The Nickelodeon Street Parade Returns to the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show

Sydney, Australia - After a year on hiatus due to COVID-19, the Sydney Royal Easter Show is back bigger and better than ever before!


As part of the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show, the fan-favourite Nickelodeon Street Parade is returning - and the word on the street is that it's going to be bigger and slimier than ever before!

Attendees are invited to join Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Shimmer & Shine, Blaze from Blaze and the Monster Machines, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the PAW Patrol as they take to the streets with the parade of a life-slime! Enjoy the Nickelodeon Street Parade four times per day and twice Daily in the GIANTS Stadium.

800,000 reasons why media partners love Sydney’s Royal Easter Show


Despite a cap on crowd numbers, the organisers of Sydney’s Royal Easter Show have reported on the success of what was the biggest event held in the world in the past months. This year the Show welcomed 800,000 people to the event over the 12-days.

The show has long been a magnet for commercial partners looking to engage with a big audience and Network 10, Nickelodeon, Nine Radio, News Corp, The Land and ARN were along for the ride this year. Some of them literally.

ARN again presented the Kyle and Jackie O Haunted House and their branded World Famous Showbag, promoted the KIIS brand (the KIIS eye Ferris wheel) as well as WSFM’s Jonesy and Amanda and The Edge. Ben Fordham broadcast his 2GB breakfast program from the Show, Nickelodeon was promoting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Daily and Sunday Telegraph sponsored a number of events.

Network 10 was promoting 10 News First, The Bachelor Australia, Australian Survivor, The Amazing Race Australia, The Masked Singer Australia, Neighbours, SpongeBob SquarePants, MTV, MasterChef Australia, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, South Park, and The Dog House Australia via different activations.

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW’s head of commercial Paul Bowd told Mediaweek:

“The Show was a massive success with capacity crowds on 10 of the 12 days and an additional 20,000 attendees added on the last weekend (after approval from NSW Health). We can confidently say this year’s Show has been the biggest event in the world over the last 12 months and it will certainly go down in the RAS history books.

“The feedback I have received this year from our sponsors and exhibitors has been unbelievably positive as the crowd monitoring system and capped daily crowds allowed more customer engagement and trading well above expectations.

“Our partners have been brilliant and in an extremely challenging year they invested both financially and emotionally with us and the show wouldn’t have happened the way it did without their brilliant support. Being a not-for-profit organisation, the support of our partners allows us to continue sustainable agricultural development and allows us to educate the community about food, fibre and farming.

“Post Show there are plenty of learnings and discussions to be had as we recommence our planning of the 2022 Sydney Royal Easter Show, our 200th anniversary which will be held April 8-19, within school holidays.”

Rides and showbags: There were 2.1 million unique ride experiences throughout the Show and 1.8 million showbags distributed.

Crowd capacity was capped at 60,000 ticket holders on site each day, following NSW Health’s approval of the COVIDSafe Plan to allow for 1.5m distancing at all times. (This figure does not include essential workers.)

Attendees had to choose online the day that wanted to attend the Show and then print the ticket at home.

Pre-Show ticket Sales were at an all-time high.

Public Transport wasn’t included in the price of the ticket at the request of NSW Health for tracing purposes.

Netflix to Add 'Big Time Rush' on Friday, March 26, 2021

Netflix are going Big Time!


Netflix will be adding all 4 seasons of Big Time Rush on Friday, March 26, 2021, brining all 74 episodes of Nickelodeon's beloved musical comedy series to the streaming service! It's currently unknown whether it'll also include the TV movie inspired by the series, Big Time Movie.

In Big Time Rush, four best friends from Minnesota trade in their hockey sticks and high-school life for the opportunity of a lifetime: pursue pop music stardom in Los Angeles as a boy band. Discovered as a solo singer, Kendall has no interest in leaving his Midwest life behind, so he agrees to take part in "pop group" training in exchange for the record company allowing his three buddies -- James, Logan and Carlos -- a chance to make it with him as a group. They live in a swanky housing development, but the boys soon find life in Hollywood is not all about the parties and girls, and if they are to make it in the big time, it will only come from hard work, dedication -- and the support of one another.

Big Time Rush stars Kendall Schmidt as Kendall Knight, Carlos PenaVega as Carlos Garcia, James Maslow as James Diamond, Logan Henderson as Logan Mitchell, Ciara Bravo as Katie Knight, Stephen Kramer Glickman as Gustavo Rocque, Tanya Chisholm as Kelly Wainwright, Challen Cates as Jennifer Knight, Erin Sanders as Camille Roberts, Katelyn Tarver as Jo Taylor, and Malese Jow as Lucy Stone.

Over the course of its four-season run, the actors’ lives mimicked that of their onscreen characters. Both on- and off-screen, multiple Big Time Rush albums were released, sold-out tours were embarked on, and millions of fans, also known as Rushers, were made.

The news follows Kendall, James, Logan and Carlos hosting a series of virtual reunions during the COVID-19 pandemic, which included releasing new renditions of two of their hit songs, "Worldwide" and "Beautiful Christmas" - and it's speculated that the boys will be treating fans to new music later this year.

The news also follows Netflix recently adding iCarly and Henry Danger earlier this year, and Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra in 2020. All four series became instant hits on the streamer.

It is thought that, similar to iCarlyHenry DangerAvatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, Big Time Rush will continue to remain available to stream on Paramount+.

Netflix and ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) announce Sharkdog an animated series from Singaporean creator Jacinth Tan.

The 20 x 7 minute episode animated series is produced by ViacomCBS International Studios, in partnership with Singaporean based CGI animation studio One Animation, and will premiere in 2021.

