Big Time Rush Announces New Tour

Big Time Rush is back! After being on hiatus for seven years, the massively popular boyband from Nickelodeon's hit comedy series of the same name will be going on tour later this year for Big Time Rush Live 2021!

The news follows speculation that the band had something special for fans up their sleeves after their social media accounts changed their avatar to a red dot last week.

There are currently two confirmed dates for Big Time Rush 2021 Live:

Dec. 15, 2021 - Chicago Theater, Chicago, IL
Dec. 18, 2021 - Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom, New York, NY

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Fri, Jul 23 at 11:00 am CDT, with pre-sales - including for Rushers - also in the pipeline. Tickets will be available from the band's official website, https://www.bigtimerushofficial.com.

Update (72/2) - Pre-sale tickets to Big Time Rush's new reunion concerts went on sale on Ticketmaster on July 21, where, unfortunately, they sold out within minutes.

For the Chicago concert on December 15th, 2021 at The Chicago Theatre the ticket prices for one person start at $283.00 and they can end up at $5,010. For the New York concert taking place on December 18th, 2021 at the Manhattan Centre Hammerstein Ballroom, the prices for one ticket start at $200.00 and end up at $439.00, but with most seats being already reserved.

On the official Big Time Rush social media, the band said: "BIG TIME RUSH LIVE! WE ARE BACK! It’s been a minute, but we couldn’t be more excited to see you! Lets make up for lost time," attaching the following video announcing the new tour:

In the video, a dramatic voiceover checks in on each member as it announces that "the people of the world are ready for a comeback of epic proportions."

Stopped in the woods is Schmidt, who talks back to the voiceover, "Whoever you are, that's a character I played on a television show years ago."

Then, the voiceover visits James, who, fittingly, is in an undershirt making fixes to his car's engine. "Man, after all these years, he still looks good," the voiceover says. After that, the voiceover stops at the home of Carlos, "the wild child," as he plays around with his two babies.

"Daddy, is that God?" asks one of his children.

The camera then pans to Logan (the smart one in the sitcom) who is performing surgery... well, actually he's just playing Operation the board game.

"Together, these four men will once again live it big time," the voiceover says. "The show must go on. The world needs Big Time Rush."

The clip ends with the voiceover singing the first few notes to Big Time Rush's theme song.

Fans can follow Big Time Rush on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube.

The Los Angeles–based boy band was formed in 2009 and starred in Big Time Rush, until 2013. The group released three albums and staged their final tour in 2014.

In Big Time Rush, four best friends from Minnesota trade in their hockey sticks and high-school life for the opportunity of a lifetime: pursue pop music stardom in Los Angeles as a boy band. Discovered as a solo singer, Kendall has no interest in leaving his Midwest life behind, so he agrees to take part in "pop group" training in exchange for the record company allowing his three buddies -- James, Logan and Carlos -- a chance to make it with him as a group. They live in Palm Woods, a swanky hotel that is home to other aspiring teen entertainers, but the boys soon find life in Hollywood is not all about the parties and girls, and if they are to make it in the big time, it will only come from hard work, dedication -- and the support of one another. They must undertake the task of becoming the next big hit while also staying true to themselves.

Apart from their chart-topping hit “Boyfriend (feat. Snoop Dog),” Big Time Rush released three albums: debut “BTR” in 2010, sophomore album “Elevate” and “24/Seven.”

Big Time Rush stars Kendall Schmidt as Kendall Knight, Carlos PenaVega as Carlos Garcia, James Maslow as James Diamond, Logan Henderson as Logan Mitchell, Ciara Bravo as Katie Knight, Stephen Kramer Glickman as Gustavo Rocque, Tanya Chisholm as Kelly Wainwright, Challen Cates as Jennifer Knight, Erin Sanders as Camille Roberts, Katelyn Tarver as Jo Taylor, and Malese Jow as Lucy Stone.

The news follows Kendall, James, Logan and Carlos hosting a series of virtual reunions during the COVID-19 pandemic, which included releasing new renditions of two of their hit songs, "Worldwide" and "Beautiful Christmas" - and it's speculated that the boys will be treating fans to new music later this year.

