Meet And Greet Nickelodeon UK Presenter Anna Williamson At Bridgnorth Children's Festival In Shropshire, UK On Sunday 26th August 2012!

From the Shropshire Star:
TV's Anna to the rescue for Bridgnorth Children's Festival

Organisers of Bridgnorth Children's Festival say they have avoided 'a potential disaster' after the star attraction was forced to pull out.

Children's TV host Anna Williamson
With just two weeks to go before the popular event, children's favourites and headline act The Bopps unexpectedly cancelled their appearance. But organisers rallied to book TV presenter Anna Williamson, best known for hosting [Nickelodeon UK's "Camp Orange" and] GMTV's Toonattik, to take their place.

Festival activities director Mark Gibbons said he had been desperate to find a suitable replacement.

He said: “When I was contacted by The Bopps, I have to admit I did panic, but I didn’t want any children looking forward to seeing someone from TV to miss out.

"Anna Williamson is best known for hosting Toonattik. She is instantly recognisable and extremely popular and, fortunately, she is able to come to Bridgnorth on August 26."

Miss Williamson will make two appearances at Entertainments Zone in The Castle Hall at 2pm and 4pm, before Disco Daddy closes the festival at 5pm.

Having started out on the Disney Channel, she is now a presenter and reporter on ITV’s Daybreak and alongside her former Toonattik co-host Jamie Rickers on Nickelodeon’s Jamie’s & Anna’s Big Weekend.

She is also an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and the Young Variety Club.

Mr Gibbons said: "Anna is a qualified and practising volunteer counsellor for Childline, a cause she is committed and passionate about, so she will fit in well with the children's festival's values and aims.

"We know lots of children and young people will enjoy seeing her perform and having the opportunity to meet her in person."

The festival takes place on August 26 and will include a free sports zone at Bridgnorth Leisure Centre, arts zone at Castle Hall, gaming zone at The Bridge Bar, under fives zone at Bridgnorth Baptist Church and refreshment zones at St Leonard’s and Bridgnorth Baptist churches

Entry to the festival costs £4 for children, £2 for under fives and £1 for adults accompanying children.

Shropshire's Great Days Out - Bridgnorth Children's Festival

Ben Bentley continues his month-long campaign to highlight the area’s top visitor attractions. Today it’s the turn of Bridgnorth Children's Festival.

Click here for an overview of the great days out campaign and check back each day for the latest idea.

Where is it? Across a series of activity zones at various venues in and around Bridgnorth High Street. The Children’s Festival is on the same day as the Bridgnorth Music & Arts Festival and the Bridgnorth Food Fair, so it really does have something for everyone.

When is it? August Bank Holiday, Sunday, August 26, from 11am to 6pm – you can buy wristbands from 10:30am at the Information Zone in the High Street

What is it? Shut the High Street off, because here is a great low-cost, family-focused day out for everyone.

Ever seen granny on a bouncy castle? You could here. Want to try water zorbing? The zorbing ball is back in town to try. And if you have missed out on the Olympics – never mind, have a go on the UK’s biggest Olympic themed mega inflatable assault course.

The annual event includes a fun zone featuring huge bouncy castles, a climbing wall, a mega assault course, and an entertainments zone with roving street performers; Creaky Knee Stories; Magic Russ and circus skills with Simon Roe.

Not forgetting a planned appearance from the TV star of Nickelodeon, GMTV and ITV's Daybreak, Anna Williamson, best known for hosting Toonatik on GMTV. Anna, who was also a member of girl-band Blush, will be performing at the entertainments zone in the Castle Hall.

There is also a sports zone with free fun swimming, martial arts and electric go-karting, an arts zone with hands-on pottery, junk, painting and music workshops.

The gaming zone for kids aged 14 years plus features Xbox and PlayStation competitions and to cap it all there is Bridgnorth’s very own high energy Disco Daddy with an end of Festival disco party, plus a family film showing at the Majestic Cinema where adults with Festival wristbands get in at special prices.

How much is it? Entry to all Activity Zones is by wristband - children £4; Under 5s £2; adults accompanying children £1. Parents and carers must accompany children at all times.

Verdict: You won't find a better day out for all the family to enjoy at such a reasonable cost. Now in its sixth year, this is one of Shropshire and the West Midlands’ top family events.
