This year marks the 30th anniversary of Nickelodeon's '90s animated Nicktoons series Rocko’s Modern Life, and to celebrate, Nickelodeon today (April 7) released Rocko’s Modern Life (Original Music from the Series), a brand new album featuring 11 tracks from the soundtrack of the beloved series! The news was announced by composer Pat Irwin (The B-52s), who composed the score for the series.
On his official Facebook page, Irwin said:
Big news from here: Rocko’s Modern Life is getting a soundtrack release! Surprise, surprise, it drops today. Some of my favorite pieces of music from the first two seasons is being digitally released today and is available wherever you stream your music. I’ve been waiting thirty years for this to happen. I can’t wait to tell you more- but for now I want to tell you about the band.Kevin Norton (Anthony Braxton) on drums and percussion.David Hofstra (Raybeats, John Zorn, Microscopic Septet, Smokey’s Roundup) on bass and tubaArt Baron (Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder) tromboneRob DeBellis (Muhal Richard Abrams, Don Byron) woodwindsGuests include Steve Swell, Dave Douglas, Tony Trischka, Laura Seaton, Rochelle Garniez, Curtis Sonny Fowlkes, Jim Leff, and more!I play guitar, keyboards and clarinet until I had to fire myself.The music was recorded and mixed by Patrick Derivaz at Sorcerer Studios and Bob FitzSimons at Globe Studios.
Irwin added that, although the initial album is only being released digitally for now, he has his "fingers crossed that there will more tracks released in the fall along with a vinyl release."
