The series is produced by David Michel, President, Cottonwood Media and Co-Founder of Federation Entertainment, Zoé Carrera, and Cécile Lauritano of Cottonwood Media, a division of Federation, and is co-produced by ZDF, ZDF Enterprises, B-FILMS, and the Opera National de Paris, with the support of the European Union Media program. Federation Kids & Family and ZDF Entertainment hold worldwide rights to the series.

Written and co-executive produced by Jill Girling and Lori Mather-Welch (creators of Nickelodeon’s hit series Ride), Find Me in Paris stars Jessica Lord (The Next Step, Descendants) as Lena Grisky, Eubha Akilade (Clique, Eve) as Ines Lebreton, Rory J. Saper (The Legend of Tarzan) as Max Alvarez, Hannah Dodd (face of Burberry with Romeo Beckham in 2014) as Thea Raphael, Castle Rock Peters (Make It Pop) as Jeff Chase, Hiran Abeysekera (star of Royal Shakespeare Company productions) as Dash Khan, and Christy O’Donnell (Moon Dogs) as Henri Duquet.

Actors were selected as much for their acting experience as dancing abilities. They will be doubled in some dance performances by members of the Opera Ballet School, where Find Me in Paris is shot, the first time a youth series has done that in decades.

“We wanted people who could act very well and had enough experience in dance so that we could train or double them with some of the best dancers in the world,” said Michel, adding: “Most of the cast have one or two significant acting experiences for a very good reason that they’re young. Some of them have huge star potential, however, and we look forward to shooting with them.”

The series has been widely sold to top broadcasters including NBC Universal Kids (USA), US streaming platform HULU, France Télévisions (France), Disney Channel (France and Italy), ABC (Australia), and VRT (Belgium). ZDF will air the show in Germany. FranceTV Distribution was tapped late last year as the French licensing agent for the half-hour show. Season one reportedly had a US$11.7-million production budget. The series is distributed by Federation Kids & Family around the globe, excluding Germany, GST and Scandinavia, where sales are handled by ZDFE.

Find Me in Paris recently had the honour of being selected as the first-ever Kids’ World Premiere Screening at MIPTV 2018 in April 2018.

“It is a tremendous honour for Find Me in Paris to be selected by Reed MIDEM for its first ever Kids’ World Premiere Screening. This high-profile screening further confirms the status of the series as a genuinely unique show in the tween drama genre,” said Michel.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Federation Kids & Family for this first Kids’ World Premiere Screening, which will showcase one of the most hotly-anticipated series in the children’s industry. This inaugural Kids’ WPS will be one of the highlights of the Junior@MIPTV programme, focussing particularly this year on live-action series. At a time when series are at centre stage, it is fitting to spotlight series for the younger generation,” said Laurine Garaude, Director of Television at Reed MIDEM, which organises MIPTV.

Following the success of it's first season, Find Me in Paris was recently renewed for season two. The sophomore season of Find Me in Paris sees Ronan and Robert Burke joining Matt Bloom on the directorial team. The 26×30-minute new installment will be in production for 20 weeks.

France Télévisions and Disney in France and Italy have signed up for season two, which is being penned and co-executive produced by Jill Girling and Lori Mather-Welch, with Leila Smith serving as executive producer.

“We are very excited to start shooting 26 new episodes, allowing us to offer an impressive 52 episodes of this critically acclaimed series to our clients,” noted David Michel, the managing director of Federation Kids & Family and president of Cottonwood Media. “We welcome the new super-talented British directors and cast who have helped make Find Me in Paris an international star.”

It's tough... but you'll Find Me In Paris for six months

Eubha Akilade landed the part of Ines in the multi-million pound production of Find Me In Paris (Image: TWITTER)

THE Scots star of a hit teen drama to be screened in the UK from later this month said filming the first season was tough because she’d never spent such a long time away from home. Eubha Akilade landed the part of Ines in the multi-million pound production of Find Me In Paris last year and was given just a fortnight’s notice to pack her bags for six months of filming in the French capital.

The 20-year-old, who hails from Glasgow, insisted she wasn’t even nervous about the move because she’d no experience of staying away from her mum and siblings for longer than seven days.

With filming for the second season about to start, Ms Akilade, who won a role alongside Jane Asher in the CBBC series Eve in her first ever audition, credited her previous experience for bagging the role in the ballet-dancing time-travel drama.

But she admitted the job came with its challenges and said: “Eve was only for three months each year and I did three seasons of it. So doing something for six months is challenging, but I’m so glad, so honoured to have that work because the career path is so unpredictable.

“The pressure that comes with it can be quite difficult. It’s a programme with a lot of money invested in it so you want to do the very best you can and that can put you under a bit of a strain. But you’ve also the best people around you, trying to make things easier.”

Miss Akilade, who has also featured in a BBC3 drama called Clique, had started studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland when the call for Find Me In Paris came.

She said she is incredibly close to her mother, Christine, a Macmillan cancer nurse and her brother and sister so leaving them behind was always going to be tough.

