Nickelodeon has slightly changed the name of the network's upcoming animated preschool series, HexVet!
According to recentfilings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Nickelodeon has renamed HexVet as HexVets and Magic Pets.
The filings also reveal that Nickelodeon's parent company, Paramount Global, has applied to trademark the show under NICE Classes 41 (education, entertainment, sporting and cultural services) and 28 (games; toys; sports equipment).
Announced during Nickelodeon Upfront in March 2022, Nickelodeon is bringing the magical world of Willows Whisper to life with HexVets and Magic Pets, a brand-new animated preschool series based on the eponymous BOOM! Studios graphic novels by Sam Davies. The CG and 2D-hybrid adventure-comedy series (20 episodes) follows unlikely best friends Nan and Clarion as they navigate life's weird and wacky challenges, while apprenticing to be magical veterinarians for fantastical creatures.
Paramount Consumer Products will lead consumer products cross-category licensing worldwide for the HexVet property.
“The high-stakes adventures, wild antics and heartfelt camaraderie Nan and Clarion have in the HexVet graphic novels are all great qualities we look for in an animated series,” said Ramsey Naito, President, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. “It’s incredibly exciting to expand the HexVet world with an original series that will deepen the connection young readers have with the novels and capture the imagination of new fans of all ages.”

As HexVets in training, Nan and Clarion are ready to tackle medical maladies in beasts magical or mundane, find their familiars, and earn their wands and pointy hats--all while dodging covens of animal smugglers and dragons with heartburn. Under the tutelage of the talented Dr. Talon, these young HexVets in training will learn how to cure any animal, from a pygmy phoenix with bird flu to a unicorn with a broken horn.
HexVet is an all-ages original graphic novels series written by beloved cartoonist Sam Davies and published by BOOM! Studios through their award-winning KaBOOM! imprint, home to R.L. Stine’s Just Beyond and more. The graphic novel series debuted in 2018 with HexVet: Witches-in-Training to much critical acclaim, then released the second book, HexVet: The Flying Surgery, in 2019. HexVet was a Scholastic Book Fair selection in 2019, and has since sold over 60,000 copies and is distributed internationally in over 132 countries. BOOM! Studios is slated to release additional volumes in the series.
HexVets and Magic Pets is developed for television by Nicole Dubuc (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, The Rocketeer), who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Frank Molieri (Transformers: Rescue Bots, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie) serves as co-executive producer and Kendall Michele Haney as story editor. The series is also executive produced by Stephen Christy (Just Beyond) and Ross Richie (2 Guns), with Mette Norkjaer serving as co-producer, for BOOM! Studios. Production of HexVet for Nickelodeon Animation is overseen by Eryk Casemiro, Executive Vice President, Nickelodeon Animation, Global Series Content. Kate Crownover serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series.
A premiere date for HexVets and Magic Pets is still to be announced, however, when the series was first announced, Nickelodeon planned to launch HexVets and Magic Pets in the U.S. in 2023, followed by a international launch.
Update (8/9) - Writer and illustrator Noah Wait has revealed that Nickelodeon is slated to premiere HexVets and Magic Pets during "early 2024". Wait, who wrote two episodes for Bubble Guppies season six, has written three episodes of HexVets and Magic Pets.

NEW AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER MOBILE GAME IN DEVELOPMENT BY TILTING POINT, AN GAMES AND PARAMOUNT CONSUMER PRODUCTS
Multiplayer Strategy Game Launching 2024
NEW YORK – August 9, 2023 –Tilting Point, one of the leading global publishers of free-to-play games, and real-time strategy game developer AN Games, under license from Paramount Consumer Products, are developing a multiplayer strategy mobile game focused on Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise. Based on the renowned animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, the strategic mobile game will have players explore the Avatar world, interact with beloved characters and work together with other players to defeat a Barbarian Death Cult that worships an evil spirit set on dominating the world. Launching in 2024, the game’s official title and additional details will be announced in the coming months.
In this multiplayer strategy mobile game, players will take on the role of a leader tasked with building an army and community to restore balance in the Avatar world. Strategy is key as players will need to build cities, manage resources, construct and upgrade buildings, explore the world, and engage in tactical combat to become victorious. With a focus on city building, cooperative gameplay, and exploration, players will work together to expand territories, manage resources, and restore harmony to the Avatar world.

LAWMEN: BASS REEVES will bring the legendary lawman and outlaws of the Wild West to life. Reeves (Oyelowo), known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded. LAWMEN: BASS REEVES is an anthology series with future iterations that will follow other iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history.

ATLANTA – AUGUST 8 – Today, Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is back in SMITE! The most popular crossover universe in the game gets a new batch of fan-favorite characters. Three new God skins are available, all drawn in the characteristic anime-like artstyle that players love about the SMITE x Avatar collaboration. Fans of the series, rejoice: community-requested Toph comes in along with a new Avatar, Roku!
Young Toph, the prodigy earthbender, is playable in SMITE as Scylla. All of her four abilities have been transformed to showcase Toph’s geokinetic powers, hurling rocks and smashing boulders onto enemies.
Players can also become the wise and benevolent Avatar Roku, Aang’s renowned predecessor. The firebender Avatar is available along with his adopted dragon Fang as a skin for Yu Huang.
What’s more, Toph Scylla has an alternative version, Fire Nation Toph. She is offered for FREE after unlocking 3 elements from the Avatar event.
Players have the freedom to choose between 2 unlock methods for Toph and Roku: purchasing them directly or rolling the Avatar Chest for a better value. The Chest is also home to Aang, Korra, Zuko, Azula, and more Avatar heroes.
SMITE’s resident firebender, the Fire Giant, has seized the opportunity to invade the Arena. Yes—the fearsome Jungle Boss is making his first ever appearance out of Conquest and into the Arena Map as a new match objective. His arrival has transformed the entire Arena setting. The map is now blazing HOT with Underworld lava pouring into the stands. Can the crowd take it? More importantly: can you?
Defeating the Fire Giant grants a powerful teamwide buff—tailored specifically for Arena gameplay. “Attack Fire Giant!” Unless you should rather contest him? Players will need to adapt to each Arena match to make the most of this new feature, a gateway to victory.
The Fire Giant also brings in a brand new feature, Pyroclast Boulders. Hit those magmatic rocks to hurl them at enemies and knock them up! Last but not least, the epic Bonus Round is back. At the end of each Arena match, both teams get one last fight with sudden death, ringed by lava.
This is the beginning of a whole new era in Arena – one dominated by the Fire Giant’s presence.
