Grammy® Award-winning, multiplatinum global superstar Tyla is set to take the Slime-tastic stage as host of the biggest party this summer – the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2025. Airing on Wednesday 25 June at 17:00 CAT on Nickelodeon Africa (channel 305 on DStv) from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., the KCAs will celebrate fans’ favorites from across the worlds of film, television, music, sports and more.

Today’s news also included this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards nominees, with host Tyla receiving nominations in the Favorite Global Music Star and Favorite Music Collaboration categories.

First-time nominees include Gracie Abrams, Zach Bryan, Jordan Chiles, Frankie Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Doechii, Keith Lee, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, Shohei Ohtani, Florence Pugh, among others. Leading the pack with four nods each are Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar, followed by Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, Selena Gomez and Jelly Roll, with three nominations each. Musical performances will be announced later.

Speaking on Tyla hosting the KCAs, Monde Twala, Senior Vice President & Co-General Manager, Paramount Africa & Lead, BET International, said, “We are incredibly proud to see Tyla make history as the first African to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Her bold creativity, vibrant energy and unapologetic originality embody the spirit of a new generation of African talent breaking boundaries. We are excited to see how this historic moment will inspire countless young dreamers across the continent.


The Kids’ Choice Awards broadcast continues to put kids and families in control at the biggest party of the summer. The year’s show will also feature: exciting star-studded collaborations; legendary skateboarding stunts; the latest in music with high-energy dancing; and Nickelodeon’s signature orange blimp trophy and epic slimings.

Beginning today, fans can cast their votes across 35 categories on the official Kids’ Choice Awards website, KidsChoiceAwards.com.

Nickelodeon to Premiere New 'Sonic Prime' Episodes From May 24

Sonic's back in brand new episodes of Sonic Prime, the hit CG-animated adventure series based on the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, premiering Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. (ET/PT) starting Saturday, May 24, on Nickelodeon!

In Sonic Prime, the action-packed adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog go into overdrive when a run-in with Dr. Eggman results in a literal universe-shattering event. Desperate to piece his prime reality back together and save his old friends, Sonic races through the Shatterverse, discovering strange worlds and enlisting new friends in an epic adventure of a lifetime.

In the first all-new episode of Sonic Prime, "Situation Grim," Sonic learns that Nine is using the New Yoke shard to create his dream world in a barren shatterspace called The Grim. Can Sonic convince Nine to fight with him by the Rebels’ side against the Chaos Council back in New Yoke, before it’s too late? (#106; alt title: "Situation: Grim")

Co-produced by SEGA and WildBrain, Sonic Prime was animated at WildBrain’s Vancouver studio, with SEGA and WildBrain jointly participating across production, distribution and licensing. SEGA represents licensing for Sonic Prime in North America, LatAm and Japan, while WildBrain CPLG represents the brand in the rest of the world.

Sonic Prime comes to Nickelodeon as part of a partnership between Paramount and WildBrain to bring the hit series to the top kids’ entertainment channel. The agreement saw 22 half-hour episodes and one hour-long special of Sonic Prime launch on Nickelodeon in the US and Australia on December 7, followed by Italy (on Super!, Paramount's free-to-air kids channel) on December 23, Nickelodeon UK & Ireland on January 20, and on Nickelodeon Germany on March 1.

When the partnership was first announced, Katie Wilson, VP Global Sales and Acquisitions at WildBrain, said: “SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog is one of today’s most popular entertainment brands. Tim Rex in Space follows a Tyrannosaurus Rex (T-Rex) named Tim, his big brother Tommy, little sister Tia and triceratops bestie Kai as they tackle kid-shaped adventures with dino-sized solutions in space. Tim and his family live in a unique world comprised of a cluster of asteroids that make up the town of Rumbleton. This intergalactic environment is a quintessential 21st century suburban town, with each asteroid hosting family homes, cafĆ©s, shops, parks, and even a beach. All asteroids are connected by a network of slides, ziplines and trampolines, but can also easily be reached on a quick rocket ride. 

The series features: Cassian Swan-Mckee as Tim; Ace Gil as Tommy; Hope Delaney as Tia; and Jamie Smart as Kai. The voice cast also includes Stephen Alan Yorke, Nim Miller, Sophia Nomvete, Jessica Robinson, Alex Carter and Lorraine Bruce.

Created with a global audience in mind, the series blends humor, suspense, and everyday themes that kids can relate to. Landerneau In France Breaks World Record For Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Smurfs

The town of Landerneau in western France on Saturday, May 17 broke the world record for the largest gathering of people in Smurf costumes! Organisers said more than 3,000 people were at the event. Landerneau had made two failed attempts to wrest the record away from Lauchringen, Germany, before finally succeeding this weekend. The Smurfs movie releases in cinemas across France on July 16!

The world premiere of PADDINGTON The Musical arrives in London’s West End this autumn.

Bringing one of Britain’s best-loved characters to life on stage, this unmissable major new production at the Savoy Theatre is jam-packed with irresistible songs, dazzling choreography – and of course, marmalade sandwiches.

When a small, lost bear from Peru arrives in London in search of a new home, a chance encounter with the Brown family leads him to the wonderful world of Windsor Gardens.

But London isn’t all cream teas and friendly faces – and even the happiest families have their cracks beneath the surface. So when Paddington’s life is suddenly in peril, the Browns must decide just how far they’re willing to go — and what they’re willing to risk — for this special bear.

Based on the iconic characters from Michael Bond’s books and the award-winning films, PADDINGTON The Musical is directed by Luke Sheppard, with original music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher and book by Olivier Award-winner Jessica Swale.