However, she added: “Quite often when you are about to get a role the build up is quite long. It can be up to six months going back to auditions with tapes being sent to different people in the production company.

“But this was very quick. We did not expect it at all.

“Within two weeks of the audition I found out that I’d got the part and that I was flying to Paris for the next six months two weeks later.

“My mum was so overwhelmed she went to George Square and had a croissant because she was like, ‘Oh my goodness, she’s going to Paris, what am I going to do?’. The longest I’d been away from home at that point was a week all at once.

“It was very hectic but the best thing that could have happened.”

The series, which has already screened in the USA, Australia, Belgium and France, will hit British screens on Nickelodeon UK from September 17.

It centres on Lena Grisky, played by Jessica Lord, a time-traveller accidentally propelled from 1905 to 2018 and the prestigious Paris Opera Ballet School, where she meets Ms Akilade's character, Ines Lebreton.

Among the cast is another Glaswegian, Christy O’Donnell, who was down to his last 20p and about to swap show business for the Army when he secured the role of Henri Duquet - Lena’s boyfriend.

The young, talented cast, has been through hours of dance training under the likes of Zack Reece, who has worked with stars such as Janet Jackson and Kelly Rowland.

Ms Akilade said: “So far it has showed in France, Portugal, America… but there’s lot more. I think most places are airing it from September and in Germany at around Christmas time. It’s really strange because my voice has been dubbed in all these different languages. My mum finds it hilarious.

“It is a bit strange because when we were in Paris rehearsing for season two and it had just screened there, we were recognised whenever we went out. It’s actually really lovely.”

*Find Me In Paris starts on Nickelodeon UK on September 17 at 6.30pm

BIG DREAMS Scots rising star Eubha Akilade hopes to follow in Ariana Grande’s footsteps after landing hit Nickelodeon show role

The 20-year-old actress from Glasgow will play a ballet dancer in Find Me In Paris

RISING star Eubha Akilade hopes to hit the high notes like Ariana Grande after starting out on the same TV channel as the US superstar.

The 20-year-old actress is following in the footsteps of her idol after landing a hit Nickelodeon show.

The 20-year-old has big plans for the future

Eubha — pronounced Ava — will be beamed across the globe on her programme Find Me In Paris where she plays a ballet dancer.

This is only her third acting job after she got her big break on CBBC show Eve three years ago.

It’s been a meteoric rise and she’s still in disbelief that she’s starring on the same channel she watched as a kid at home in Cathcart, Glasgow.

Eubha says: “I can’t believe it’s Nickelodeon — I grew up watching these shows. Drake And Josh was my favourite and it’s insane to think I’m on the same channel now.

“It’s bizarre and if I could go back and speak to my younger self I’d never believe this would happen.

“I want to play young characters for as long as I can then move into a slightly older market.

“It’s really motivating to see people that have also come through Nickelodeon like Ariana.

“You watch them and never realise what goes on behind the scenes and all the effort that goes into it. I have a new appreciation for actors and what it takes mentally and physically.”

The show sees Eubha’s character Ines help out pal Lena, played by Jessica Lord, who is a ballet dancer from 1905 who has been transported into the 21st Century through the power of a magical necklace.

She teaches Lena how to adjust to the modern world while also trying to master the art of time travel to get her back to where she belongs.

The show has already been released in most parts of the world and earned rave reviews with industry bible IMDb rating it 8.5 out of ten.

Eubha admits she’s been blown away by her sudden fame.

She says: “It’s gone global. It has aired in America, France and Portugal so far with Italy, Australia, the UK and Germany still to come. I’m excited for it to air in the UK. America was a big one for me and now it’s out that stress is gone. In Paris I got recognised a lot because it had aired there a few months ago so it’s really bizarre.

“I was out having dinner and left the restaurant and had private messages from this girl who had been taking photos of us the whole time but hadn’t come up to say hello.”

The main location for dance scenes is the iconic Parisian Garnier Opera House, the most famous ballet school in the world.

And the actress will only see more of it as the show has been given the green light for a second season.

Eubha says: “The Opera House is the most beautiful building I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s so grand and we got to film on the roof where you can see everything.

“When I first stepped on it I burst into tears because filming there was so special and my eyes were so blessed. It’s such an inspiring city to be in, it gives you energy to keep going every day.” Despite only acting for three years, Eubha already has her eyes on a huge showbiz future.

When she joined the cast of Eve at the age of 15, she had never had any training so learned on the job for three seasons.

She had attended the Dance School of Scotland in Knightswood but left to join the CBBC hit.

With so little experience Eubha admits she and mum Christine were gobsmacked when she landed the Find Me In Paris job only two weeks after her first audition.

Now that she’s managed eight hours of dance training every day and coped with a relentless filming schedule, she’s ready to go the next level.

She says: “I would like to try branching into the American network. And I’ve never done a film before so would love that.

“This career can be so unpredictable but there are so many things within this industry and it’s not only acting.

“It’s a great job to have and I’m so happy growing and have taken every opportunity given to me. You never know where you’re going to go next.”

Find Me In Paris airs on Nickelodeon from September 17 at 6.30pm.
