'The Fairly Oddparents' Flies onto Paramount Plus

Your wish has been granted: The Fairly Oddparents is now streaming on Paramount+!

Timmy Turner, a 10-year-old boy, has had it with his malevolent 16-year-old babysitter named Vicky! He summons his fairy godparents who have the power to grant him wishes. Some of the wishes are really helpful, others don't work out so well. Timmy's godparents Wanda and Cosmo have ideas of their own and always lead Timmy on interesting adventures.

Fairly OddParents was created by Butch Hartman (Danny Phantom, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Bunsen Is a Beast), and started out as a series of shorts featured as part of Nickelodeon's animation showcase series Oh Yeah! Cartoons. Following the popularity of the shorts, Nickelodeon greenlit a full Fairly OddParents series, which aired for 161 episodes over 10 seasons between March 30, 2001 – July 26, 2017. The series also spawned several movies and specials, including three crossovers with Jimmy Neutron and three live-action movies. Fairly OddParents is currently Nickelodeon's second longest running television series, after SpongeBob SquarePants.

A live-action adaptation of Fairly OddParents is currently in development at Paramount+.

Don't miss any of Timmy's adventures on The Fairly Oddparents, now streaming on Paramount+. Try 1 month FREE with Code MOVIES at ParamountPlus.com!

The Blue's Clues Pride Parade 🏳️‍🌈 Sing-Along Ft. Nina West! | Blue's Clues & You!

The Blue's Clues Pride Parade 🏳️‍🌈 Sing-Along Ft. Nina West! | Blue's Clues & You!

It's the Blue's Clue's And You Pride Parade and we need you to sing-along as the 'Families Go Marching' proudly!

If you’re looking for a fun and kid-friendly way to celebrate Pride, then Nickelodeon and Blue’s Clues & You! have just the ticket. Blue’s Clues, the long-running kids show, staged an animated Pride parade sing-along hosted by Drag Race alum Nina West. Using the tune “The Ants Go Marching”, West sings as floats go by showcasing a parade of animals representing the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. There are non-binary dolphins, trans beavers, bisexual sheep, and a host of animals with disabilities.

In the video, an animated version of West leads a Pride parade featuring adorable furry critters as she sings along to the melody of “The Ants Go Marching.” The song includes updated LGBTQ-inclusive lyrics celebrating the diversity of queer families, the importance of loving people for exactly who they are and the joys of allyship.

“This family has two mommies. They love each other so proudly and they all go marching in the big parade,” West sings before spotlighting another family featuring two dads.

As the parade continues marching, the song expands to more people in the LGBTQ community, including those who are trans and nonbinary.

“Ace, bi and pan grown-ups you see can love each other so proudly," West sings.

“Ace” is shorthand for asexual, a wide spectrum mainly referring to people who have little or no sexual desire. “Bi” is shorthand for bisexual, whereas “pan” is shorthand for pansexual, referring to those who are attracted to people of all genders. However, like all identities in the LGBTQ acronym, they exist on a wide colorful spectrum and vary from person to person.

Lindz Amer, producer of the video series Queer Kid Stuff, consulted with Nickelodeon for the sing-along video. As a “huge” Blue’s Clues fan, they say sitting in the Blue’s Clues chair was “for sure a career highlight.”

“I definitely felt a huge responsibility consulting with the team,” Amer (who uses they/them pronouns) tells Yahoo. “It’s the same responsibility I feel in all of the work that I do bringing LGBTQ representation to children’s media. Queer folks are not a monolith and I can’t possibly make every single queer person happy, especially considering the profound lack of LGBTQ [representation], especially in preschool content. All we can do is try our best and I think we did a pretty good job!”

They continue, “The team was an absolute dream to work with and it’s for sure the queerest thing I’ve ever seen happen in the preschool space. My main goals were twofold: to try my best to bring specificity to the video, that’s where the song’s vocabulary came in using words like queer, trans, non-binary, ace, pan and bi. And second, to expand the definition of family as it applies to the queer community, so acknowledging chosen family was a big part of that.”

