CBS All Access Adds 'Rugrats: Tales from the Crib' Specials

CBS All Access, the soon-to-be rebranded streaming service from ViacomCBS, has added two feature-length Rugrats: Tales from the Crib specials to its programming library!

A spin-off from RugratsRugrats: Tales from the Crib retold classic fairytales, with characters from Rugrats taking on the lead roles. There were two Rugrats: Tales from the Crib specials released as direct-to-DVD movies: Rugrats Tales from the Crib: Snow White (2005) and Rugrats Tales from the Crib: Three Jacks and a Beanstalk (2006), both of which are now available to stream on CBS All Access!

In Rugrats Tales from the Crib: Snow White, the Evil Queen (Angelica) lives for one thing alone - to be the fairest in the land! When her Magic Mirror reveals that it's the exuberant Snow White (Susie) that is the fairest and not her, the Queen, driven to rid herself of the competition, sends Snow White to the woods as the permanent babysitter for seven Mini babies (The Rugrats) who work in their diaper factory, thinking that it will drive her mad. Featuring special guest star Amanda Bynes as Taffy.

In Rugrats Tales from the Crib: Three Jacks and a Beanstalk, Aunt Moo, a kindly old cow, and her Children (The Rugrats) are given a bag of magical beans by a mysterious stranger. This stranger (Susie) turns out to be a magic fairy, and the beans they threw out the window grow into a gigantic beanstalk that leads up to the castle of a terrible Giant (Angelica.) Featuring special guest star Mo'Nique as Aunt Moo.

The addition of the Rugrats Tales from the Crib specials comes as Nickelodeon is preparing to premiere the network's brand new CG-animated Rugrats reboot later this year.

Full seasons of Rugrats and spin-off All Grown Up! are also available to stream on CBS All Access. Hopefully Angelica and Susie's School Daze (also known as Rugrats Pre-School Daze) will also join the line-up in the not-so-distant future.

CBS All Access will become Paramount+ on Thursday, March 4! Click here to find out how you can get a 50% discount!

Kenan Thompson Reveals What It Would Take to Bring Back 'Kenan & Kel'

Saturday Night Live star and Nickelodeon legend Kenan Thompson has revealed just what it would take to bring back Kenan & Kel — his iconic Nickelodeon sitcom from the '90s. While chatting with the TODAY Show Tuesday morning (Feb. 16), anchor Craig Melvin brought up the hit series stating how with all the remakes and reboots occurring, if there was a chance Thompson would bring back Kenan & Kel, one of Melvin's go-tos growing up.

Thompson seemed keen on the idea and offered his opinion on what might happen if the show does get a reboot, revival, or reunion. "I mean, there's always a chance, I would think, right? I wanted to see sort of the Fresh Prince when they brought it back but you know, it was just a gathering, which is fine. But I really wanted an episode," he said, adding how if Kenan & Kel makes a comeback he would want them to "definitely" make at least one new episode. It's certainly notable how Thompson is not flat out saying no to a return at the moment, but that he's just got a lot on his plate right now with executive-producing Nickelodeon's All That revival alongside his Nickelodeon comedy partner Kel Mitchell (both Thompson and Mitchell got their starts on the original series), SNL and his new NBC sitcom, Kenan, and maybe a Good Burger sequel. Thompson is also set to host Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2021 on Saturday, March 13.

The new series stars Thompson as an Atlanta morning talk show host who is also a widowed father raising his two daughters while living with his father-in-law — played by Don Johnson — and his brother, Gary. Thompson's brother in the show is played by his SNL co-star Chris Redd. In a recent Variety interview, Thompson addressed the basis for the show and what fascinated him about it.

"What if there was a guy struggling with the love of his life not being in his life anymore, and what that would look like?" he said. "And how do you still make that a sitcom? I thought that would be intriguing to watch."

Redd also spoke to Variety and shared how he grew up "watching Kenan" on TV and in movies, adding that even though Thompson was already a huge star by the time they met, "he felt like family immediately." Redd continued, "I’ve never had a big brother before, but he immediately assumed that role and put me on game. SNL can be hard especially when you don’t know how to navigate it quite yet, and he’s such a calming presence like he’s mastered the thing."

"Talk to anybody in that building at SNL, and they would have similar things to say about Kenan," Redd added. "He’s just a consistently good dude. With raw talent." Kenan premieres Tuesday at 8:30 pm ET, only on NBC.

Good Burger, Thompson and Mitchell's cult-favorite Nickelodeon movie based on their hit All That sketch, is available on Blu-ray today.

Would you like to see a Kenan & Kel revival/reboot? Let me know in the comments!

NOGGIN, NICKELODEON'S INTERACTIVE LEARNING SERVICE FOR PRESCHOOLERS, DEBUTS NEW ANIMATED MUSICAL SERIES RHYMES THROUGH TIMES

HISTORICAL SHORT-FORM SERIES FEATURES ORIGINAL MUSIC WRITTEN AND PERFORMED BY AWARD-WINNING ACTOR AND SINGER CHRISTOPHER JACKSON

Noggin, Nickelodeon's interactive learning service for preschoolers, has launched a new historical animated musical series, Rhymes Through Times, featuring original music and lyrics written and performed by award-winning actor/singer/songwriter/composer Christopher Jackson (Hamilton, Moana), and Nick's fan-favorite preschool characters. Available now on Noggin and the Nick Jr. YouTube channel, the three-episode short-form series celebrates the Black experience and showcases the contributions of Black people to American culture, focusing on civil rights and leadership, performing arts, and science.

The first episode of Rhymes Through Times, "Hero," follows Ruby Bridges and Thurgood Marshall, portrayed by the Bubble Guppies' Zooli and Goby, as they take a stand against segregation. Subsequent episodes - "My Best," which celebrates Katherine Johnson (portrayed by Nella) and Guion Stewart Bluford Jr.'s (portrayed by Goby) contributions to space exploration; and "Why We Dance," which sees Nella from Nella the Princess Knight as Katherine Dunham, and AJ from Blaze and the Monster Machines as Alvin Ailey, express themselves through dance - will roll out every week on Noggin and the Nick Jr. YouTube channel. The episodes will also air on the Nick Jr. channel.

Concurrent with the launch of their respective episodes, each of the songs from Rhymes Through Times will be available on over 200+ digital streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, Tidal, Amazon Music, Pandora and more.

Character development, animation and design for Rhymes Through Times are by Lion Forge Animation, LLC (Oscar(R)-winning Hair Love), and Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum served as educational consultant.

Rhymes Through Times incorporates a social and emotional curriculum, highlighting the value of kindness, perseverance and fairness. Aligning with Noggin's learning approach that aims to help preschoolers build big hearts, strong minds and healthy bodies, the series is the latest addition to Noggin's content slate which includes the recently launched series Noggin Knows, Kinderwood, School of Yum, Word Play and Imagination Trips, among others.

In Noggin, learning is led by the Nickelodeon preschool characters kids know and love, and developed by education and child development experts. The interactive service offers an ever-expanding library of books, learning games, activities, exclusive shorts and 1,000+ ad-free episodes of preschool favorites like PAW Patrol, Peppa Pig and Blue's Clues & You!
