‘The Really Loud House’ Shuts Down Production Due To WGA Writers Strike Picketing

Production on the second season of Nickelodeon’s The Really Loud House has been forced to shut down as a result of picketing, Deadline is reporting.

The series is the second project in New Mexico to shut down this week as a result of the writers strike; Max’s Duster was shut down Tuesday, May 23. The Really Loud House films in Albuquerque.

It’s not clear when production will resume.

Based on the Emmy-winning animated series, the series ranked as the top live-action show on cable among kids 6-11 during its first season, which debuted in November.

Season 2 was set to feature more adventures in the town of Royal Woods as Lincoln Loud continues to navigate the chaos of living in a family with ten sisters, with his best friend Clyde McBride. Nickelodeon has ordered 20 episodes for season two. A Halloween movie, A Really Haunted Loud House is slated to premiere on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ later this year.

The series and movie stars Wolfgang Schaeffer as Lincoln Loud as well as Jahzir Bruno, Eva Carlton, Sophia Woodward, Catherine Bradley, Annaka Fourneret, Aubin Bradley, Lexi Janicek, Ella Allan, Mia Allan, Jolie Jenkins and Brian Stepanek.

The Really Loud House series is executive produced by Tim Hobert, who is also showrunner. Jonathan Judge and Michael Rubiner serve as executive producers. Production for Nickelodeon Studios is overseen by Shauna Phelan and Zack Olin, Co-Heads of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action. Brittany Cope serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the franchise.

Enjoy all that Bikini Bottom has to offer on Paramount+, the pineapple-home of the SpongeBob Universe on streaming — where SpongeBob SquarePants reigns as the No. 1 kids’ & family title. All-new episodes of the platform’s original series Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years debut on May 26, with a second season due to set sail exclusively on Paramount+ next year.

In these all-new episodes, SpongeBob, Sandy, and Patrick get split up into separate cabins, an accident causes Patrick and Karen to switch bodies and Narlene and Nobby disguise themselves at Camp Master Krabs, among many other adventures. In a spongeriffic clip shared by Animation Magazine, from the episode “Are You Smarter Than a Smart Cabin?,” our favorite squirrel genius invents a “Smart Cabin” to help the gang avoid doing their chores.

These new Kamp Koral adventures join a treasure chest of SpongeBob content on the streamer. All of the franchise’s films, such as the Paramount+ original The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, plus The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie are also available on the service. As of May 31, Seasons 1-12 of the SpongeBob SquarePants television series library will be available, and the crossover special SpongeBob SquarePants Presents The Tidal Zone will make its Paramount+ debut.

Additional titles available to stream include The SpongeBob Musical, SpongeBob DocuPants: A Bikini Bottom Documentary and SpongeBob As Told By.

Since its launch July 17, 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has been the most-watched animated series for 21 consecutive years and is one of the most widely distributed properties in Paramount International history, seen in more than 170 countries, translated in 29+ languages, and averaging more than 100 million total viewers every quarter. The series was created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank, California. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurable optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.

Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years is the first-ever SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff. The CG-animated prequel series follows 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants and his pals during summer sleepaway camp where they spend their time building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral. The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation, The Patrick Star Show is a family sitcom starring Patrick and the rest of his family as they are constantly disrupted by Patrick’s wild whims and surreal imagination. The Patrick Star Show, the second spinoff of SpongeBob SquarePants, debuted July 9, 2021 on Nickelodeon. The original series is renewed for a second season (26 episodes).

Paramount Moves Up 'TMNT: Mutant Mayhem' Release Date to Aug. 2; Unveils New Posters; To Drop New Trailer on May 31

Paramount Pictures has bumped up its nationwide release date for the CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem from Friday, August 4 to Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Additionally, to celebrate World Turtle Day, the studio has unveiled two new posters for the movie, below, and has revealed that it'll drop the film's second trailer on May 31!

