Paramount to Release 'The Rugrats Trilogy Movie Collection' on Blu-ray on March 8

The Rugrats Movie (1998)

This animated comedy finds Tommy Pickles (E.G. Daily) trying to return his baby brother to the hospital after being warned by his mean-spirited friend, Angelica (Cheryl Chase), that once his new sibling is born his parents won't care about him. But, soon after they embark on the mission, Tommy and his friends lose their way in the woods and get into trouble with a pack of wild monkeys who have escaped from the circus. The kids begin to think that maybe things weren't so bad at home after all.

Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2000)

In the long-running animated series' second feature film, the focus is on the show's perennial second banana, Chuckie (Christine Cavanaugh). Dads Stu (Jack Riley) and Chaz (Michael Bell) are unexpectedly sent to Euro-Reptarland in Paris, where the animatronic dinosaurs they built for the amusement park are malfunctioning, much to the displeasure of manager Coco La Bouche (Susan Sarandon). When the dislikable Coco gets interested in the single Chaz, Chuckie and his friends swing into action.

Rugrats Go Wild (2003)

Chuckie (Nancy Cartwright) and Tommy (Elizabeth Daily) find themselves stranded with their parents on a remote island. By coincidence, the adventurous Thornberrys are also exploring the island. So, with his talking dog, Spike (Bruce Willis), in tow, Tommy takes Chuckie on a walkabout meant to find Donnie Thornberry (Flea) and his sister, Eliza (Lacey Chabert). They'll need to be careful, though, as exotic leopard Siri (Chrissie Hynde) is hungry and not afraid to make her presence known.

Nickelodeon to Air 'Star Trek: Prodigy' Internationally

Ever since ViacomCBS announced that Star Trek: Prodigy would be moving from Nickelodeon to Paramount+ last year, international fans of Nickelodeon and Star Trek have been wondering how they'll be able to watch the new CG-animated series, especially fans in countries where the SVOD service is currently unavailable. Now, thanks to the official Star Trek franchise website, we now have the answer!


A recent article on StarTrek.com, recapping the events of "Kobayashi," includes ViacomCBS' updated release strategy for the series, including a bit that mentions that the Prodigy will be coming soon to Nickelodeon channels internationally!:

"Star Trek: Prodigy currently streams exclusively on Paramount+ in U.S. and Australia, and is coming soon to Paramount+ in Latin America and the Nordics as well as to Nickelodeon international channels, which are available in 180 countries globally. In Canada, it airs on Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel and streams on Crave. Prodigy is distributed by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group."

That's great news, especially for fans in regions where Paramount+ isn't yet present!

However, it's currently known whether that includes channels where Paramount+ is already present, including Latin America, Brazil and the Nordics, and where the service will be launching soon, such as in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Produced by the Nickelodeon Animation Studio and CBS Studios’ Eye Animation Production, STAR TREK: PRODIGY is already a hit amongst Paramount+ subscribers, and had the top-performing premiere day out of any original animated kids series on the service. The series was recently renewed for a second season, which is slated to premiere in 2023.

Watch: Star Trek Prodigy 'Kobayashi' Episode References Side by Side in New Video

Star Trek: Prodigy broke new ground with its iconic cameos in “Kobayashi”


On last Thursday’s (Jan. 6) episode, Star Trek: Prodigy brought back several iconic characters to the bridge of the Enterprise-D, albeit in holographic form, with most of their voices coming from archival footage, whether it was from television series or movies. It was definitely a feat to find the exact wording needed for each character to use in the right way on the episode.

As previously reported, Aaron J. Waltke, the writer and producer of the series, said he had to watch forty or fifty episodes of the series as well as read numerous scripts to find the exact verbiage. The dedication was well worth it as we were given an unforgettable episode with unforgettable characters. And, in case you were wondering exactly which episodes or movies were used, one fan has provided that to us in a video that’s a little over four minutes long.


In this particular video, by A Strange New Pod, we learn the exact episodes that were used, with the exception of all of Lt. Uhura’s comments, as some of her phrases were commonly used in more than one episode. The main gist of Mr. Spock’s ending speech to Dal in “Kobayashi” came from Star Trek: The Original Series, season two, episode thirteen, “Obsession” and season one, episode five. “Enemy Within.”

But there was one, very important phrase most Trekkies didn't have to look up as they know it by heart. “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” comes from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and was a perfect insert into “Kobayashi” as a reminder to Dal that it isn’t all about him and his struggle to be captain of the Protostar.

Kobayashi Maru is a seemingly unwinnable Star Fleet training exercise in the Star Trek universe designed to test the character of Starfleet Academy cadets in a no-win scenario. A ship in distress — the Kobayashi Maru — is stalled in the Neutral Zone. Try to save them, and the Federation will start a war with the Klingons. Do nothing, and they’ll die. Any choice leads to multiple levels of failure. It is, as said above, a no-win scenario designed to test how a cadet reacts under stress, and with a crew; not a problem to be solved.

