‘Landman’ Sets Emmys Categories: Billy Bob Thornton Goes Lead, All Others Supporting

For season two of Taylor Sheridan's hit Paramount+ drama series, Ali Larter jumps from lead to supporting and Andy Garcia from guest to supporting, while Sam Elliott joins the fray.

(L-R) Jacob Lofland, Ali Larter, Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez and Sam Elliott attends the Los Angeles Official FYC Screening Of Paramount+ Series Landman at Saban Media Center on April 16, 2026 in North Hollywood, California.

Landman, Taylor Sheridan’s hit Paramount+ drama series about people in and around the West Texas oil business, has locked its season two Emmys submissions, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

The show’s first season was egregiously snubbed by the TV Academy, but its second has caught on with other major awards groups — it received Actor Award nominations for best drama series cast and stunt ensemble, as well as a best drama actor Critics Choice Award nom for series star Billy Bob Thornton — and its cast has been hitting the campaign trail hard in recent weeks, suggesting its category submissions could have major Emmys implications.

Thornton, who plays the show’s hard-bitten main character Tommy Norris, will, of course, be pushed for best actor in a drama series. But unlike last year, when Ali Larter, who plays Norris’ irrepressible wife Angela, also campaigned as a lead, this year Larter — and everyone else in the cast — will go supporting.

That includes veterans Demi Moore, for her portrayal of the widow of Norris’ best friend-turned-Norris’ boss, Cami; Sam Elliott, who was not a part of season one but came on to play Norris’ father, T.L.; and Andy Garcia, who was only eligible as a guest actor last season, for playing Norris’ shady business partner, Gallino.

The supporting contenders also include a host of breakouts from the show, including Michelle Randolph and Jacob Lofland, who play Norris’ bickering children, Ainsley and Cooper; Paulina Chávez, who does standout work as the love interest of Lofland’s character, Ariana; and Kayla Wallace, who is memorable as Norris’ icy attorney, Rebecca.

Longer shots from the cast include Colm Feore and James Jordan as Norris’ colleagues and housemates, Nathan and Dale; and Mark Collie as the local sheriff, Walt.

On Thursday, April 16, the TV Academy in North Hollywood was packed to the gills for a screening of the season two finale — which looked particularly stunning on a big screen — followed by an impressive Q&A and reception with Thornton, Larter, Elliott, Moore, Randolph, Lofland and Chávez. Then, on April 22, Paramount+ hosted a hot-ticket New York event called “The Icons of Taylor Sheridan’s Universe,” which featured Larter and Randolph alongside actresses from two other Sheridan hits, Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña of Lioness and Beau Garrett of The Madison — not bad company.

Landman seasons one and two are currently streaming on Paramount+, with a third season currently in development.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) has announced the fantastic news that Nickelodeon has received a raft of nominations in the 2026 Children’s and Family Emmy Awards!

Tiny Chef’s Spooky Stump Spectacular

Update (3/4): The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) has announced the winners of 2026 Children’s and Family Emmy Awards! Among this year's winners are The Tiny Chef Show and Wonder Pets: In the City!

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which presents the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, also revealed that the fourth annual ceremony, taking place on Monday, March 1 and Tuesday, 2, 2026, will take place in New York at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall.

This year, the Children’s and Family Emmys also adjusted a number of categories. Best single role voice performance and multiple role voice performance in preschool programs were merged into one category of outstanding voice performer in a preschool program. Best directing for single- and multiple-camera live-action programs were merged into one best directing for a live-action series category. The best editing categories were previously split by single-camera and multi-camera program but are now split by age into best editing for a preschool or children’s live-action program and best editing for a young teen live-action program. And the outstanding lighting, camera and technical arts categories and outstanding cinematography categories were merged into one category each for live-action and multiple-camera shows.

“We’re excited to honor the extraordinary individuals and teams who bring children’s and family television to life every day,” said Rachel Schwartz, head of the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards. “As the landscape continues to grow — and as studies highlight the positive impact educational programming has on young children — we look forward to coming together to celebrate this meaningful and inspiring work.”

SEASON TWO OF PARAMOUNT+’S FRASIER TO PREMIERE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

The New Season Will Feature a Seattle-Themed Episode

Season One Received Three Primetime Emmy Nominations And
Is Currently Available to Stream on Paramount+ Globally

Starring Kelsey Grammer, FRASIER is Produced by CBS Studios

'Frasier' Season Two and Emmy Nominations

July 17, 2024 – Paramount+ today announced that season two of its Emmy-nominated new original comedy series FRASIER, starring Kelsey Grammer, will premiere on Thursday, September 19 with two episodes. New episodes will then drop weekly on Thursdays, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada. The series will premiere in the U.K. and Australia on September 20, and its availability in additional international Paramount+ markets will be announced at a later date.

Also announced today, FRASIER’s sophomore season will see Dr. Frasier Crane return to his radio roots at KACL in Seattle for an episode. The episode will feature previously announced guest stars stepping back into their roles from the original Frasier including Dan Butler as Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe, Edward Hibbert as Gil Chesterton and Harriet Sansom Harris as Frasier’s delightfully devilish agent, Bebe Glazer.