Big Time Rush is available to stream on Paramount+ and Netflix.

'Zoey 101' Reboot Still in the Works Amid Jamie Lynn Spears' Drama with Britney, According to Chris Massey

If case you've missed it, there is currently a lot of drama going on between Jamie Lynn Spears and her older sister, Britney. However, Zoey 101 fans will be relived to hear that the drama is having no impact on the show's reboot moving forward, according star Chris Massey.

Talking to TMZ in L.A. on Tuesday, July 20, Massey revealed that he's heard the exact opposite of what his fellow Zoey alum, Paul Butcher, said online the other day about the #FreeBritney drama potentially derailing the show's revival.

Chris also told TMZ that he's been in touch with Jamie Lynn fairly recently, and that as far as he knows -- the plan is still to bring back the show, even though he admits they have been somewhat delayed.

However, he also acknowledges JLS is going through some family drama -- namely Britney crushing her little sister on social media over the conservatorship and an old award show beef.

Chris says he's not sure why Paul made it seem like the reboot was off, and even has a message for his old pal. He wants to have a little chat to clear the air, and any rumors he might've inadvertently caused with his TikTok post.

Chris also gives gave a bit of insight into what he remembers about Britney and Jamie Lynn's relationship, albeit from many years past. Although Britney's making it seem like it's no love lost between them, he remembers a time it was clearly much different.

As Chris has been told, the show must go on.

A Zoey 101 reboot has been in the works for quite some time now, with the cast reuniting last year for an All That sketch, in which Jamie Lynn reprised her iconic character "Thelma Stump." The following October, Jamie hosted The Follow Me (Zoey 101) Experience - The Legacy Continues, a live stream event which included a new version of the show's iconic theme song, "Follow Me," which also featured social media influencers popular today.

Jamie Lynn has previously said that she wanted her daughter Maddie to star in the Zoey 101 reboot, and she wants Zoey and Chase to have a "happy ending" in the revival.

Dev Patel Reveals He Felt 'Probably Miscast' in 'The Last Airbender' Movie

Dev Patel talks his role in The Last Airbender.

Years before Dev Patel played a Knight of the Round Table, he appeared as Prince Zuko in M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender, a live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon's beloved animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. In an interview included in the latest issue of Total Film, Patel reflects on the movie.

"After Slumdog [Millionaire], I didn't really get anything. When that came around, it was a total no-brainer on the page," he says. "You know, may he rest in peace, Andrew Lesnie, the DoP of Lord Of The Rings. You've got M. Night and Frank Marshall and all these big names. I'm a big martial arts fan, so I was like, 'Oh, wow.' I was probably miscast, and the film didn't hit the mark. It was a really hard process for me because... It was such a bigger machine than what I was used to from Skins, that I felt a bit adrift at sea."

"I could see that the studio was worried that I wasn't really performing well. It was quite a torturous experience in that sense where you know you've maybe possibly been miscast in something, and you're not right for it, and I didn't have any confidence, and I didn't know how to apply what I now know are my good tools as a performer, and the truth I can bring to a part. And it kind of showed."

But Patel adds that he was able to learn from the movie. "It made me realise that I want to be involved in films where you can really feel connected to the material; it's more tangible, and you can sit with the filmmaker and have a conversation," he says. "I need mentorship. I need teaching, and someone that can guide me through the process of a movie. That's what I found later on in my career with other filmmakers, and that's what's made me improve. You learn a lot from it in a way, from films like that. But for me, there was a lot of trauma [surrounding] that whole experience."

Patel recently appeared in Armando Iannucci's The Personal History of David Copperfield, and his next film to be released is David Lowery's The Green Knight, which sees him play King Arthur's nephew Gawain.

"Right now, I feel lucky that I'm at a stage in my career, and that the industry is at a point where the doors are really wide open for actors like myself – you know, actors of colour – to go in and really tell their stories, and also be invited into worlds we never would have dreamed of being a part of," he says. "And that is really exciting. And filmmakers like David Lowery or Armando Iannucci, they just look at you as a person, rather than the colour of your skin. And that's what was amazing. It was just having this conversation... I was almost more hung up on it than David was."