Netflix to Add 'That Girl Lay Lay' In the U.S. and Internationally on Jan. 21

Netflix has acquired the rights to Nickelodeon's new live-action buddy comedy series That Girl Lay Lay, and will add the series to the platform's programming libraries in the internationally on January 21, 2022!


Currently confirmed countries where Netflix will add That Girl Lay Lay are: USA, Canada, UK and Hungary (A Sadie és Lay Lay kalandjai), although the show is expected to be added to more Netflix programming libraries the same day.

Although Netflix acquiring the rights to Nickelodeon shows isn't new, with recent examples being iCarly, Big Time Rush, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra and, in select territories, PAW Patrol, the situation is a bit different with That Girl Lay Lay, as the show only premiered on Nickelodeon in September last year and has only aired on Nickelodeon in the U.S., meaning that the series will be making its streaming debut on Netflix before ViacomCBS' own streamer Paramount+ in the U.S., and its debut on streaming before the show's linear TV premiere internationally (and before Nick+ in Canada). It's currently unknown if the series will also air on Nickelodeon (or YTV in Canada) following its SVOD premiere.

Netflix acquiring That Girl Lay Lay at this time is a bit strange, as ViacomCBS is planning to rollout Paramount+ in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria (GSA) this year, and is also partnering with Comcast to launch SkyShowtime, a new SVOD, in more than 20 European regions. It also comes when Paramount+ is still bolstering its own programming library with content from ViacomCBS brands, including Nickelodeon.


Generally, ViacomCBS licensing Nickelodeon programming to Netflix is part of the company's strategy to expose Nickelodeon franchises to new audiences - something the company has been open about. During a interview with The Hollywood Reporter in July 2021, Brian Robbins, President & Chief Executive Officer of Nickelodeon, and Chief Content Officer of Kids & Family for Paramount+ talked more about ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish’s strategy to license to third-party outlets in a bid to expose content to bigger audiences before ultimately taking it back as an exclusive:

"That’s been my strategy from the start. There’s two great examples of that. Avatar: The Last Airbender was a series that ran for three seasons on Nickelodeon and was never a huge show, but had an amazing following. We licensed that show to Netflix and it exploded. Then we put this spinoff of Avatar, The Legend of Korra, on Paramount+, and it crushed it. That led us to our new relationship and bringing the creators of Avatar back to Nickelodeon to form Avatar Studios. We are now on our way to a full-fledged franchise strategy, creating films and spinoffs out of Avatar.

"The second example, which actually has paid off this month, is iCarly. We knew we were going to do a reboot of iCarly, it just took us a while to put it together. Once we knew we had it going, we licensed just a season or two of iCarly to Netflix and it exploded with new kids discovering it for the first time, and fans who grew up on it rediscovered it. The demand for the new show was at such a fever pitch by the time [the new show] launched that it propelled iCarly to be, if not the most successful show on Paramount+, one of the most successful shows."

Robbins also confirmed that series such as Avatar: The Last Airbender and iCarly would eventually be taken off of Netflix and become Paramount+ exclusives, adding "[y]es. And it’s not like this is some secret that we’re pulling the wool over anybody else’s eyes on other services. They’re happy to have the content and they understand the strategy. We’re very upfront about it."


That Girl Lay Lay (13 x 30-minute episodes) is a all-new buddy comedy series that follows Lay Lay (Alaya “That Girl Lay Lay” High), an avatar from a personal affirmation app that magically comes to life, and her best friend Sadie (Gabrielle Nevaeh Green, All That) as they navigate life as teenagers and discover who they truly are.

In the premiere of That Girl Lay Lay, "Out The App," Sadie wishes upon a star that her hype-girl avatar, Lay Lay, were real, causing Lay Lay to magically come to life. Now that she is in the real world with Sadie, Lay Lay decides that she wants a teenage experience herself and enrolls in the local school. Using her innate charm, Lay Lay convinces Sadie that she needs to come out of her shell and the best way for her to stand out is to run for student council.


That Girl Lay Lay follows Lay Lay, an avatar from a phone app, and Sadie, a girl who is struggling to make her mark in school and in need of a best friend to talk to. After Sadie wishes upon a star that her hype-girl avatar Lay Lay was real, she magically comes to life, and the two friends learn that when they are together, they can accomplish anything. That Girl Lay Lay also stars Peyton Perrine III as Sadie’s brother, Marky; Tiffany Daniels as Sadie’s mom, Trish; Thomas Hobson as Sadie’s dad, Bryce; and Caleb Brown as Lay Lay and Sadie’s classmate, Jeremy.

