HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--Feb. 03, 2021--Nickelodeon and CBS Sports, in partnership with the NFL, are teaming up again, this time to produce special multiplatform content to get kids and families excited in the lead up to Super Bowl LV on CBS.

The fun starts with the Nickelodeon Super Duper Super Bowl Pregame Spectacular, an original half-hour pregame show hosted by Nick stars Gabrielle Nevaeh Green (All That, Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered) and Lex Lumpkin (All That, Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered). The show will feature Super Bowl fun facts, “Nick-ified” season highlights and predictions of this year’s winning team with help from special guests. The special will premiere Friday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) and re-air multiple times over the weekend.

On Super Bowl Sunday, CBS’ pregame show, THE SUPER BOWL TODAY, which airs from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. (ET), will feature a specially produced segment of Nickelodeon’s game show Unfiltered, where Green and Lumpkin will try to guess the virtually disguised identity of one of the NFL’s biggest stars from Super Bowl LV. Additionally, a “Nick-ified” highlights package will air as part of CBS’ halftime coverage of Super Bowl LV, which features the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. (ET) at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

While Nickelodeon will air its Super Duper Super Bowl Pregame Spectacular throughout the weekend, Super Bowl LV itself will air on the CBS Television Network. The game can also be streamed across devices on CBS Sports and NFL digital properties, via CBS All Access, and on mobile via the participating teams’ mobile properties, Yahoo Sports and other Verizon Media mobile properties. The game will also be available in Spanish on ESPN Deportes.

For kids and families watching the game on CBS and looking for second screen content, @Nickelodeon, @NFLonCBS, @CBSSports and NFL handles will feature “Nick-ified” highlights before and during Super Bowl LV. Kids can also interact with complementary content such as polls, trivia and games at NFLNickPlay.com.

These elements build on the success of the dual CBS and Nickelodeon production of the NFL Wild Card game on Sunday, Jan. 10, between the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears, which drew the highest viewership of Super Wild Card Weekend across both networks and gave Nickelodeon its biggest audience in nearly four years.

Said Brian Robbins, President of ViacomCBS Kids & Family Entertainment: “Our broadcast of the NFL Wild Card game was undoubtedly one of the greatest moments in Nick’s history, and the enormous positive response shows how big of an appetite there is for a kids and family-oriented sports production like ours. Given all that enthusiasm, it feels really good to team up again with everyone at CBS Sports and the NFL with pregame coverage and digital highlights that bring fun and slime to the biggest football game of the year.”

Added Sean McManus, Chairman, CBS Sports: “We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Nickelodeon and build off the success and overwhelming positive response from the production of the NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon. The 'Nick-ified' elements in our pregame and halftime programming, along with the second screen digital and social highlights, will be the perfect complement to CBS Sports' first-class broadcast of Super Bowl LV, allowing us to reach an even wider audience on Super Bowl Sunday across a variety of platforms as we continue to showcase the power of the ViacomCBS family."

Details of Nickelodeon and CBS Sports’ original kids and family content for Super Bowl LV weekend are as follows:

  • @NFLonCBS, @CBSSports, @Nickelodeon and a variety of NFL social handles (e.g., @NFLUp, @TheCheckdown) will post Nick-themed highlights and moments from Super Bowl LV, with voiceover commentary from play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle and Nickelodeon star Gabrielle Nevaeh Green.
  • CBS’ THE SUPER BOWL TODAY will feature a special sports-themed segment of Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered game show, hosted by Jay Pharoah. Nick stars Gabrielle Nevaeh Green and Lex Lumpkin will try to guess the identity of one of NFL’s biggest stars from Super Bowl LV, who is virtually disguised behind an animated 3D filter and voice changer.
  • CBS Sports analyst Nate Burleson will recap the “slime-lights,” highlights from the first two quarters of the game that have been “Nick-ified” with original on-field graphics and filters, during halftime on The CBS Television Network.
  • Nickelodeon will kick off Super Bowl LV weekend with the Nickelodeon Super Duper Super Bowl Pregame Spectacular, a half-hour pregame special hosted by Green and Lumpkin, featuring Super Bowl fun facts, “Nick-ified” season highlights and predictions of this year’s winning team with help from special guests. The Nickelodeon Super Duper Super Bowl Pregame Spectacular will premiere Friday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT), on Nickelodeon, and encore Saturday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m., 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 7, at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (all times ET/PT). The special will also be available on Nickelodeon On Demand and the Nick App beginning Saturday, Feb. 6.
  • NFLNickPlay.com will serve as a second screen experience for kids and families on game day, where users can engage with polls, trivia, games and more.

CBS Sports and Nickelodeon’s special slime-filled presentation of The NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon was Nick’s most-watched program among total viewers in nearly four years and the number-one cable telecast of the week with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11. Airing alongside CBS’ broadcast, the first-ever NFL telecast produced for kids and families generated more than two billion social media impressions and Nickelodeon was the number-one trending topic in the U.S. on Twitter during that afternoon.

