Nickelodeon has decided to cancel and not renew the network's hit live-action buddy comedy series Side Hustle for a third season.

The news was announced by show stars Mitchell Berg and Isaiah Crews on Instagram.

In his post, Mitchell captioned a behind-the-scenes photo with: "hey everyone, i’m sad to share the unfortunate news that @nicksidehustle will not be continuing. i’m really grateful to all of you fans who supported the show and motivated me to bring my best every day. i’m also thankful to the entire cast and crew, producers, everyone at @bullockandsnowcasting, and @nickelodeon who trusted me with the character fisher. it was an incredible experience, and i can’t wait to cross paths again. thank you all."

“Hey guys, I’m here to break the bad news. Sadly, Side Hustle will not be returning for a season three,” Isaiah shared in a video on Instagram. “I’m just really saddened by this news and I just wanted to tell y’all, ‘Thank you.’ Thank you to those who watched it, thank you to everyone on the crew who worked on it. Script supervisors, the PAs, the light guys, the sound guys, camera guys."

“Working on that show, for me, was a dream come true,” he continued. “I’m always so happy when I look back and think of all the great times I had on that show, with my TV father Tedward, Daryl Brown, Presley’s TV father, Kurt [Ela], Mitchell, Jayden, Jules, Jacques, Leah [Mei Gold]… Yeah, Horrigan, Reyn [Doi], everyone. Just, I love you all and it’s just, thank you guys so much, for making the show a reality in the first place.”

Side Hustle follows best friends, smart and sarcastic Lex (Jules LeBlanc) and confident and tough Presley (Jayden Bartels), after fireworks accidentally destroy a boat belonging to the dad of their quirky friend and neighbor, Munchy (Isaiah Crews). Needing to find a way to pay him back for the boat, they devise a plan to take on local jobs in order to make enough money to cover the costs. Using KidDING!, an app created by Presley’s tech-savvy younger brother Fisher (Mitchell Berg), the friends are able to connect with people looking for help with odd and unusual jobs, while Munchy’s bossy older brother Jaget (Jacques Chevelle) makes sure they keep up with the payments.

Side Hustle premiered on Nickelodeon in November 2020, running for 46 episodes across two seasons, with the series finale, "Yesley Day", airing on Thursday, June 30, 2022. Just a few months ago, took part in a mega Nickelodeon crossover event.

During its run, Side Hustle ranked as the number two live-action program on cable with Kids 6-11, only behind Danger Force.

Side Hustle is created by Dave Malkoff (Henry Danger, Sam & Cat, Victorious), who also serves as executive producer and showrunner alongside John Beck & Ron Hart (Fuller House, Liv and Maddie). Production of Side Hustle for Nickelodeon is overseen by Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan, Co-Heads of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action. Omar Camacho serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series.
