June 12, 2025 – Paramount+ today announced that the fan-favorite original series STAR TREK:
STRANGE NEW WORLDS has been renewed for a fifth and final six-episode season ahead of the third season premiere this summer. Production will begin on the final season later this year.
The third season of STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS is set to premiere with two episodes on Thursday, July 17 on Paramount+ in the U.S. Following the premiere, new episodes will drop weekly on Thursdays, with the season finale on Thursday, September 11. Paramount+ previously announced the series has also been renewed for a fourth season, which is currently in production.
STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS has been lauded by critics and fans alike, with its first two seasons earning a Certified Fresh recognition from Rotten Tomatoes. The series has also been nominated for multiple awards throughout its run, including a Best Drama Series nomination from the Critics Choice Awards in 2023 and a win for Best Science Fiction Television Series from the Saturn Awards in 2022.

The series is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment and the upcoming third season stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun and Martin Quinn, along with guest star Carol Kane and special guest star Paul Wesley.
Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serve as co-showrunners. Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers, Aaron Baiers, Dana Horgan, Alan McElroy, Robbie Thompson, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Chris Fisher, Anson Mount, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers.
STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS is available to stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., the U.K., Latin America, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Japan. Featuring the song "Melodía," this episode of DORA, "Dora’s Song For Papi," follows Dora as she travels across the rainforest, creating a song for her dad so they can celebrate Papi-Dora day.
“Melodía” was a scratch idea that I had in my hard drive for many years. It was maybe just a melody — mel-o-día — that’s all I had. But there were no words. As we started to progress it — and maybe there was a scratch vocal, but it wasn’t that type because it didn’t go anywhere. Once we got the opportunity to be part of Dora, I felt like I wanted to contribute something more than just dialogue, more than just the character. Why don’t I actually create a song that lends itself to an episode?
When I presented it to Richie, Richie was like, ‘Yo, why don’t we take this ‘Melodía’ bop, as you say, and carve out an episode that speaks to the song you wrote, but also speaks to Dora’s love and appreciation for Papi because you’re daughter is also going to be part of this episode and she’s part of the song with you.’ I was like, ‘Perfect.’ It’s a perfect collaboration.
Hats off to Nickelodeon and Paramount for actually giving me the opportunity to present an original. I know, once you’re in the Dora universe, a lot of it is in-house. For me to be outside as a producer, a writer, and a creative contributing a new song that is written by me and produced by me, it was beautiful.
The third season of Dora will begin streaming on Paramount+ on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