The Nickelodeon Super Duper Super Bowl Pregame Spectacular is executive produced by Ashley Kaplan, Luke Wahl and Shawn Robbins, and co-executive produced by Barry Smoler. Jennifer Bryson serves as executive in charge of production.

Sean McManus is Chairman, CBS Sports and serves as Executive Producer for the Network’s coverage of THE NFL ON CBS and Super Bowl LV. David Berson is President, CBS Sports. Harold Bryant is Executive Producer and Executive Vice President, Production, CBS Sports. Drew Kaliski is producer of THE SUPER BOWL TODAY.

Nickelodeon Set to Deliver 'Middlemost Post' During Summer 2021

John Trabbic III has revealed on Twitter that Nickelodeon is planning to debut his brand new original animated series, Middlemost Post during summer 2021!

Announced in June 2020, Middlemost Post (working title) is an all new animated series which combines quirky characters with hilarious adventures and unwavering friendship.

Created and co-executive produced by John Trabbic III (SpongeBob SquarePants, storyboard director), the 20-episode 2D-animated series follows a former rain cloud, a brawny mailman and their magical pet walrus as they deliver packages to the unusual inhabitants of Mount Middlemost.

Middlemost Post is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, with Dave Johnson serving as co-executive producer and story editor, and Chris Battle (Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, The Mighty B!, Duckman)

serving as a character designer. Additional casting news and premiere date will be announced in the coming months.

Middlemost Post captures everything we look for in a new series--an imaginative and truly unique world, lovable characters who care deeply about each other and big comedic moments to drive the story,” said Ramsey Naito, Executive Vice President, Nickelodeon Animation. “The series is created by our very own John Trabbic, with writing partner Dave Johnson, and we can’t wait to bring to life the characters and places in this artist-driven series for our global audience.”

In Middlemost Post, Parker J. Cloud, an exuberant raincloud, lives and works in the Middlemost Post Office with Angus, a burly, rule-abiding mailman who cherishes his solitude and values efficiency, and Russell, their magical pet walrus whose stomach is so big that it doubles as a storage room. Together they journey through Mount Middlemost and the six territories of Somewhere to deliver the mail, while meeting some exceptionally quirky and peculiar people along the way. But as this loving and unconventional trio grows closer, they remain blissfully unaware that they have been brought together by one fateful stormy event.

“This show, when [Trabbic] first pitched it to us, just was so unique,” Naito said in a separate statement. “It had all the qualities we look for. It was character driven. It had an ensemble that illustrated a really comedic relationship, with a backdrop that was fun and exciting. [And] it really feels original.”

“It’s a chance for us to just let our imaginations go wild,” Trabbic says.

Adds Johnson: “Parker is just a kid who’s learning life, but he [wears his] emotions on his sleeve, and because he’s a cloud, he’s pliable and can transform.”

Middlemost Post's greenlight comes on the heels of recent announcements for Big Nate, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, and a third season of The Casagrandes. The original series exemplifies Nickelodeon’s commitment to bringing fresh innovative content to kids and families around the world.

How Involved Was Stephen Hillenburg in Producing 'Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years'?

When Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years, Nickelodeon's brand new CG-animated spin-off from SpongeBob SquarePants, was first announced in June 2019, it's fair to say that the announcement was met with quite a bit of criticism, including claims that it goes against the wishes of Stephen Hillenburg's, the late creator of SpongeBob SquarePants, who sadly passed away in November 2018.

Things got a bit more confusing last month when "I'm Urchin You to Leave", a Kamp Koral short based on the series, was leaked, featuring a credit saying that the show was created by Hillenburg, leaving fans asking just how involved the late creator was involved in the spin-off.

Answering a fan's question on Twitter, SpongeBob SquarePants showrunner Vincent Waller, who serves as a co-executive producer on the series on Kamp Koral, revealed that Steve was aware that the spin-off was being developed, but sadly did not get to see it completed, added that he thinks Kamp Koral would of made him happy:

The news follows Waller addressing the rumor last summer that Hillenburg purportedly didn't want the beloved animated series to have any spin-offs, revealing that Hillenburg actually said "I don't see any spin-offs," not "I would never do a spin-off":

From Nickelodeon, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years is the first-ever SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff. The CG-animated prequel series (13 episodes) follows 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants and his pals during summer sleepaway camp where they spend their time building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral.

Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years features Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) reprising their iconic roles. Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko's Modern Life, The Casagrandes) and Kate Higgins (Blaze and the Monster Machines) join as new characters Nobby and Narlene, narwhal siblings who live in the woods surrounding the camp.

Marc Ceccarelli (SpongeBob SquarePants), Vincent Waller (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Jennie Monica (SpongeBob SquarePants) are co-executive producers of the series. Production of KAMP KORAL: SPONGEBOB’S UNDER YEARS is overseen by Kelley Gardner, Vice President, Current Series Animation, Nickelodeon. The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif.

The first six episodes of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years will be released on Paramount+ on Thursday, March 4, along with the brand new SpongeBob movie, Sponge on the Run! More episodes of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years will premiere on Paramount+ later in the year, with the series also airing on Nickelodeon at a later date. Click here for a sneak peek!