Earlier this morning season one of FRASIER received three primetime Emmy nominations:

  • Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Program (Half-Hour)
  • Outstanding Cinematography For A Multi-Camera Series (Half-Hour)
  • Outstanding Picture Editing For A Multi-Camera Comedy Series

Produced by CBS Studios, FRASIER films in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. The series follows Frasier Crane (Grammer) in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships and – with hope – finally fulfill an old dream or two.

'Frasier' Cast
Jack Cutmore-Scott, Kelsey Grammer, Anders Keith, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro, and Nicholas Lyndhurst

In addition to Grammer, the series stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son, Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan, Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor; Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university’s psychology department; Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Frasier and Freddy’s neighbor; and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew, David.

Peri Gilpin will return for season two as a recurring guest star to once again reprise the beloved role of Roz Doyle. Other previously announced guest stars include Rachel Bloom, Yvette Nicole Brown, Greer Grammer, Patricia Heaton and Amy Sedaris. Legendary director James Burrows also returns to direct two episodes.

About Fellow Travelers:
Created by Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia, Homeland), based on the novel by Thomas Mallon, FELLOW TRAVELERS is an epic love story and political thriller, chronicling the volatile romance of two very different men who meet in McCarthy-era Washington. Matt Bomer plays handsome, charismatic Hawkins Fuller, who maintains a financially rewarding, behind-the-scenes career in politics. Hawkins avoids emotional entanglements – until he meets Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey), a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith. They begin a romance just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on “subversives and sexual deviants,” initiating one of the darkest periods in 20th-century American history.

Over the course of four decades, we follow our five main characters -- Hawk, Tim, Marcus (Jelani Alladin), Lucy (Allison Williams), and Frankie (Noah J. Ricketts) – as they cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s, and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves.

Nyswaner and Bomer executive produce with Robbie Rogers (All American, My Policeman). Daniel Minahan (Halston, American Crime Story: Versace) executive produces and directs the first two episodes. Co-produced by Fremantle with SHOWTIME, FELLOW TRAVELERS was produced in Toronto.

Spared immediate execution, he is banished by a Soviet tribunal to an attic room in a grand Moscow hotel and threatened with death if he ever sets foot outside again. As the years pass and some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history unfold outside the hotel’s doors, Rostov’s reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery. Hilarious and Brilliant. 'Young Sheldon' For Your Consideration for Outstanding Comedy Series | #FYC | Warner Bros. TV

Hilarious and brilliant. Young Sheldon for your consideration for Outstanding Comedy Series. #FYC | Warner Bros. TV

Watch Young Sheldon on CBS and Nick@Nite, and stream the show on Paramount+! Try Paramount+ for FREE at ParamountPlus.com.

ABOUT YOUNG SHELDON: For young Sheldon Cooper, it isn't easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. His father, George, is struggling to find his way as a high school football coach and as father to a boy he doesn't understand. Sheldon's mother, Mary, fiercely protects and nurtures her son in a town where he just doesn't fit in. Sheldon's older brother, Georgie, does the best he can in high school, but it's tough to be cool when you're in the same classes with your odd younger brother. Sheldon's twin sister, Missy, sometimes resents all the attention Sheldon gets, but also remains the one person who can reliably tell Sheldon the truth. Finally, there’s Sheldon's beloved Meemaw, his foul-mouthed, hard-drinking Texas grandmother who is very supportive of her grandson and his unique gifts. For 12 years on The Big Bang Theory, audiences have come to know the iconic, eccentric, and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. This single-camera, half-hour comedy allows us the chance to meet him in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward, and hopeful journey toward the man he will become.

CAST: Annie Potts as Meemaw, Iain Armitage as Sheldon, Jim Parsons as Adult Sheldon (Voice), Lance Barber as George Sr., Matt Hobby as Pastor Jeff, Montana Jordan as Georgie, Raegan Revord as Missy, Zoe Perry as Mary, Emily Osment as Mandy.

Now in its second year, the standalone competition remains the biggest Emmy competition NATAS oversees.

“We are very proud of the growth experienced in year two of the Children’s and Family Emmys, especially in the development and cultivation of the new categories dedicated to puppetry,” said Rachel Schwartz, Director of Daytime and Children’s & Family Emmy Awards.

“Programming created for children’s and family viewing has a long history of leading the way in innovation and storytelling,” according to Brent Stanton, Head of Daytime and Children’s & Family Emmy Awards. “In this year specifically, a year so impacted by artists fighting for fair recognition of their true value, it is more important than ever to honor the excellence of their talents and achievements,” he said.

Nominees in one category judged in person — Interactive Media — will be announced later this month, as will honorees in two Juried categories: Individual Achievement in Animation and the newly-created Public Service Initiative.

Details and information about events for the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards ceremonies will be released next week. All information can be found at https://theemmys.tv/cafe/2nd-info/

The complete list of nominees is also available on the National Television Academy’s website: theemmys.tv

All voting was tabulated by the accounting firm of Lutz & Carr, LLP.
