Details for a raft of upcoming brand new episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants episodes have emerged!
Fresh from celebrating its landmark 25th anniversary, details about the upcoming 16th season of SpongeBob SquarePants have been revealed!
Season 16 of Nickelodeon's beloved animated series will bring fans much more of the zany humor the long-running series has become renowned for, as well as callbacks to earlier SpongeBob episodes.
Interestingly, Nickelodeon is currently set to premiere the first episode from SpongeBob season 16 on Nicktoons on Wednesday, June 11, however, this is most likely a scheduling error that will be rectified closer to the broadcast date. If not, this would make season 16 the first new season of SpongeBob to premiere on Nicktoons in the U.S.
The new episode currently scheduled for June 11 is "Bizarro Bottom/Squidward's Tough Break". In "Bizarro Bottom", SpongeBob falls asleep on the bus and ends up in a strange town full of Bikini Bottom doppelgangers. Then in "Squidward's Tough Break", after Squidward loses his memory, he adopts a new tough guy persona. (#320)
Season 16 of SpongeBob will make its Nickelodeon debut on Friday, June 27. 2025 at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT) with the special "SpongeBob and Patrick's Timeline Twist-Up," where, when Patrick's time closet goes on the fritz, SpongeBob's history is re-written by time traveling interlopers. (#323-#324)
This season contains episodes from the first half of the show's fifteenth production season, however, Nickelodeon and Paramount have since started to cut new seasons into halves. This is to keep their sizes more consistent with the season lengths currently consumed on streaming services, such as Paramount+, where all shows ultimately end up.

The journey to the Earth Kingdom is going to be a little shorter than first expected—at least on paper, our friends over at WoNetflix are reporting.
Earlier this month, Knight Edge Media recently pulled back the curtain on the highly anticipated second season of Netflix's hit live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation, revealing the episode count and titles. Much like other returning Netflix heavyweights, we’re seeing a slight reduction in the number of chapters, but there is a major silver lining for those worried about the story being rushed.
According to a new report from Caleb Williams—a consistently reliable source for Avatarverse news across both live-action and animation—Season 2 will consist of only 7 episodes, down from the 8-episode order of the first season. This “slimmer” season trend has become fairly common recently, with other Netflix hits like Ransom Canyon and 3 Body Problem also pivoting toward more condensed storytelling.
But before you grab your pitchforks, there is some good news: while the episode count is down, the report states the total runtime is actually expected to be longer than Season 1, which clocked in at 430 minutes (7 hours and 10 minutes).
Alongside the count, we now have the official titles for the upcoming season, which provide our first look at the writers’ room for "Book 2: Earth":
Update (5/6) - The episode titles for the third and final season of Avatar: The Last Airbenderhave been revealed! As with season 2 of the live-action series, season 3 will also consist of 7 episodes. Be warned: spoilers ahead.
Episode 3: Spirit of All Nations (Written by: Emily Kim)
Episode 4: Ghosts of the Old World (Written by: Keely MacDonald)
Episode 5: Fire Remakes the World (Written by: Christine Boylan)
Episode 6: Two Islands (Written by: Phinneas Kiyomura)
Episode 7: All Who Stand Against the Flame (Written by: Gabriel Llanas) - series finale
If those titles look a little “out of order” to you, you aren’t alone. The live-action adaptation is significantly reshaping the original animated timeline. As a reminder, the official synopsis for Season 2 sees Aang, Katara, and Sokka regrouping after the North Pole to convince the elusive Earth King to join the fight against Fire Lord Ozai.
The most shocking revelation here is that the gang arrives in Ba Sing Se as early as Episode 3 ("City of Walls and Secrets"). In the original series, they didn’t reach the capital until the final third of the season. Knight Edge Media speculates this shift is primarily financial: Ba Sing Se was constructed as a massive, expensive real-life set, and production needed to maximize its use across the season to justify the cost.
The titles also hint at when we will meet key characters. Episode 2 ("A Fight, Once Begun") is a direct nod to a quote from the Earthbending academy in the original series, suggesting that Miya Cech’s Toph Beifong will join the team much earlier than in the animation. Episode 5 ("Ten Thousand Things") refers to the spirit owl Wan Shi Tong (whose name means “He who knows ten thousand things”), confirming that the Library arc happens after the heroes have already visited the city.
