Nickelodeon, 'SpongeBob SquarePants' and Tom Kenny Win Big at the 2018 Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has announced the fantastic news that Nickelodeon, one of the world's leading recognized entertainment brands for kids and families, won three awards in the 2018 Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards!

Nickelodeon's hit animated series SpongeBob SquarePants was named "Outstanding Children’s Animated Series" at the 2018 Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which honors the best daytime television programming crafts of the past year.

Tom Kenny picked up his first Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for his voice acting work bringing SpongeBob SquarePants to life on Nickelodeon's hit animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants!

And Nickelodeon's "Nick Jr: Girls in Charge: Girl Power Campaign" picked up the award for "Outstanding Daytime Promotional Announcement
Brand Image Campaign – Network or Program"!

Update (4/30): This year, the Emmy organizers presented an honor to SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg “for his contribution and impact made in the animation field and within the broadcast industry.” Hillenburg, 56, who was diagnosed last year with the neurodegenerative disease ALS, said that, despite his diagnosis, he will continue to work on SpongeBob SquarePants “for as long as I am able.” Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob, presented the award to Hillenburg, who later came on stage to accept it.

Additionally, legendary children's television creators Sid and Marty Kroftt, who created Nickelodeon's hit preschool series Mutt & Stuff along with cult classics such as H.R. Pufnstuf, Land Of The Lost and The Bugaloos - the latter of which Nickelodeon recently ordered a reboot pilot for - were recipients of a Daytime Emmy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award!

The winners of the coveted 2018 Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards were announced at a prestigious ceremony at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Friday 27th April 2018, ahead of the 45th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which will be held on Sunday 29th April 2018 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Mario Lopez (Saved by the Bell) and Sheryl Underwood will be hosts of the awards' digital telecast.

Congratulations to Tom Kenny, Nickelodeon, everyone who works on SpongeBob SquarePants and Sid and Marty Kroftt!