For the rest of our interview with Patel, pick up a copy of the new issue of Total Film magazine when it hits newsstands in stores and on digital retailers from Friday, July 23.

Dee Bradley Baker to Return as the Voice of Olmec for The CW's ‘Legends Of The Hidden Temple’ Reboot

Dee Bradley Baker (Avatar: The Last AirbenderAmerican Dad) will make his return to Legends of The Hidden Temple, more than 20 years since the original series’ first run. Baker is set to reprise his role as the voice of Olmec, the giant talking Mayan head in the upcoming reboot for The CW.

Mega; Nickelodeon

The reimagining of the popular ’90s show hails from Stone & Company, which produced the original series that ran on Nickelodeon for three seasons between 1993-1995. Set to debut October 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, the adult version will preserve many of the original show elements including Moat Crossings, The Steps of Knowledge and the Temple Run as well as the team names such as Purple Parrots, Blue Barracudas, Orange Iguanas, Red Jaguars, Silver Snakes and Green Monkeys.

Every episode is a hero’s journey through a mysterious jungle. Four teams begin the journey, but only one is “strong enough and smart enough” to enter the ominous Olmec’s Temple, avoid the “dreaded” Temple Guards, retrieve a lost treasure, and return it to its rightful owner.

Nickelodeon's live-action Legends of the Hidden Temple movie

Olmec was a giant talking Mayan head that served as the series’ most recognizable symbol. A fan favorite of the series, the integral character was voiced and puppeteered by Baker.

Olmec made announcements, explained various challenges and asked tiebreaker questions in various episodes of the original series. Baker joins Cristela Alonzo, who will host the reboot.

“When we asked Dee Bradley Baker to return as the one and only Olmec – our giant talking stone head, and he said, ‘Let’s Rock,’ that was all I had to hear…Olmec lives,” said executive producer Scott Stone.

The original series ran in Nickelodeon for three seasons and 120 episodes between 1992 and 1995. Baker previously reprised his role as Olmec for Nickelodeon's 2016 Legends of the Hidden Temple movie.

Based on the original game show created by David G. Stanley, Scott A. Stone and Stephen R. Brown, Legends of the Hidden Temple is produced by Stone & Company Entertainment and Nickelodeon. The series is executive produced by Scott A. Stone and Marcus Fox.

Nicktoons Randomly Premieres New 'The Casagrandes' Episode 'Lalo Land'

Nicktoons, Nickelodeon's channel for all things animation, randomly premiered the new The Casagrandes episode segment "Lalo Land" on Tuesday, July 20 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, taking fans by surprise.

At the moment, it seems like the airing of the all new episode was a one-off mistake, as it aired alongside its official partner segment "Maybe-Sitter", which premiered June 25 on Nickelodeon. The episode's production code is #216.

In "Lalo Land," the Casagrandes prepare Lalo for his big audition to be Phoebe Powers' new canine sidekick.

It's currently unknown when the episode segment will air on Nickelodeon.

A spinoff of Nick’s animated hit The Loud House, The Casagrandes tells the story of 11-year-old Ronnie Anne who moves to the city with her mom and older brother to live with their big, loving family, the Casagrandes.

After moving in with their grandparents in Great Lakes City, Ronnie Anne adjusts to her new life living under one roof and over the family-run mercado (local market), which is a gathering place for everyone in the neighborhood. The series showcases the culture, humor, and love that’s part of growing up in a multigenerational Mexican-American family.

The Casagrandes stars Izabella Alvarez (Westworld) as 11-year-old Ronnie Annie, Carlos PenaVega (Big Time Rush) as her brother Bobby and Sumalee Montano (Nashville) as her mom Maria. Alvarez, PenaVega and Montano bring these characters to life, alongside: Carlos Alazraqui (The Fairly OddParents) as Carlos, “Tio;” Roxana Ortega (The League) as Frida, “Tia;” Alexa PenaVega (Spy Kids) as Carlota; Jared Kozak (Born this Way) as CJ; Alex Cazares (The Boss Baby: Back in Business) as Carl; Ruben Garfias (East Los High) as Hector, “Abuelo;” and Sonia Manzano (Sesame Street) as Rosa, “Abuela.” Additionally, Eugenio Derbez (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) gives voice to Dr. Santiago, a physician living and working in Peru, who is Ronnie Anne and Bobby’s father.