This raises a massive question regarding "Appa’s Lost Days". In the original Nickelodeon series, the loss of Appa at the Library was the catalyst that drove the search in Ba Sing Se. With the Library now following the city arrival, the narrative sequence of Aang finding the “Day of Black Sun” intel—and losing his flying bison—is being completely reimagined. Finally, the finale title "Something Broken" points toward a dark conclusion, likely mirroring the fall of Ba Sing Se and the literal breaking of the Avatar Cycle seen in the original "Crossroads of Destiny".
Another intriguing episode title of all is that of the penultimate episode, "The Parable of the Two Dragons." The cartoon featured a few pairs of dragons to whom this title could possibly refer, such as those who appeared in Zuko's fever dream from "The Earth King" or the ones from "The Avatar and the Fire Lord." But the most intriguing possibility is that "The Parable of the Two Dragons" will revolve around a major event in Uncle Iroh's life that the cartoon mentioned but never portrayed.
The Season 3 episode "The Firebending Masters" saw Zuko and Aang seek out the ancient Sun Warrior civilization to learn the true nature of firebending, which had been corrupted by the Fire Nation over the years. This culminated in a trial overseen by the ancient dragons Ran and Shaw. Dragons were previously thought to be extinct, with Zuko claiming that Iroh had killed the last dragon, but the Sun Warrior chieftain revealed that Iroh had once passed the same trial and lied to prevent dragon slayers from hunting down Ran and Shaw.
Seeing Iroh's interactions with the Sun Warriors and the dragons would be truly fascinating, especially for long-time fans of the franchise. More so than most other characters in The Last Airbender, Iroh underwent a major character shift. He was once the Crown Prince of the Fire Nation and a ruthless general in the Hundred Year War, but after the death of his son Lu Ten, he became a wise and peaceful mentor for Zuko.
The audience was not privy to most of this transformation, so the live-action series has a chance to reveal more details about Iroh's evolution into the character fans know and love. The dragons' trial would surely be a key factor in his shifting worldview.
The people of the Fire Nation saw their element as a destructive force, so they valued strength and aggression. But the Sun Warriors realized that fire also represented life. Iroh must have taken this lesson to heart, or else he never could have passed Ran and Shaw's evaluation.
No official release date has been set beyond a 2026 window. It is also worth noting that Season 3 was filmed near enough back-to-back with Season 2 to maintain the cast’s ages, though an episode count for that final chapter remains under wraps.
More on ATLA season three:
As you might have noticed, most of the first half of season 3 of the original series will be either cut out entirely or reshuffled for the live-action adaptation. Given that the story will jump right into “The Day of Black Sun” during episode 2. The writing team already did this in season 2, when the team arrived at Ba Sing Se by episode 3 rather than at the end of the season. It should be expected that episodes like “The Painted Lady”, “The Runaway” or “Nightmares & Daydreams” might be omitted completely due to time constraints, though that is pure speculation.
The adventure continues when Nickelodeon’s hit CG-animated series Max & the Midknights returns for season three, premiering weekdays at 7:00am and 3:30pm starting Monday 20th April 2026 on Nickelodeon UK & Ireland, and also streaming on Paramount+! The show follows Max, a determined 10-year-old girl with big dreams of becoming a knight, as she leads her friends on epic adventures filled with excitement, bravery, and lots of fun.
Based on the best-selling children's books by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate), the medieval action-adventure comedy series follows Max, a determined 10-year-old girl with big dreams of becoming a knight, as she leads her friends on epic adventures filled with excitement, bravery, and lots of fun.
The Adventure So Far
Throughout the show's freshman series, Max leads the rest of the Midknights on challenging quests filled with all-new original songs. After King Gastley steals the throne and forces an unjust rule on the Kingdom of Byjovia, Max must come to the rescue to overthrow the power-hungry foe. With her friends and Uncle Budrick by her side, Max’s courageous spirit won’t back down no matter how difficult the quest gets.
