The Annecy International Animation Film Festival, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious events dedicated to the artform, is preparing for its next edition in the French Alps town from Sunday, June 21 - Saturday, June 27. Accompanied by the MIFA market (June Tuesday, June 23 - Friday, June 26), the confab will once again present a packed must-see program of talks, previews, special screenings and film competitions.
The Festival has just posted its TV Film competition selections for 2026, featuring an eclectic mix of genres, techniques and target demographics. Audiences will recognize critically acclaimed series and much-hyped debuts as well as get the chance to experience the latest works from top studios and newly uncovered gems from around the world on the big screen. The competition is separated into five programs for different audiences, from toddlers to adults.
Among this year's entries is the critically-acclaimed SpongeBob SquarePants CG-animated short, "Go Fetch!." Directed by Adam Paloian and produced by Nickelodeon Animation and Pinreel Inc., the short originally premiered on Nickelodeon on October 3, 2025 as part of the network's Halloween line-up. The short has been entered into the contest under the "Preschool/Children/All Ages" category.
In this full 3D episode, SpongeBob and Gary are just playing a friendly game of fetch—until their beloved friendship ball bounces into a deep, dark ravine. What starts as a simple chase turns into a wild adventure filled with eerie creatures and spine-tingling surprises!
