A potential leak suggests that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl may be getting a sequel, which will allegedly feature a new playable character.
A rumor has started going around that
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl could be getting a sequel soon. The game was last updated in October last year, which introduced Rocko from
Rocko's Modern Life as a playable character, to celebrate its first anniversary.
Released in October 2021,
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a 2D platforming fighter game featuring well-loved characters, such as
SpongeBob SquarePants, the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and
Garfield. Many players have been requesting other characters, such as Squidward and
Jimmy Neutron, to be included in future DLCs, but the game has not been updated for a few months.
Over on Reddit, user
KlausHeissler09 shared a photo of Squidward models, which they claimed were leaked screenshots for the upcoming
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl sequel. The assets point to the sequel’s apparent Squidward character having a moveset revolving around a wheelchair, a furious two-handed punch, and his bizarre talent show dance moves. Meanwhile, fans may also see Patrick’s moveset updated in the follow-up, with additional shots displaying the starfish throwing his rock house.
The leaker said in the comments that the Squidward photos originated from an alleged dev leak and was later shared in a MultiVersus Discord server. Although KlausHeissler09 didn't provide further details about the sequel and the other playable characters, they theorized that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl developer GameMill might reveal the game as early as July this year.
Gamers had varying reactions to the rumor, with many thinking that the Squidward models could be fake, while others seemed excited for what's to possibly come and hoped that
Handsome Squidward would be added as well. Some were also surprised that
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl might get a sequel this early as they expected it to be a live service game that will be updated constantly with new playable characters.
Of course, this information hasn't been confirmed yet and gamers should take it with a grain of salt first and wait for official announcements about the
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl sequel. However, it's also worth acknowledging that KlausHeissler09's past leaks on Reddit have mostly been accurate. For example: They previously shared the release date of the original’s Hugh Neutron and shared the official box art of
Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 before it was revealed to the public.
Fans also should not rule out the possibility that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is just getting started with their DLC packs. Despite its most recent character, Rocko, launching in October, it has been teased that he may not be the last. In Rocko’s character showcase, the game’s developer concluded the video by simply stating, “Please look forward to more like this in the future.” It is not understood whether players will gain new content in the original, but it is looking ever-more-likely that they have not seen the last of All-Star Brawl.
If Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 does happen, players could expect more new characters, stages, and items. It's also possible that it might have similar or perhaps even better graphics than the first game, especially if it will be made for current-generation consoles. But as long as the alleged Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl sequel sticks to its core of having fun, cartoony action, players are sure to love it.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Update (6/26) - Cover art for the rumored
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 has been posted on
Twitter, however, it's currently unknown whether it is official. The box art, thought to be for the Nintendo Switch, features SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, as well as Raphael from
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Jenny "XJ-9" Wakeman from
