Kevin Smith Reveals He's 'Tearfully Happy' Over 'Blue's Clues' Revival

Jay and Silent Bob and Clerks helmer Kevin Smith is apparently a pretty big fan of Nickelodeon's beloved preschool series Blue's Clues. The filmmaker took to Twitter on Tuesday to share that he's "tearfully happy" for the characters involved in the newly-released Blue's Clues revival sneak peek. In the trailer for Blue's Clues & You!, previous hosts Steve (Steve Burns) and Joe (Donovan Patton) return to talk to their on-screen cousin Josh (Joshua Dela Cruz). As seen in the trailer, Steve has gone on the become a "grown-up" detective, the catalyst in Smith's emotional response.


"In a world where the news cycle has the power to depress, frustrate, and terrify, I'm thankful it taught me that Blue's Clues Steve finally became the Detective he always wanted to be!" Smith tweeted. "I'm tearfully happy for a fictional character I've never met! Excellent fan service @NickJr!"

The official Nick Jr. Twitter account replied to Smith saying "He had to follow his dreams 💙🐾"


Blue's Clues & You! will serve as a revival of the classic television show that last appeared in 2006. Despite being new, the involvement of Steve and Joe show the latest iteration is in the same universe — you know, in case there were any continuity buffs out there wondering.

After Burns, the show's earliest host left the production in the early 2000s, conspiracies ran rampant. After all, the internet was still the deep unknown...well, at least more unknown more than it is today. In an interview with the Huffington Post, Burns surfaced to inform everyone he's alive and well — it was just time to leave the show.

“I left the show because it was just simply time to go. I was pretty much playing a boyish, older-brotherish kind of character on the show," Burns said. "I was getting older; I was losing my hair; a lot of the original gangsters on the show, like the people who created it, were all moving on to other careers. It just felt like time. I just had a gut feeling like it was time to go."

'Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Team Talk New Netflix Movie

Since it premiered last fall, Nickelodeon's Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has introduced a whole new generation of fans to Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael. Outside of the show airing on Nickelodeon, the series' reach is set to expand even more, with a feature-length animated film in production for Netflix. While there haven't been any major updates since the film was announced in February (along with a The Loud House movie for the streamer), ComicBook.com got some early details from the show's creative team at last month's San Diego Comic-Con. While the team didn't reveal any major plot points or spoilers, they hinted at the film's unique role in bridging the gap between Rise's first and second seasons.


"I think fans, old fans, are going to see something -- a unique take on a very familiar territory." executive producer Andy Suriano explained in ComicBook.com's video interview.

"And then you're going to season two, we up the ante, lots of surprises in store," executive producer Ant Ward continued.

"It's always about upping the stakes, right?" Suriano added.

"Yeah, and watching these characters grow in unexpected ways." Ward explained. "And then, with the movie, you kind of have to maybe see what comes down the line. But it's going to be a bit of both, you know? I think, if you're watching the show and you're a fan of the show, you're going to get a really complete experience with the movie. But it's also going to be a really exciting stand-alone set piece if you're not directly familiar with the show."

"Everybody dies, the whole thing," Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman joked.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reimagines the Turtles with new designs and new dynamics. The series is set during the team’s earliest days as ninja vigilante, with Raphael taking Leonardo’s usual role as team leader. Rather than fight Shredder and the Foot Clan, the Turtles deal primarily with the hidden mystical side of New York City, fighting often with the Yokai of Baron Draxum, the ruler of the New York’s “Hidden City,” voiced by WWE superstar John Cena.

The series' cast includes Ben Schwartz, Kat Graham, Omar Benson Miller, Brandom Mychal Smith, and Josh Brener.

Nickelodeon Slated to Begin Filming on 'Simon Fuller/Ryan Tedder-Produced Untitled Project' in December 2019

Musician Ryan Tedder has revealed in an awesome interview with iHeart Radio's Valentine In The Morning that Nickelodeon is slated to begin filming their upcoming brand-new scripted music series this winter!