The film's only competitor set for its new date is an opera, that being Fathom Event’s Met Summer Encore: Il Trovatore. Its theatrical release follows those of such major studio titles as Warner Bros Barbie and Uni’s Oppenheimer, which share the date of July 21st, along with Disney’s Haunted Mansion (July 28). Coming two days after its opening is that of Warner Bros’ shark pic The Meg 2: The Trench (August 4).

Moreover, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem's new release date means that it still won’t get any Imax or PLF screens even for those first two days since those auditoriums will be going to Chris Nolan’s Oppenheimer or Greta Gerwig’s Barbie or Disney’s The Haunted Mansion.

However, it’s the latest big theatrical release to opt for an extended Wed-Sun weekend instead of a conventional Fri-Sun debut. Universal’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie decided to open two days early and ended up with a $146 million Fri-Sun frame and a $204 million Wed-Sun debut. Universal knew the Illumination toon would garner strong consumer word-of-mouth and would take advantage of kids already out for spring break.

Paramount choosing to open Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part I not on July 14 but instead on July 12 is slightly more complicated. Presuming the latest Christopher McQuarrie-directed Ethan Hunt actioner is as crowd-pleasing as Rogue Nation in 2015 and Fallout in 2018, Paramount surely wants to build buzz and consumer word-of-mouth heading into the traditional Fri-Sun weekend. Moreover, going two days early gives the Tom Cruise flick two extra days of Imax, Dolby and related PLF screens before losing them the next week to Oppenheimer and (in perhaps some non-Imax cases) Barbie.

To the extent that there is any three-dimensional chess involved, moving the buzzy and kid-targeted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated flick up gives a little less time for Disney’s second attempt at a live-action Haunted Mansion to be the de-facto event film for kids. In the pre-COVID days, plenty of films, especially non-tentpole films, would opt for a Wednesday debut so as to build up word-of-mouth before heading into the standard Fri-Sun launch.

Or, as with Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace, opening on a Wednesday can spread the wealth so the die-hards don’t crowd out the general audiences. Opening The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard or Godzilla Vs. Kong on a Wednesday in the first half of 2021 was also an implicit way of assuring folks they could see the film on its opening jaunt without being in a jam-packed theater full of people.

As for this overall shift to Wednesday openings, it may portend to a trend we saw in the years before COVID, where word of mouth and buzz took slightly more precedence over frontloaded opening weekends. In pre-COVID times that was in the form of nationwide sneak previews for kid-friendly tentpole films like Bumblebee, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World and The LEGO Movie 2.

Paramount tried likewise earlier this year with nationwide sneak previews of the Chris Pine/Michelle Rodriguez action comedy Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and it cannot be argued that word-of-mouth didn’t click.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O'Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem cast includes:

  • Micah Abbey as Donatello
  • Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo
  • Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog
  • Rose Byrne as Leatherhead
  • Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo
  • John Cena as Rocksteady
  • Jackie Chan as Splinter
  • Ice Cube as Superfly
  • Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut
  • Ayo Edebiri as April O'Neil
  • Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman
  • Post Malone as Ray Fillet
  • Brady Noon as Raphael
  • Seth Rogen as Bebop
  • Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko
  • Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom

Nickelodeon Movies and award-winning Point Grey Productions' Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver are producing the all-new iteration. The film marks Nickelodeon Animation's first-ever CG-animated theatrical production, in partnership with Naito and Jason McConnell, who are overseeing production for Nickelodeon. For Point Grey, Lukas Williams is co-producing and Josh Fagen is overseeing. Paramount Pictures will handle worldwide distribution of the film.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is directed by Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Gravity Falls, Disenchantment).

Considered one of the most popular kids' franchises, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a classic, global property created in 1984 by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman.  It first debuted as a successful comic book series and then became a hit animated TV show, a live-action television series and later spawned numerous blockbuster theatrical releases. The property is a global consumer products powerhouse, winning in every category that has hit shelves to date—with toys, apparel, video games, DVDs and more—and generating billions of dollars at retail.

