"Power Rangers" May Move To Netflix In 2017

Season 24 of Saban's iconic "Power Rangers" franchise will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2017, according to a new report.

Collider is reporting that the 24th season of "Power Rangers" will be called "Power Rangers Shuriken", and will be based on "Shuriken Sentai Ninninger", the 39th entry in the "Super Sentai" Japanese television series, which debuted in February this year. "Shuriken Sentai Ninninger" features a ninja theme that celebrates traditional festival themes and accents the agile nature of its heroes. In addition, the outlet notes that the Netflix-exclusive season will be comprised of a total of 32 episodes.

Saban Brands announced in Fall 2013 that they had extended their partnership with Nickelodeon and Bandai America through 2016, but it's looking like content-streaming service Netflix will be the new home of "Power Rangers" starting in 2017.

"Power Rangers" has been going strong since 1993 and just recently celebrated it's whopping 800th episode.

That's not all 2017 has in store for the Mighty Morphin heroes, as Saban's upcoming brand-new "Power Rangers" movie is set to open in theaters in January 2017. The Lionsgate film, which is being directed by Dean Israelite, will not only offer a "mature but still playful" take on the series, but also reportedly introduce a number of changes, including new names for each of the Rangers.

Several of the cast members for the all-new "Power Rangers" film have already been revealed, with Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery playing the Red Ranger, Ludi Lin cast as the Black Ranger, and RJ Cyler assuming the role of the Blue Ranger.

Fans can currently watch brand-new episodes of the latest "Power Rangers" series, "Power Rangers Dino Charge", every Saturday at 12:00pm ET/PT on Nickelodeon USA. "Power Rangers Dino Super Charge", the next instalment of the hit property, is set to debut on Nick USA in early 2016.