Simon Fuller/Ryan Tedder-Produced Untitled Project is a scripted music series set in a boarding performing arts high school, with original music in every episode.

The series is being produced by Simon Fuller, a legendary, multi-hyphenate creator, producer and manager behind iconic franchises such as the global Idol phenomenon and Spice Girls, and Grammy Award-winning Ryan Tedder, the frontman of OneRepublic and writer behind countless hit songs from artists ranging from Beyoncé and Adele, to Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran and Kelly Clarkson, among others.

Nickelodeon will conduct a nationwide search to cast the show, which was announced during Nickelodeon Upfront 2019 earlier this year.

Talking to Valentine In The Morning, Tedder revealed that the pilot episode for the Simon Fuller/Ryan Tedder-Produced Untitled Project has already been filmed, and the goal is to start shooting the series in December.

Tedder also revealed in the interview that the show will be "funny for both parents and the kids", which fits in Nickelodeon's mandate to produce programming for the whole family, and describes the show as the element of the show Glee, but with all original songs.

Nick’s insights reveal that family time is the most important passion point for kids and parents today, with their top priority being to spend time together and look for opportunities through shared experiences. Today’s families state that watching TV together is their favorite activity, corresponding to the current 10-year high in co-viewing, where 44% of kids’ viewing is with an adult. To capture co-viewing opportunities, Nick is producing shows with built-in appeal to every family member, including: America’s Most Musical Family (musical competition series), The Crystal Maze (game show), Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader, The Substitute (hidden camera prank show), Are You Afraid of the Dark? (revival miniseries) and All That (revival).

Abu Dhabi, 28 August 2019: — Today, Nickelodeon and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) announced that global superstar Jason Derulo will host and perform at Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi 2019, which is coming to the Middle East for the first time on September 20th at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Travel YouTuber Haifa Beseisso will co-host the ceremony, making the biggest, slimiest party of the year in the region even more fun for kids.

With 15 billion streams worldwide and 17 multi-platinum singles, US singer and songwriter Derulo is the global superstar famed for chart-topping hits including “Swalla”, “Stupid Love”, “Want to Want Me” and his latest track “Mamacita” featuring Farruko.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi 2019 will be recorded on September 20th at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and will air on Nickelodeon on OSN in KSA, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain on September 24th at 16:00 KSA/17:00 UAE and will also be aired on Nickelodeon channels internationally.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi 2019 is part of Abu Dhabi Family Week, which is being organised by DCT Abu Dhabi to bring a series of activities for kids and families to the city. Additional activities include the brand new The World of Nickelodeon, a three-day Nickelodeon activation from 19th to 21st of September.

The World of Nickelodeon is the place to be for families and kids, where they can meet their favourite Nickelodeon characters and experience the real world of Nickelodeon in person. The World of Nickelodeon will feature a variety of play areas like a PAW Patrol branded area, PAW Patrol skills circuit, the Slime Zone, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles VR experience and pizzeria, SpongeBob museum, SpongeBob mini golf, SpongeBob arcades and Shimmer and Shine activities. Children can also interact with all their favourite Nickelodeon characters like Dora, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, PAW Patrol’s Chase and Marshall, and SpongeBob, as well as attend live entertainment shows and musical performances.

تنظم دائرة الثقافة والسياحة - أبوظبي "أسبوع العائلة أبوظبي " على مدى 10 أيام خلال الفترة من 19 إلى 28 سبتمبر، لتوفير برنامج حافل ومتنوع من الفعاليات الترفيهية والتعليمية للأطفال والعائلات، وفي مقدمتها العرض الموسيقى الشهير "بيبي شارك" الذي تقدمه شركة "بنك فونغ" الكورية، إلى جانب حفل "جوائز اختيار أطفال نيكلوديون أبوظبي" الذي يُقام للمرة الأولى في منطقة الشرق الأوسط.