Logline: The series follows 10 year old Max and his best friend Sharkdog - half shark, half dog, all appetite. Blissfully unaware of his own strength, stealth and general sharkiness, Sharkdog often leaves a trail of chaos in his wake. But, like all good half-dogs, he's Max's BFF and Max is his.

Sharkdog is VIS' first internationally originated global animated series for Netflix. It is also the first animated series from Singapore to come out of Nickelodeon's Global Animated Shorts Program, designed to identify and develop long form original comedy-driven content for kids globally.

Update (11/8) - ViacomCBS recently applied to patent Sharkdog with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) under the categories of " Games; toys; sports equipment", "Clothing; footwear; headgear" and "Education; entertainment". All three applications are currently pending. Interestingly, the show is being patented under the title Sharkdog Nickelodeon. It's currently unknown whether this related to the Nickelodeon series, or the upcoming Netflix series.

Netflix has ordered new animated kids show, Sharkdog, from ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS)!

The streamer has ordered 20 episodes of the 7-minute show, created by first-time Singaporean creator Jacinth Tan that will air in 2021. The show is produced by VIS in partnership with Singaporean based CGI animation studio One Animation (Oddbods).

It marks VIS’ first internationally originated global animated series for Netflix.

The show follows 10-year old Max and his best friend Sharkdog – half shark, half dog, all appetite. Blissfully unaware of his own strength, stealth and general sharkiness, Sharkdog often leaves a trail of chaos in his wake. But, like all good half-dogs, he’s Max’s BFF and Max is his.

Sharkdog originally came out of Nickelodeon’s Global Animated Shorts Program, which is designed to identify and develop original comedy-driven content for kids, in 2015. You can see an early vision of the show above and this will be updated for Netflix. Sharkdog is also the first animated series from Singapore to come out of Nickelodeon’s Global Animated Shorts Program.

Nickelodeon International subsequently announced in 2017 that it had greenlit a series of 90-second shorts based on the characters, which debuted as a short-form digital series for the Nickelodeon Play App in Asia.

It is the latest agreement between a ViacomCBS company and Netflix. Last year, Nickelodeon and Netflix struck an output deal that will yield original animated feature films and TV series based on existing Nickelodeon library characters as well as newly created ones. Prior to the agreement, Netflix ordered forthcoming specials based on The Loud House and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The deal builds on a relationship that has brought animated specials Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus and Glitch Techs to Netflix. Netflix is also producing a live-action version of Nickelodeon's beloved animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

It is the latest third-part order for the ViacomCBS division, which has been stepping up its development and production of ideas for non-ViacomCBS networks. Last month, ViacomCBS’ UK production studio scored its first U.S. order – a ten-part music documentary series for Reelz called The Story of the Songs.

Sharkdog was the first Singaporean series to come out of the competition. But it’s in good company, as several animated shorts from Nick’s program have turned into full fledged series recently. This includes Toronto-based prodco Nelvana’s new 26 x 22-minute animated series Ollie’s Pack, which began as an original short dubbed Monster Pack for Nickelodeon’s 2013 Animated Shorts Program. And, in January, Nickelodeon premiered the 2D-animated comedy series It’s Pony (20 x 22 minutes), which was part of Nick’s 2015 Global Animated shorts program.

ViacomCBS Applies to Trademark 'NickWatch by Nickelodeon'

Over the years, Nickelodeon has released many watches, which were either tie-ins to movies (such as The Rugrats Movie) or were given away as prizes in contests. However, it seems Nickelodeon is about to release a brand new branded watch in stores!

According to trademark databases, Maucher Jenkins, a firm of UK and German Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys and IP Litigators, working on behalf of Viacom International Inc. (USA), has applied to trademark "NICKWATCH BY NICKELODEON" trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The trademark application was filed on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 and is currently examination.

According to the application, "NICKWATCH BY NICKELODEON" is being trademarked in the category of Jewelry Products, Computer & Software Products & Electrical & Scientific Products, which suggests that the NickWatch could be a smartwatch specially designed for kids!

ViacomCBS has also applied to trademark "NICKWATCH BY NICKELODEON" under the NICE classes 09 (scientific and electric apparatus and instruments) and 14 (precious metals and their alloys; jewelry; time-keeping instruments).

No other information about the NickWatch is currently available.

To up the competition in the famous Fry Cook Games, SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is also adding a new League Leaderboards feature, which will let you rule the grill and earn new rewards by challenging other players. The higher you place on the leaderboard, the bigger rewards you can unlock.

This update arrives to celebrate the U.S. release of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, the latest film in the iconic SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. The film is available to watch on Paramount+, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, and other digital platforms. Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years, the first spin-off from the beloved series, is also available to stream now on Paramount Plus.

SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is, it’s a business management game for mobile where you run different restaurants all across Bikini Bottom. The game features many characters from the cartoon series, including Mr. Krabs, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy and many other familiar faces. You are able to visit famous landmarks from the show, such as the Krusty Krab, Sandy’s Treedome, and other various places in Bikini Bottom.


You can download SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off and play the new update from the iOS App Store or the Google Play store for Android store, where it is a free to play game containing adverts and in-app purchases.

Official update synopsis: "Get ready to show off your skill behind the grill and prove you are the best Fry Cook under the sea with our New League Leaderboard feature! SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is co-developed by Tilting Point, a free-to-play publisher which is also responsible for other successful mobile titles such as Star Trek Timelines and Warhammer: Chaos & Conquest, and cooking game veterans Nukebox Studios (Food Truck Chef) in partnership with Nickelodeon.

Unfortunately, SpongeBob fans will be saying goodbye to another mobile game inspired by the series. The town-building game SpongeBob Moves In will be closing on Monday, May 31, 2021.
