Nickelodeon Names Adam Conover as Maze Master of 'The Crystal Maze'


Nickelodeon is bringing the legendary UK hit game show The Crystal Maze to the U.S. in an all-new version, co-produced by Bunim/Murray Productions (The Real World, The Challenge, Born This Way) and RDF Television (Secret Life of 4 Year Olds, Wife Swap, Shipwrecked), all under the Banijay Group. A longtime staple of British pop culture and family entertainment, The Crystal Maze--considered the forerunner to the current escape room craze--is a competitive challenge featuring a family team who must utilize physical and mental skills to successfully navigate an elaborate labyrinth of four giant and immersive themed zones. Guiding teams through each challenge and adventure around the Crystal Maze will be Maze Master Adam Conover, a comic famed for his work on College Humour, TV series Adam Ruins Everything, and Netflix's BoJack Horseman.

Production on the new series (10 one-hour episodes) took place on the show's original set located at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, England, earlier this summer. The series premiere will be announced at a later date.

Nickelodeon’s version of The Crystal Maze will feature a team of family members tackling a range of challenges in zones collectively known as The Crystal Maze. Each successful game is rewarded with a ‘time crystal’ that equals five seconds in the centerpiece Crystal Dome. The adventure culminates in a spectacular finale, as the team enters the Dome to grab a cash prize as it flies around them during a dramatic clock countdown.

A current ratings smash in the UK, The Crystal Maze has been a beloved family and cult favorite since the mid ‘90s, with the current global popularity of the escape room phenomena reigniting interest further. The show was recently rebooted to great success with celebrity, charity and family seasons in UK, Australia and beyond.

Devised by Jacques Antoine, the UK version of The Crystal Maze was originally hosted by Richard O'Brien (Rocky Horror), followed by Ed Tudor-Pole. The reboot was originally presented by Stephen Merchant (for Stand Up To Cancer), and currently by Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd, Travel Man) with his "hand." The show's theme song is the legendary "Force Field", below. The show is currently filmed at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol.

Record-breaking $2.2 Million Raised for Kids at 11th Annual Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk

The Event Has Raised More Than $13 Million in Total for Children with Special Needs and Students

Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk Co-Founder Michael Greenberg rallied thousands of walkers at the 11th annual event. The Walk broke donation records, raising over $2.2 million for children with special needs and education.

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.--The Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk continued the Skechers Foundation’s 11-year tradition of record-breaking donations for kids—raising more than $2.2 million for children with special needs and education at Sunday’s event, and more than $13 million in total since its start. Supported by lead presenter Nickelodeon, media sponsor NBC4 Southern California, airline sponsor Turkish Airlines and generous businesses, the event launched its second decade with a special performance by this season’s America’s Got Talent winner, global superstar Kodi Lee; returning sports legends Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Lasorda; and more than 17,000 registered walkers.

“Heck yeah, Skechers Pier to Pier Walk… it feels so awesome to be a superstar… I love it when they chanted Kodi!” exclaimed Kodi Lee at the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk.

Since 2009, the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk has raised more than $13 million for The Friendship Foundation, public schools and scholarship funds for exceptional students. The Friendship Foundation assists children with special needs and their families through one-on-one peer mentoring and social recreational activities such as summer camps, outings to sporting events and classes that include music, yoga, cooking, art and drama. The event also helps education foundations maintain and enhance their schools in areas like technology, music, and science, from reducing class sizes and updating labs, libraries and facilities to protecting teachers’ jobs. The Skechers Foundation’s national scholarship program awards $100,000 annually to students who have financial need and proven excellence in academics, athletics and leadership.

NEW YORK-- CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS.A, CBS) and Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA) have announced that the registration statement on Form S-4 (No. 333‑234238) (the “Registration Statement”) filed by CBS with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”) was declared effective by the SEC on October 25, 2019. The Registration Statement was filed in connection with the proposed combination of CBS and Viacom (the “merger”) and includes a joint consent solicitation statement/prospectus of CBS and Viacom.

The companies also announced that their pending merger and the related proposals have been approved by National Amusements, Inc. and its affiliate, which satisfies the closing conditions to the merger requiring approval of a majority of the CBS Class A shares and a majority of the Viacom Class A shares. The final results of the consent solicitations of CBS and Viacom will be set forth in the companies’ separate Current Reports on Form 8-K that will be filed with the SEC.

The completion of the merger remains subject to other customary closing conditions and is now expected to close by early December. At closing, CBS will be renamed “ViacomCBS Inc.” (“ViacomCBS”). In addition, at closing, CBS will delist its Class A and Class B common stock from NYSE and will list ViacomCBS Class A and Class B common stock, including the outstanding shares of CBS Class A and Class B common stock (which will remain outstanding shares of ViacomCBS), on The NASDAQ Stock Market under the new ticker symbols “VIACA” and “VIAC,” respectively.

CBS-Viacom merger will close in a month, companies say

CBS and Viacom officially announced their remerger plan in August.

The CBS-Viacom merger, which will recombine the companies under the new name ViacomCBS, is on track to close in approximately one month.

CBS announced late Monday that its S-4 registration form had been declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company also announced that the merger plan has been approved by National Amusements, Inc., which holds majority stakes in both CBS and Viacom.

As a result, the companies anticipate the merger will officially close in early December.

CBS and Viacom officially announced their remerger plan in August. Viacom CEO Bob Bakish will become president and CEO of the combined company. Acting CBS CEO Joe Ianniello will become chairman and CEO of CBS.

The combined company’s portfolio of consumer brands includes CBS, Showtime, Nickelodeon, MTV, BET, Comedy Central and Paramount Network, along with a content library comprising more than 140,000 TV episodes and more than 3,600 film titles. The combined company will also have more than 750 series currently ordered to or in production and it will include Hollywood film studio Paramount Pictures.