كما تتخلل الأيام العشرة من " أسبوع العائلة أبوظبي" العديد من الأنشطة الترفيهية المتجولة والعروض الترويجية في مراكز التسوق والمتاجر والمطاعم والفنادق المشاركة في الحدث حول مختلف أرجاء الإمارة.

جوائز اختيار أطفال نيكلوديون أبوظبي 2019

يستضيف مركز أبوظبي الوطني للمعارض "أدنيك" حفل الجوائز يوم 20 سبتمبر، حيث يشارك النجم العالمي جيسون ديرولو في التقديم والأداء خلال حفل "جوائز اختيار أطفال نيكلوديون أبوظبي 2019"، إلى جانب المدوّنة المتخصصة بمجال السفر على يوتيوب هيفاء بسيسو في تقديم الحفل، ما يضفي مزيداً من أجواء المرح والمتعة على أضخم حفل مخصص للأطفال يقام خلال العام على مستوى المنطقة.

Abu Dhabi: A 10-day programme of fun-packed, educational events dedicated to children’s and family entertainment has been announced by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). Under the title Abu Dhabi Family Week, the festival will run from 19 to 28 September and will include the Pinkfong Baby Shark Live Musical and the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi 2019, the first time the globally renowned awards ceremony will be staged in the Middle East.

“Abu Dhabi Family Week’s series of exciting experiences is geared to strengthen the reputation of Abu Dhabi as a global leader for family-friendly events, and as a destination that delivers the best in entertainment and activities to visitors and residents alike,” said Saeed Al Saeed, Destination Marketing Director at DCT Abu Dhabi.

“Bringing Viacom’s Nickelodeon, one of the biggest children’s brands in the world, here to Abu Dhabi is hugely significant; particularly with such high-profile international participants as Jason Derulo. This and the other events, from mall and dining activations to science fairs and musical performances, will prove to be unforgettable and will no doubt help boost visitor numbers to the emirate.”

Aside from the flagship children’s entertainment event that is the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, another highlight will be a fun-packed show by South Korean education company Pinkfong, which features the worldwide singalong smash Baby Shark, taking place from 26 – 28 September at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Family Week will also see the return of Expo-Sciences International (ESI), which will run from 24 - 26 September at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The event will see more than 500 youths from the UAE, as well as over 2,000 from 68 other countries, taking part in science and technology programmes to encourage skill-building and creativity in aspiring young scientists.

In addition to these main events, the 10 days of Abu Dhabi Family Week will also feature touring shows, as well as retail, hotel and food offers from multiple partners across the emirate.

Taking place at ADNEC on 20 September, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards will be the biggest, slimiest party of the year for kids in the region. It will be hosted by musical superstar Jason Derulo, who will also perform, alongside co-host Haifa Beseisso – better known as popular YouTuber Fly With Haifa.

With 15 billion streams worldwide and 17 multi-platinum singles, US singer and songwriter Derulo is a global superstar famed for chart-topping hits including Swalla, Stupid Love, Want to Want Me and his latest track Mamacita featuring Farruko. “I’m honoured to be hosting the first Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in Abu Dhabi!” said Derulo. “We’ve got a thrilling show planned, and I can’t wait to be on stage celebrating with the kids. It’s going to be a great event, see you there!”

YouTube star and co-host Beseisso, who uses her channel Fly With Haifa to show her travels around the world and break cultural stereotypes, said, “Super excited to be on that stage, share some serious love, colour, slime and just have a fantastic time at the first Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in the Middle East! We’re going to have fun, Arab Style.”

