part of Rainbow’s portfolio for several decades. 2020 will see not only the continuation and growth of the prestigious Classic Paddington and Paddington for Baby collections, but also the start of an exciting new adventure for Paddington.

Under the new agreement, Rainbow will also distribute product ranges from US toy partner Phat Mojo tied into all-new media content being developed, to include Nickelodeon's new CG-animated The Adventures of Paddington and the Paddington movies. The initial product launch linked to the TV series will take place in autumn 2020.

The Adventures of Paddington toy range is designed for a whole new generation of fans, who will discover Paddington for the first time through his new adventures on TV. The series is aimed at preschoolers and will air on Nickelodeon in the spring, following a launch special this festive season.

Fully animated in 3D, the new Paddington series, The Adventures of Paddington, sees a younger Paddington writing to his Aunt Lucy from Windsor Gardens. Each episode will open and close with Paddington's letter, as he tells Aunt Lucy what he has learned about life through the day's new exciting adventure.

Next year sees the 15th anniversary of the beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender, one of the greatest animated shows of the 21st century, and Nickelodeon is celebrating in style with a new steelbook collection of the entire series. Said series is being wrapped in some truly beautiful new artwork—and io9 has an exclusive look.

While we’ve already seen Caleb Thomas’ incredible triptych of Aang magically bending the elements that will grace the cover of each steelbook in the Blu-ray collection, io9 can exclusively reveal the artwork Thomas designed for each book that will be found on the back of each entry in the series. While the front covers celebrate Aang’s use of each element, the rear designs reflect some of the benders that helped him along his journey to become the ultimate master over bending.

On the rear of Book One: Water, we of course have Aang’s constant companion Katara, who was practically with him from the get-go alongside Sokka. 'SpongeBob', 'Rise of the TMNT', 'Pinky Malinky' and 'Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus' Nominated in 47th Annual Annie Awards

The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pinky Malinky and Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus have received nominations in the 47th Annual Annie Awards, which recognizes the year’s best in the field of animation!


“SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout,” an original mixed live-action and animated special celebrating the 20th anniversary of the beloved animated series, has been nominated in the "Best Special Production" category.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the current iteration of the iconic TMNT franchise, has been nominated in the "Best TV/Media - Children" category for the episode “Evil League of Mutants”.

Writers Sheela Shrinivas, Aminder Dhaliwal and Rikke Asbjoern have been nominated in the "Best Writing - TV/Media" category for their work on Nickelodeon's popular animated Netflix series Pinky Malinky.

And voice actor Richard Horvitz has been nominated in the "Best Voice Acting - Feature" category for providing the voice of antagonistic alien ZIM on Invader ZIM: Enter the Florpus, the made-for-TV movie based on Nickelodeon's cult favorite animated series Invader ZIM.

Additionally, Niko and the Sword of Light, which airs on Nickelodeon Netherlands, has been nominated in the "Best TV/Media - Children" category, and Tony Hale (Sanjay and Craig, Veep, Arrested Development) has been nominated in the "Best Voice Acting - Feature" category for his voice acting on Toy Story 4.

America’s Most Musical Family is a one-of-a-kind music competition series that will see 30 talented and diverse family bands performing in all genres take center stage in front of celebrity judges Grammy Award-winning global superstar Ciara, digital media sensation David Dobrik, pop icon and Broadway star Debbie Gibson and show host, singer and television personality Nick Lachey to compete for a recording contract with Republic Records and the chance to win a $250,000 cash prize in partnership with Capri Sun 100% Juice. Bands taking part range from a father/daughter duo, sibling groups and a 12-member multigenerational brass ensemble. The bands will battle it out over the course of 12 hour-long episodes and one half-hour special.