Ronnie Anne’s new apartment building holds new friends and neighbors, including: Ken Jeong (Dr. Ken) as Stanley Chang; Melissa Joan Hart (Clarissa Explains It All, Sabrina the Teenage Witch) as Becca Chang; Leah Mei Gold (Legion) as 12-year-old Sid Chang, Ronnie Anne’s new friend; and Lexi Sexton as Adelaide Chang, Sid’s 6-year-old little sister.

In the first episode, “Going Overboard,” Ronnie Anne finds out her Tio Carlos was a famous skateboarder and she begs him to teach her some new moves. Then, in “Walk Don’t Run,” Ronnie Anne and Sid start a dog-walking business to save up for a new skateboard in a plan that quickly gets out of hand.

The Casagrandes theme song is performed by pop star Ally Brooke.

The Casagrande family was first introduced in the The Loud House special, “The Loudest Mission: Relative Chaos,” which premiered in on Nickelodeon USA on May 2017 and ranks as the highest-rated premiere for the series in Live+7 with both K2-11 (6.6/1.8M) and K6-11 (8.1/1.3M).

The Casagrandes made its world premiere on Nickelodeon in the U.S. on Monday, October 14, at 1:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Following its launch, the popular series has spawned a podcast, The Casagrandes Familia Sounds and vlog series. Currently in its second season, a third season is currently in production.

The Casagrandes is produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank, Calif. The series is executive produced by Michael Rubiner (The Loud House), with Karen Malach (The Loud House) serving as producer, Alan Foreman as supervising producer and Miguel Puga as supervising director. Award-winning cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz (Coco) serves as consulting producer and cultural consultant.

Ally Brooke Explains Why She Relates to Her Pop Star Character on Nickelodeon's ‘The Casagrandes’

Former Fifth Harmony singer Ally Brooke returned to Nickelodeon to reprise her role as a pop star, but that’s not the only way she relates to her character.

UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA - DECEMBER 04: Singer Ally Brooke visits Hallmark Channel's "Home & Family" at Universal Studios Hollywood on December 04, 2020 in Universal City, California. (Photo by Paul Archuleta/Getty Images)

In “Operation Popstar,” the latest episode of the second season of Nickelodeon's popular animated series The Casagrandes, Brooke lends her voice to Alisa Barela, a lovable pop singer. She calls on the main character Carlota (Alexa PenaVega) to serve as her makeup artist when she is in town for a concert.

Brooke, who is Mexican-American, played Alisa in an episode during The Casagrandes’ first season. She also recorded the theme song for the series. In the new episode, Alisa is torn between being a celebrity and her freedom as an average person living everyday life. It’s a feeling Brooke herself has experienced before.

“I can totally relate to that,” Brook told Remezcla during a recent interview. “While I was recording this episode, I was really homesick and feeling very similar to Alisa.”

Brooke said the most challenging part of being a famous singer and actor is being away from her family and hometown of San Antonio, Texas, and missing out on particular moments and celebrations.

“When I am able to see my family, the time is that much more precious,” she said. “When I go home, I feel like me. I love being able to be home because that time is so cherished. It’s like two different versions of me, but they’re all the same.”

While she gets homesick, Brooke is happy that she can work on projects like The Casagrandes, where she gets to be a part of an animated series representing a Mexican-American family. It’s not something she saw on TV as a kid, which made her feel like “the odd girl out” when she went on auditions.

“Now, having that representation and being a part of it is something that means so much to me,” she said. “Thinking about my little cousins seeing this and seeing themselves represented is so special.”

The Casagrandes episode "Operation Popstar" premiered Friday, July 16, on Nickelodeon and is currently available to watch on nick.com, the Nick App and Nickelodeon On Demand, where available.