In addition to featuring numerous musical and entertainment performances, the event will also give young fans the chance to vote for their favourite artists and talent in a wide range of categories. The awards, which have been secured to take place in Abu Dhabi for the next five years, will be accompanied by The World of Nickelodeon, a three-day exhibition at ADNEC from 19-21 September, where youngsters and their families can meet their favourite Nickelodeon characters.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi 2019 will be recorded on 20 September at ADNEC and will air exclusively on Nickelodeon on OSN in KSA, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain* on 24 September at 16:00 KSA/17:00 UAE and will also be aired on Nickelodeon channels internationally.

Abu Dhabi Family Week lines up a host of fun events

Visitors and residents in Abu Dhabi are in for a treat next month as the emirate's Department of Culture and Tourism has announced a 10-day programme of fun-packed, educational events dedicated to children’s and family entertainment.

Under the title 'Abu Dhabi Family Week', the festival will run from September 19 to 28 and will include the Pinkfong Baby Shark Live Musical and the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi 2019, the first time the globally renowned awards ceremony will be staged in the Middle East.

“Abu Dhabi Family Week’s series of exciting experiences are geared to strengthen the reputation of Abu Dhabi as a global leader for family-friendly events, and as a destination that delivers the best in entertainment and activities to visitors and residents alike,” said Saeed Al Saeed, Destination Marketing director at DCT Abu Dhabi.

“Bringing Viacom’s Nickelodeon, one of the biggest children’s brands in the world, here to Abu Dhabi is hugely significant; particularly with such high-profile international participants as Jason Derulo. This and the other events, from mall and dining activations to science fairs and musical performances, will prove to be unforgettable and will no doubt help boost visitor numbers to the emirate,” he said.

Aside from the flagship children’s entertainment event that is the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, another highlight will be a fun-packed show by South Korean education company Pinkfong, which features the worldwide singalong smash Baby Shark, taking place from September 26 – 28 at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Family Week will also see the return of Expo-Sciences International (ESI), which will run from September 24 - 26 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The event will see more than 500 youths from the UAE, as well as over 2,000 from 68 other countries, taking part in science and technology programmes to encourage skill-building and creativity in aspiring young scientists.

In addition to these main events, the 10 days of Abu Dhabi Family Week will also feature touring shows, as well as retail, hotel and food offers from multiple partners across the emirate.

Taking place at ADNEC on September 20, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards will be the biggest, slimiest party of the year for kids in the region. It will be hosted by musical superstar Jason Derulo, who will also perform, alongside co-host Haifa Beseisso – better known as popular YouTuber Fly With Haifa.

With 15 billion streams worldwide and 17 multi-platinum singles, US singer and songwriter Derulo is a global superstar famed for chart-topping hits including Swalla, Stupid Love, Want to Want Me and his latest track Mamacita featuring Farruko. “I’m honoured to be hosting the first Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in Abu Dhabi!” said Derulo. “We’ve got a thrilling show planned, and I can’t wait to be on stage celebrating with the kids. The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi 2019 will be recorded on September 20 at ADNEC and will air exclusively on Nickelodeon on OSN in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain on September 24 at 16:00 (UAE time) and will also be aired on Nickelodeon channels internationally.

Mystery and adventure returns to Nickelodeon in the third season of the hit live-action series Hunter Street, premiering Monday, July 29, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on TeenNick USA!

A lot has changed for the Hunter family in season three, and a mysterious treasure map brings them on a new and exciting adventure. The Hunter kids will once again need to work together, along with some new friends, to uncover the hidden treasure, outwit dangerous enemies, and discover major secrets about their family’s past along the way.


In the premiere episode, "The Birthday Gift", Anika is celebrating her 14th birthday when she is sent an unusual present – a miniature pyramid wrapped inside a torn treasure map. Before the kids can figure out what it means and who sent it, their parents announce they’ve booked a vacation to get away from renovations at the Hunter Museum. Once there, Sal discovers the gifts tied to a long-lost Aztec treasure – and an ancient curse. A new mystery has begun!