Nickelodeon brought the franchise to life again in 2012 with the CG-animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and then reimagined the Heroes in a Half-Shell with the 2D-animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 2018.

Nickelodeon's Beloved 'Blue's Clues' Hosts Reunite This Weekend in New 'Blue's Clues & You!' Episode and TV Premiere of 'Blue's Big City Adventure'

Kids and families can spend the holiday weekend with the Blue's Clues crew, as Nickelodeon debuts a brand-new episode of Blue's Clues & You! and the Paramount+ original feature-length movie Blue's Big City Adventure--both featuring all three beloved hosts, Josh Dela Cruz, Steve Burns and Donovan Patton.

"The Case of the Missing Thinking Chair," premiering Friday, May 26, at 11:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon, follows Josh and Blue as they embark on a puzzling quest to find the missing Thinking Chair. With a mystery this huge, they need to call in the Blueprints Detective Agency for Steve's help in solving the case. This episode is written and directed by Burns, who will also reprise his role of Steve. Former Blue's Clues star Donovan Patton also joins the fun in reprising his role as Joe, Steve's brother and Josh's cousin on the series.

Then, Blue's Big City Adventure, the feature-length musical spectacular, will make its TV debut Monday, May 29, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The Paramount+ original movie launched on the streaming platform last November and features all-new songs and choreography, along with special star appearances by BD Wong, Ali Stroker, Taboo, Alex Winter, Phillipa Soo and Steven Pasquale.

Blue's Big City Adventure follows Josh (Dela Cruz), who gets the opportunity of a lifetime to audition for Rainbow Puppy's Broadway musical, and Blue (Traci Paige Johnson) as they skidoo to New York City where they meet new friends and discover the magic of music, dance and following one's dreams. The entire Blue's Clues crew is reunited for this special movie event, with fan-favorite animated friends--Rainbow Puppy (Brianna Bryan), Mr. Salt (Nick Balaban), Mailbox (Doug Murray), Tickety Tock (Ava Augustin) and Slippery Soap (Jacob Soley)--and all three hosts together for the first time in the Big Apple.

Fans may remember that Burns served as the children's series host from 1996 to 2002 and would later be replaced by Donovan Patton as Steve's brother Joe before Dela Cruz took over hosting duties in 2019.

Both Burns and Patton have been warmly welcomed back to the world of Blue's Clues by millennials and their kids. In 2021, Burns surprised now-adult fans of the series -- which debuted in 1996 -- with a heartfelt apology on social media for his abrupt 2002 departure from the series.

He even took to late night to offer The Late Show host Stephen Colbert a hug

The 49-year-old later opened up in a candid interview with Variety about his decision to walk away from the children's program and keep a low profile in the years that followed. Now, he says, reuniting with the lovable animated pup on screen feels right.

"I've never enjoyed being Steve more than I do now," he shared. "I get to wear a trench coat. It's like Grover-meets-Columbo -- a clown character. That's really freeing somehow."

The trio shared with PEOPLE in December that they have maintained a close relationship throughout the show's development.

"We really are friends," explained Burns to PEOPLE. "We actually do see each other socially. And we would be friends even if we weren't on the show, I think if we met." Dela Cruz echoed the same sentiments while also praising Burns for the warm welcome that began from the moment he first auditioned for the role.

"Steve ambushed me at my audition," revealed Dela Cruz. "He emerged from the curtains, and I was like, 'Hey, Steve.' What I loved about that interaction was that as soon as he opened his mouth, I felt calm, I felt like I belonged there, and I felt taken seriously."

"Then getting to know Steve and Donovan on a personal level beyond that was so freaking cool because we are cut from the same cloth," he explained. "We're cousins on the show, and it's like a family reunion every time we get together, but the family that you love to see."