For Shari Redstone, vice chair of the boards of directors for both CBS and Viacom, the merger is the culmination of years of trying to recombine the companies, which officially split apart in 2006.

“I am really excited to see these two great companies come together so that they can realize the incredible power of their combined assets. My father once said ‘content is king,’ and never has that been more true than today. Nickelodeon Netherlands to Premiere 'Lost in Oz' on Monday 18th November 2019

Nickelodeon Benelux has acquired the rights to Lost in Oz, and will premiere Amazon Studio's popular CG-animated series on Nickelodeon Netherlands (Nederland) on Monday 18th November 2019 at 18:25 uur. Following launch, new episodes will continue to air weekdays at 18:25 uur on Nick Nederland. It's currently unknown whether the series will also air on Nickelodeon Flanders and Nickelodeon Wallonia around the same time.

Lost in Oz — inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the magical world created by author L. Frank Baum, 12-year-old Dorothy E. Gale discovers her mother’s magical travel journal hidden beneath the floorboards of their Kansas home. The book triggers a tornado, which rips her house from its foundation and transports Dorothy and her dog, Toto, to Emerald City, a bustling, modern, metropolis. In order to get home, Dorothy learns she must acquire every element on Oz’s “periodic table of magic” – while the city faces the worst magic drought in eons! Along the way, Dorothy and Toto meet unlikely allies in West, Ojo, Reigh the Lion, Scarecrow, and Glinda the Good, who are each eager to help, but struggling with their own problems. One Piece Gets SpongeBob SquarePants Collectibles

Arguably, two of the biggest "sea faring franchises" in the world are the long-running Nickelodeon animated series SpongeBob SquarePants and the anime pirate franchise of One Piece. While the two series could not be more different, they've finally managed to meet with some official merchandise that unites the two worlds of Bikini Bottom and the Straw Hat Pirates. Though these figurines don't necessarily reflect Luffy and his crew, they still take the characters of SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward and put them at the top of the heap when it comes to One Piece's military.

Twitter User SoulStormOP managed to find the hilarious model figures that see the denizens of Bikini Bottom placed into the universe of the Grand Line, attempting to defeat the pirates of the seas and claim the long lost treasure of Gol D. Roger for the military:

The line reimagines SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward as the Three Marine Admirals, Kizaru, Akainu and Aokiji, respectively. Mr. Krabs as Fleet Admiral Sengoku.

The Resin Statues hail from KMG Studio, and are available to preorder now at Toy Okoku. The figures carry an $150.00 (Australian dollars) price tag each.

So remember that one fan art that had Spongebob, Squidward and Patrick pose as the 3 Admirals in One Piece? Yeah so they decided to make figures of that.

It's currently unknown whether the figures are official SpongeBob SquarePants merchandise.

SpongeBob SquarePants was created around the same time as One Piece, ironically enough, originally debuting on Nickelodeon in 1999, introducing a world wherein the titular SpongeBob works his dream job as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab. Spending his days putting together Krabby Patties, jellyfishing with Patrick Star, and annoying his neighbor Squidward Tentacles on the regular, the franchise has amassed over two hundred and fifty episodes. While that's a good deal of installments for any franchise, it still pales in comparison to the over nine hundred episodes that make up the One Piece franchise.

Currently, One Piece is having one of the best runs in the franchise, with the main storyline following the Straw Hat Pirates as they traverse across the dangerous, isolationist nation of Wano. At the same time, the fourteenth film of the franchise, One Piece: Stampede, has been tearing it up at the box office, pulling in the most profits of the series to date.

Eiichiro Oda's One Piece first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997. It has since been collected into over 80 volumes, and has been a critical and commercial success worldwide with many of the volumes breaking printing records in Japan. The manga has even set a Guinness World Record for the most copies published for the same comic book by a single author, and is the best-selling manga series worldwide with over 430 million copies sold. TV Reboots All the Rage With 90s Hits Returning

LOS ANGELES – Working at Nickelodeon is a pretty exciting job for a 13-year-old.

“We’ve met the people who do voiceovers for SpongeBob,” Reece Caddell said.

Recreating a 90s pop culture phenomenon that aired when you weren’t even born can be a tough job. Caddell is lights-camera-action ready for the challenge.

"To bring it back and bring a whole new culture of kids this comedy. To show kids can be funny too, I think it’s really cool we get to bring it back,” Caddell said.

Caddell is part of the ensemble cast bringing All That back to life. A sign of her generation, she got her start on YouTube, and after an audition in LA , the rest of her Nickelodeon success story is history.

“There’s no show for kids airing right now that’s this type of comedy, it's different,” Caddell said.

The show is a part of a growing TV family where reboots are all the rage. Nowadays it isn’t just bringing the original show back to life. Kids and pop culture in 2019 are a lot different than when the show came out in 1994.

“We have all the influences from the internet and all these inside jokes. Like memes are weird but they’re funny. We have to bring that humor into the show to make it popular,” Caddell said.

While the cast works hard to make the show relevant and relatable today, they also have help from the original cast members to make sure they keep the original magic.

“We need more comedy for younger people. Kids are watching comedy shows made for adults. Younger kids shouldn’t be watching those shows,” Caddell said.

Caddell says she is so excited to be a part of the show getting reimagined for a new generation.

My Dad The Rock Star is about an ordinary boy named Willy Zilla who is trying to live a normal life despite having a popular rock star for a father named Rock Zilla! Created by KISS bassist Gene Simmons, the Canadian/French animated television series ran for 26 episodes over two seasons between September 1, 2003 – July 5, 2004, and aired on Nickelodeon channels internationally, including on Nickelodeon UK and Nicktoons USA, and Teletoon in Canada and M6 in France, who also produced the series.
