Three Of Us: First Song From 'Monster High: The Movie' Soundtrack Released

MATTEL, NICKELODEON AND PARAMOUNT+ DEBUT "THREE OF US," THE FIRST SONG FROM THE MONSTER HIGH: THE MOVIE SOUNDTRACK

Share it: @Nickelodeon @Mattel @ParamountPlus @MonsterHigh #Nickelodeon #MonsterHighMovie

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT), Nickelodeon and Paramount+ today released “Three Of Us,” the first song from the soundtrack to the upcoming live-action movie musical Monster High: The Movie, based on the iconic Mattel franchise about the children of famous monsters and creatures. The full soundtrack from Warner Music Group's Arts Music Division will be released October 6, 2022 alongside the premiere of Monster High: The Movie on Nickelodeon and Paramount+. Check out the brand-new video for "Three Of Us" below, courtesy of Collider, and be sure to pre-save it at https://monsterhigh.lnk.to/ThreeofUs.

"Three Of Us" is an upbeat graveyard romp that recalls George Romero's Night of the Living Dead and Michael Jackson's iconic "Thriller" video, shrouded in fog and an eerie light cast from the streetlamps. The three new friends are celebrating their new "pack," as half-Wolf Clawdeen calls it, and the freedom of being who they truly are with one another, no longer having to hide their truths. As the trio dances around Draculaura's bubbling brew in her cauldron, they perform an epic best-friend secret handshake over the potion and gleefully belt some seriously powerful verses:

"We'll be making them believe in us

We can own it just by being us

Put us all together, there's no getting in our way

No messing with the three of us...

After everything that we've been through

Yeah, taking the power back to live our truth."

The song is full of clever wordplay, like Frankie's line, "Taking a sum of our parts, using our brains and our hearts," considering they're (Frankie uses they/them pronouns) the child of Frankenstein's Monster. The lyrics have a surprisingly deep message dressed up in spooky pink vapors and shadows, stating they "Don't need permission from the world to change it." The choreography is TikTok-trendy girl-band goodness with some Ari vibrato and whimsical levitation at the end.

Monster High: The Movie follows Clawdeen Wolf (Miia Harris, Just Beyond), who was born half human and half werewolf, after she arrives at her new school, Monster High. She quickly makes friends with her classmates Frankie Stein (Ceci Balagot, Dispatches from Elsewhere) and Draculaura (Nayah Damasen, Grey's Anatomy), and for the first time in her life, Clawdeen feels like she has finally found a place where she fits in and can truly be herself, despite keeping her human half a secret. When a devious plan to destroy Monster High threatens to reveal her real identity, Clawdeen must learn to embrace her true monster heart and find a way to save the day alongside her new friends.

Monster High: The Movie also stars: Case Walker (The Other Two) as Deuce Gorgon; Kyle Selig (Mean Girls on Broadway) as Mr. Komos; Marci T. House (Day of the Dead) as Headmistress Bloodgood; Scotch Ellis Loring (Firehouse Dog) as Clawdeen’s dad, Apollo; Steve Valentine (Mom) as Draculaura’s dad, Dracula; Jy Prishkulnik (Just Beyond) as Cleo de Nile; Lina Lecompte (Death Pursuit) as Lagoona; Justin Derickson (When the Streetlights Go On) as Heath Burns; Lilah Fitzgerald (Honey Girls) as Ghoulia; and Nasiv Sall (Descendants 2) as Abbey Bominable. Additional fan-favorite characters from the Monster High universe will also be seen throughout the movie.

Monster High: The Movie premieres Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon and streams that same day on Paramount+. The movie will encore on Nickelodeon on Friday, Oct.7, and Saturday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT). Internationally, the movie will premiere on Nickelodeon and Paramount+, beginning Oct. 6.

In addition to Monster High: The Movie, an animated series based off the beloved Mattel franchise is slated to premiere later this year on Nickelodeon. Both projects join other Mattel Television content in production, including series and specials based on Barbie, Masters of the Universe, Thomas & Friends, Polly Pocket, Pictionary and Fireman Sam, to name a few. Mattel first introduced Monster High in 2010, and it quickly became one of the most successful and beloved kids’ properties of all time. The franchise seeks to foster a more accepting world where everyone is proud to be their authentic self, which is more relevant than ever. Today, Monster High is back with a reimagined set of fangtastic characters, inspired by the original ghouls, for a new generation that embraces what makes them unique and rallies people everywhere to express themselves.

Monster High: The Movie is directed and executive produced by Todd Holland (The Real O'Neals, Malcolm in the Middle, Firehouse Dog). The story is by Jenny Jaffe (Big Hero 6: The Series, Rugrats), Greg Erb, and Jason Oremland (Princess and the Frog, Playmobil: The Movie), and the teleplay is by Jaffe and Billy & Matt Eddy (Zapped, Teen Beach Movie). Adam Bonnett (Descendants franchise, Masters of the Universe: Revelation) serves as executive producer. Frederic Soulie, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Mattel Television and Phil Breman, Vice President of Live Action Development, oversee the movie for Mattel and serve as executive producers. Production on Monster High: The Movie for Nickelodeon is overseen by Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan, Co-Heads of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action, along with executives Lee Rosenthal, Linda Halder and Jules Kovisars.

Nickelodeon To Fully Premiere 'Tyler Perry's Young Dylan' Season 3 On July 21

Nickelodeon will fully premiere Tyler Perry's Young Dylan season three on Thursday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT!

The news follows Nickelodeon airing a Juneteenth Tyler Perry's Young Dylan special from season three on June 19. Dylan Gilmer revealed the news in a interview with NBC Los Angeles to promote Nickelodeon Slime Cup 2022, in which the Nickelodeon star will provide commentary. Dylan will be joined in the booth by That Girl Lay Lay star Gabrielle Nevaeh Green and CBS Sports’ play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle

Nickelodeon announced in November that it had greenlit a 20-episode third season of its hit live-action comedy Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan. The series follows a family whose world is turned upside down when their nephew, hip-hop mogul-in-training Dylan (Dylan Gilmer), moves in unannounced. The season begun production earlier this year at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

The third season of Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan will follow Dylan as he continues his pursuit of stardom, while getting his family into hilarious hijinks along the way. Accompanying him in his quest for music greatness are his uncle Myles (Carl Anthony Payne II), aunt Yasmine (Mieko Hillman), grandmother Viola (Aloma Lesley Wright), cousins Rebecca (Celina Smith) and Charlie (Hero Hunter), and Rebecca’s best friend Bethany (Jet Miller).

About Tyler Perry Studios

Tyler Perry Studios (TPS) was formed by actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry and develops and produces motion picture films, in addition to drama and comedy television programming for the multi-platform U.S. television market.  TPS' former studio lot was situated on a 200,000 square foot former Delta Airlines campus of over 60 acres in the Greenbriar area of southwest Atlanta.  During the course of its operation, the space was home to production of 10 films and over 700 episodes of Perry's five television series.  In 2015, TPS expanded operations with the acquisition of Fort McPherson, a former army base, which sits on over 330 acres minutes from downtown Atlanta. Perry and the studio's Georgia-based employees are in production of Perry's current television series and feature films, in addition to providing state of the art facilities and services to major feature films and television shows filming in Atlanta. The TPS grounds contain twelve soundstages named after highly accomplished African-Americans in the entertainment industry that range in size between 10,000 and 60,000 square feet.