Hunter Street season three stars Kyra Smith as the outgoing leader Anika; Daan Creyghton as Sal, the genius of the bunch; Kate Bensdorp as the adventurous and youngest Hunter sibling Evie; Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as the talented artist Jake; Eliyha Altena as their quirky new friend Oliver; and Sarah Nauta as their brave new friend Jasmyn. Both Altena and Nauta also appeared in the Dutch counterpart of Hunter Street, De Ludwigs.

New episodes of Hunter Street will air weekdays at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on the TeenNick channel, and is produced by Blooming Media.

Daan Creyghton opens up about 'Hunter Street' on Nickelodeon | SPECIAL


Dutch actor Daan Creyghton chatted with Digital Journal about "Hunter Street" on Nickelodeon, which is returning for its third season. He also spoke about the impact of streaming and technology on the entertainment scene.

On being a part of the third season of Hunter Street, he said, "I couldn’t be more excited about Hunter Street returning. This season, the mystery will be bigger than ever. There are 30 episodes instead of 20, more amazing characters and the Hunters go to locations they have never been before, where many secrets will be revealed. Of course, there will be lots of funny scenes as well. You truly don't want to miss it."

Regarding his experience on the Nickelodeon show, "I love everything about working on this show and everything that comes with it. It was my first experience being a lead on a show, so I can say it is the best experience ever. My cast members and the crew feel like my second family and I am always happy to see them even early in the morning."

"When filming for the second season finished, I really missed seeing them every day, so we made it a point to still see each other for birthdays and other parties," he said.

"Apart from the on set experience, I really enjoyed the script. It's so mysterious and it’s always an adventure to get to live it day in and day out," he added.

On his daily motivations as an actor, he said, "I find motivation in stepping outside of my comfort zone and having the opportunity to portray someone other than myself. I also love being challenged daily and being pushed to be the absolute best I can be."

"On set, I learn new ways to react in certain situations, how to adapt, how to come up with creative solutions and to think about how Sal, who is so different from me, would act and react," he said.

Creyghton continued, "Another big motivator for me is the connection I have to not only the project material itself but the people involved. Most of all I hope to be a role model for my fans, to inspire them to believe in themselves and to always chase their dreams, which is exactly what I'm doing."

For young and aspiring actors, he said, "If you really love acting, then never give up and pursue that dream. Above all, if you want other people to believe in you, you must start with believing in yourself first. If you meet challenges and roadblocks, accept them as learning lessons and a part of the process and try to move forward but never let it hold you back."

"I am a firm believer that if you want something badly enough you will achieve it. Believe in yourself and then others will too," he added.

Digital transformation of the entertainment business

On the impact of streaming services and technology on the entertainment industry, he said, "I believe streaming services have opened a door for more content and more creativity. They give everyone the opportunity to access some of their favorite shows and films, right at their fingertips."

"I also believe it provides opportunities for new talent and creatives to reach larger audiences, to grow, and to impact the global community in a much more efficient manner," he added.

Regarding his use of technology in his daily routine as an actor, he said, "Since I live in the Netherlands, I do a lot self-taped
auditions for roles outside the country. I use my camera to tape, and after taping I send it over to the US."

"I also use Skype quite a bit for coaching sessions before an audition, and if I want to connect with my manager in Los Angeles, then I call him over FaceTime," he said.

For Creyghton, social media is of utmost importance. "Social media is also very important for me because it is how I can communicate with my fans. Appreciation from my fans is what gives me the motivation and courage to continue with my dream, and I hope I can also inspire them to follow their dreams. Social media is also great for creating my own content which helps to build my brand," he elaborated.

He listed the following actors as his dream acting partners: Ansel Elgort, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tom Holland, Jennifer Aniston, and Zendaya. "They're all very different, but I think that they are all extremely talented in their own way, and I believe I can learn a lot from them and the roles they choose. More importantly, they seem to be genuine and kind people," he said.

For his fans, he concluded about Hunter Street on Nickelodeon, "Tune in for an amazing third season full of mysteries and secrets.