Then, in season two, after defeating Fendra and Gastley, Max & The Midknights are living their best lives in Byjovia. Max is in training in knight school, Kevyn runs the royal library, Simon helps animals in need, Millie is in training with Mumblin, and Uncle Budrick is the royal troubadour. Although things seem perfect, Max is itching to go on another quest. When a wild beast known as a Clatterback shows up in Byjovia and threatens to do major damage, Max saves the day, making it even more apparent that she really wants to be out on the road helping people. Her desire for a new adventure is answered when Queen Nerelia of Tresk shows up begging for help.

Wednesday 29th April 2026 - Shale Break: The Midknights pull out all the stops to get the Gnomes of Tresk to safety - but not everything goes according to plan. Mumblin tries to escape Outpost 71. (S3, ep 8)
Thursday 30th April 2026 - A False Victory: Max & the Midknights victoriously return to Byjovia, but is their mission finished? Millie and Kevyn's sibling rivalry hits a low point when Millie reveals a major secret. (S3, ep 9)
Friday 1st May 2026 - Tomb of the Bodkin: Max and the Midknights journey to an ancient tomb to investigate the legend of King Torin and his Bodkin, where they make several unexpected discoveries. (S3, ep 10; season three finale)
The voice cast behind the Midknights, a group of misfits each with their own unique talent, include: Blu del Barrio (Star Trek: Discovery) as Max, a brave and determined girl ready to take on any challenge headed her way; Melissa Villaseñor (Saturday Night Live) as Millie, a wacky yet super positive girl who brings the power of magic to the Midknights; Zeno Robinson (Transformers: EarthSpark) as Simon, Millie’s street-savvy and sometimes sarcastic companion; and Caleb Yen (Beyblade X) as Kevyn, the bookish genius with a photographic memory. Together, the group accomplishes nearly everything that they set their mind to achieve.
Alongside the Midknights, Jeremy Rowley (iCarly) lends his voice as Uncle Budrick, Max’s lovably silly parental figure and professional troubadour, Gary Anthony Williams (Central Park) voices Mumblin, a famous retired magician who helps guide the Midknights on their quests, Brian Stepanek (The Loud House) voices King Gastley, the nefarious ruler of Byjovia, willing to do whatever it takes to maintain his throne, and India de Beaufort (It’s Pony) voices Fendra, a dark sorceress working for King Gastley.
Produced by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank, Max & the Midknights is executive produced by Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate) and Jane Startz (Ella Enchanted). Sharon Flynn (All Hail King Julien) and David Skelly (Toy Story 2) serve as co-executive producers and showrunners. Development and production is overseen by Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President, TV Series Animation, Nickelodeon, Nathan Schram, Vice President, Development, Nickelodeon Animation, and Stephanie Alpert, Vice President, Production, Nickelodeon Animation. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

The show follows Max, a determined 10-year-old girl with big dreams of becoming a knight, as she leads her friends on epic adventures filled with excitement, bravery, and lots of fun.
A faraway kingdom holds fantastical, heartfelt, and humorous journeys in Nickelodeon’s CG-animated series Max & the Midknights. Based on the best-selling children's books by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate), the show follows an adventurous 10-year-old named Max who embarks on a quest with her newfound friends to save the Kingdom of Byjovia from ominous forces.
Below is Nickelodeon UK & Eire's premiere schedule for Max & the Midknights season two:

Friday 28th November 2025 - A True Knight's Courage: Fendra completes her spell, victorious over Max, the Midknights, and all of Byjovia. (S2, ep 10; season two finale; renewed for season three)
The voice cast behind the Midknights, a group of misfits each with their own unique talent, include: Blu del Barrio (Star Trek: Discovery) as Max, a brave and determined girl ready to take on any challenge headed her way; Melissa Villaseñor (Saturday Night Live) as Millie, a wacky yet super positive girl who brings the power of magic to the Midknights; Zeno Robinson (Transformers: EarthSpark) as Simon, Millie’s street-savvy and sometimes sarcastic companion; and Caleb Yen (Beyblade X) as Kevyn, the bookish genius with a photographic memory.
Produced by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank, Max & the Midknights (20 episodes across two 10-episode seasons) is executive produced by Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate) and Jane Startz (Ella Enchanted).