“I hope families and queer folks see themselves in the video,” Amer adds. “Everything I do is in an effort to spread queer joy and this video fits perfectly in that mission.”

Reacting to the support of the video online, West tweeted, "Reading all the incredible comments about how impactful and powerful the latest Blue's Clues video for Pride has been to so many is inspiring and humbling. Representation matters. Teaching kindness matters. YOU matter. Thank you @Nickelodeon @nickjr for including me."

From app.:

Pride, [Nina] West explained is for all ages, with age-appropriate events happening for different audiences everywhere from libraries to nightclubs.

“Pride is just like the Fourth of July," she said. "There are some great family picnics, and there are some great evening activities and nightlife. Let’s not try to overcomplicate this: Everything can exist in the world, and I think families should have access to being able to celebrate Pride and celebrate their families and say, ‘Look how beautiful we are, too.'"

Kidfluence 2.0: South African Children Lead Influence on Household Purchase Decisions

Official ViacomCBS Networks Africa press release:

Kidfluence 2.0: SA children lead influence on household purchase decisions

A ViacomCBS Networks Africa insights study shows advertisers need to pivot

Among the online population in SA, children have an allowance of about R65 a week to spend, according to ViacomCBS Networks Africa insights study, Kidfluence Global 2021. Picture: SUPPLIED

Children are proving to be a consumer group that cannot be ignored in SA households as their influence continues to rise, stretching beyond the purchase of just toys and sweets. Today’s children are front and centre as key decisionmakers in the purchase of both low and high-ticket items across SA households.

A ViacomCBS Networks Africa insights study dubbed Kidfluence Global 2021 — The SA Edition has uncovered the growing influence of children in SA household purchase decisions. After connecting with more than 500 children aged between six and 12 and parents online, ViacomCBS highlights the fascinating and rising influence of children across a range of consumer categories, from everyday items to more expensive purchases. The result is children have emerged as a significant consumer group that shows no sign of slowing down.

Beyond pester power, more than half of six to 12 year olds surveyed in SA are using their powers of persuasion and are employing all the tools at their disposal to pitch their requests to their parents to ensure that their voice is heard when it comes to household purchase decisions. Moreover, it is no longer the responsibility of only the parents to keep family households running smoothly: children have taken up part of the responsibility by helping around the household and doing tasks. Their contribution does not stop there, children want to be included on purchase decisions on small or even big items.

This emerging consumer group also goes as far as researching brands to determine the best fit for the household. Using technology and mobile devices, ViacomCBS found that SA children look to a variety of sources for guidance before spending money. At least 48% of children in SA look at online sources, such as YouTube for information on brands before a purchase, citing the internet’s important role when it comes to children and their choices. This is aided by children having access to lots of devices.

Kidfluence Global 2021: The SA Edition. Picture: SUPPLIED/VIACOMCBS

Our research highlights that the percentage of children that own or use most of these devices increases with age. By age 12, all SA children (that form part of the online population) have access to a smartphone, and they are able to research products and brands accordingly to make informed decisions.

Interestingly, 89% of children in SA look to their parents for approval or opinion on brands. Parents in SA remain the trusted figures and the best source of guidance for children. Once more, we are seeing this ongoing collaborative approach to household purchases between children and parents highlighted further as the keystone of modern-day families.

ViacomCBS also researched the levels of influence children have across 26 broad categories ranging from vacations & day trips to food & grocery shopping, electronics, restaurants, telecommunications, and entertainment. We found that SA children have an overwhelming influence on the decision-making process in about all 26 categories. However, their biggest influence is on the household’s choice of entertainment (99%), followed by food & grocery shopping (97%) then the choice of restaurants at 93%.

This presents an opportunity for brands to be more inclusive of children’ perspectives and opinions and pay attention to the dynamic of today’s families — collaborative and support of each other. Children are valued within today’s families and should not be underestimated. They can be experts and masters of persuasion when it comes to household purchases.

SA children are also eagerly using their own money to purchase big and small ticket items. With money received for doing chores, doing well at school, birthdays, allowances, or selling toys, children are emerging with a lot of spending power.