The series marks Nickelodeon’s first project under an overall deal with That Girl Lay Lay to develop original multiform programming and music initiatives, and build a cross-category consumer products business. In addition to her new comedy series, Nickelodeon’s comprehensive strategy for That Girl Lay Lay includes supporting her music career and an exclusive line of consumer products, with merchandising agreements spanning categories such as softlines, toy, publishing and more.

That Girl Lay Lay is produced by Will Packer Media (Bigger), with Will Packer (Little, Ride Along) and Carolyn Newman serving as executive producers and Toy Monique Hawkins and Peggy Cheng overseeing. The series is created and executive produced by David A. Arnold (Side Hustle, Fuller House, Bigger), who also serves as showrunner. John Beck & Ron Hart (Side Hustle, Fuller House, Liv and Maddie) serve as executive producers.

Production of That Girl Lay Lay for Nickelodeon is overseen by Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan, Co-Heads of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action. Jessica Brown serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series.

Nickelodeon to Premiere 'Middlemost Post' in Latin America and Brazil in January 2022

Special delivery! Nickelodeon will premiere the brand new animated series Middlemost Post in Latin America (Latinoamérica) and Brazil (Brasil) on Monday 10th January 2022 at 16:00 (Br)! When a reformed raincloud teams up with a shipwrecked sea-postman and a magic walrus, the three form the Middlemost Post — the wackiest and most loveable postal service on Mt. Middlemost. The series is locally titled Middlemost Post: Aventura Postal in Latin America.


Marking Nickelodeon’s first original animated series in five years, Middlemost Post hails from SpongeBob SquarePants’ alum John Trabbic III and follows a former rain cloud, a brawny mailman and their magical pet walrus as they deliver packages to the unusual inhabitants of Mount Middlemost. The series combines quirky characters with hilarious adventures and unwavering friendship.

The U.S.-English dub of Middlemost Post voice cast includes Becky Robinson (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts) as Parker J. Cloud, an exuberant, relentlessly kind, overly eager, and most of all, pliable cloud who’s desire is to spread cheer; John DiMaggio (Futurama) as Angus Roy Shackelton, Parker’s boss and proprietor of the Middlemost Post; Kiren (Raising Hope) as Lily, Parker’s best friend and master inventor;  Colton Dunn (Superstore) as Mayor Peeve, the petty Mayor of the city of Somewhere locked in a petty, one-sided feud with Angus; and Johnny Pemberton (In the Loop) as Ryan, Mayor Peeve’s loyal assistant.

'PAW Patrol Live!: The Great Pirate Adventure' to Set Sail on New North American Tour in Spring 2022

Nickelodeon and VStar Entertainment Group have announced that the popular PAW Patrol Live! stage show PAW Patrol Live! "The Great Pirate Adventure" will once again be setting sail on tour across North America this Spring!


Based on PAW Patrol, the top-rated animated preschool series produced by Spin Master Entertainment, the action-packed, music-filled productions PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue" and PAW Patrol Live! "The Great Pirate Adventure," bring the beloved characters from the series to life off-screen.

There are two PAW Patrol Live! touring stage shows: PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue" and PAW Patrol Live! "The Great Pirate Adventure". Currently, only "The Great Pirate Adventure" is scheduled to tour.

PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue" takes place on the day of the Great Race between Adventure Bay's Mayor Goodway and Foggy Bottom's Mayor Humdinger, but Mayor Goodway is nowhere to be found. Ryder summons the PAW Patrol to rescue Mayor Goodway and help her finish the race. Using their unique skills and teamwork, the pups show that "no job is too big, no pup is too small," and share lessons on friendship, social skills and problem-solving as they make several heroic rescues on their race to the finish line. The performance is an interactive live stage show, encouraging audiences to engage through call and response and audience interaction, dance the Pup Pup Boogie and help the pups rescue Mayor Goodway and win the race! Classic theatrical scenery, along with a high-tech video wall, visually transports families to an authentic PAW Patrol environment, including locations from the TV series, like Adventure Bay, The Lookout, Seal Island, Farmer Yumi's farm and Jake's Mountain.

PAW Patrol Live! "The Great Pirate Adventure," debuted in 2017 and takes place during the Pirate Day celebration in Adventure Bay. When Cap'n Turbot falls into a dark and mysterious cavern, it's the PAW Patrol to the rescue! While saving Cap'n Turbot, Ryder and the pups discover a secret treasure map that leads them on an epic adventure. The pups need all paws on deck, as they set sail to save the day and find the pirate treasure before Mayor Humdinger finds it first.

Using Bunraku, puppetry elements are built into costumes worn by performers to create life-size pups that wag their tails, blink their eyes, move their mouths and engage the audience throughout their adventure. The costume design brings a fun, realistic parallel between the animated series and the live show. Each pup's all-important Pup Pack and vehicle also makes an appearance during the show.