On average, and among the online population in SA, children have an allowance of about R65 a week to spend. Globally, children are receiving a total of $894m on average each week — which is a significant amount of spending money to purchase items.

Whether children see products online, in-store or somewhere else, they understand and value specific brands. A staggering 85% of SA children told us that they only choose certain brands and 67% said it is worth paying more for a brand or product they prefer.

This indicates that children are aware and up to date on brands in SA and beyond. In fact, in their formative years, they already form opinions about which brands they prefer, and they understand the value of premium brands. This emphasises just how important children are to brands and businesses, both as consumers in their own right but also as influencers of those around them.

Additionally, today’s children are very engaged and open to brand messaging. Most SA children say they enjoy watching adverts for products that they like, and they follow certain brands, especially on social media. Interestingly, SA children are more loyal to brands than their global counterparts.

What does this mean for SA brands? They need to be more inclusive of children’s perspectives and opinions. Children have a significant amount of influence in decisions around both small and big purchases in the household. Brands can leverage this path to purchase, in various categories. Our Nickelodeon content and marketing strategies have been inspired by the research we conduct to ensure as a channel we become more accurate in depicting the current family dynamics and the research indicates there is an opportunity for more brands to do the same.

From the ViacomCBS Networks Africa perspective, co-viewership between children and parents for content is at its pinnacle, which is an open opportunity for advertisers. This is more evident on children’ channels where we see as much as 50% of the viewership on these channels driven by parents ages 25+. This is an ideal environment for advertisers to communicate with families as a unit (rather than children and parents separately) and leverage the collaborative process that we see in families in an uncluttered advertising environment.

There’s significant value to engaging both children and adults in the household. Times and culture have evolved. A new generation of children and parents has emerged, and these collaborative households are taking more than the household decision-making process. There is a definite opportunity to communicate with families collectively, rather than as separate individuals.

Venezuelan Nickelodeon Star Josué Benjamín Gives Shoes to Underprivileged Children

At just 12 years old, Venezuelan Josué Benjamín stands out not only for his work as a sculptor of iconic characters, but also for his altruism, especially giving away shoes to children who don't have any. This movement began in 2018, and to date he has given away more than a thousand pairs of shoes that have been donated to him through other organisations and the general public.

"One day I was in the car with my family and I saw a child my age barefoot walking amongst other people, that shocked me, but my biggest surprise was to see how people ignored him, they didn't even see him, I immediately told my dad to stop the car, I got out, ran to him and gave him my shoes and jumper," said Josué.

The moment was recorded in a video that he uploaded to social networks and invited other people to adopt this initiative under the challenge #Rtotomamiszapatos, which has spread to other countries and constantly receives videos of people who donate shoes that are new or in good condition to children who do not have them. He hopes to continue with this initiative and inspire more people to share and be empathetic with the less fortunate.

Josué became famous by creating plasticine sculptures of singers like Alejandro Sanz and J Balvin, a technique he learned when he was four years old, after his parents couldn't afford to buy him a Mario Bros he saw in the toy store.

"When we got home, I saw that my dad had some coloured sticks in his hands, he went into a room and after a while he came out, to my surprise he had the toy we saw in the shop in his hands, but it was made of plasticine, I loved it and the next day I played with it from early in the morning, but it fell apart with the heat of my hands. This made me realise that I could do anything and I started to create," Josué said.

His creations caught the attention of the Nickelodeon network, where he now has a TV show called El Taller de Josué, where he teaches and invites more children and teenagers to take advantage of their time at home, enjoying the creations from their imagination. The show airs every Saturday at 17:30 and is also available on the channel's YouTube channel

Josué also shares some videos of his work on social networks, he recently made a sculpture of a woman giving birth, in homage to his mother, so he invited his followers to value the affection of mothers, because it is incomparable.

In 2019 he presented his book ¿Qué culpa tengo yo, in which he recounts his evolution as an artist.

He is also experimenting in the music industry and is already preparing several surprises to spoil his fans.

He has made sculptures of Aracely Arámbula and José José, and even sang one of the singer's songs during his visit to Mexico.

He has 466,000 followers on Instagram.
