Pantochino Summer Teen Theatre Now Registering for The SpongeBob Musical


The beloved Nickelodeon series comes to life in this 2-week immersive program where young actors 12 to 18 years old learn, rehearse and perform!

Milford, CT - Award-winning Pantochino Productions Inc has announced registration for its Summer Teen Theatre production of The SpongeBob Musical. The immersive two-week program allows young actors 12 to 18 years old the opportunity to learn, rehearse and perform a full-scale musical working with professional directors, choreographers and designers. Dates for the program are July 26-August 8, 2021.

The SpongeBob Musical is based on the Nickelodeon series by Stephen Hillenburg and features book by Kyle Jarrow. Original songs are by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Barielles, Jonathan Coultron, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeors, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic At The Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, T. I. and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny &Andy Paley. Additional lyrics are b Jonathan Coulton and additional music is by Tom Kitt. The musical was conceived by Tina Landau. The show is presented with special arrangement with Concorde Theatricals.


The stakes are higher than ever in this dynamic stage musical, as SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world. Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage. The power of optimism really can save the world!

The SpongeBob Musical will be directed by Bert Bernardi with musical direction by Justin Rugg. Becki Walter Arena will choreograph. Rehearsals will take place Monday-Friday 9am to 3pm at Pantochino Studios in the Connecticut Post Mall. The location for performances on August 6-8th will be announced pending updated COVID-19 protocols.  The program is limited to 30 participants, first come first served.

The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! was broadcast in December 2019 across Nickelodeon platforms and featured much of the original Broadway company reprising their performances, including Tony nominee Ethan Slater as the high-energy title sponge, Tony nominee Gavin Lee as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Danny Skinner as Patrick Star, Brian Ray Norris as Eugene Krabs, and Wesley Taylor as Sheldon Plankton. The TV event is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and now available on DVD.

Sonia Manzano and Sumalee Montano Talk 'The Casagrandes'

If you watch Nickelodeon regularly, chances are you’ve caught some episodes of Nickelodeon’s The Casagrandes. It’s the hit spinoff of another animated series, The Loud House. Viewers of all ages love the Casagrande family, their customs, and hilarious interactions — brought to life by an incredible cast of voice actors — which is one of the many reasons why the show has such mass appeal.


Who Are The Casagrandes?

The Casagrandes tells the story of 11-year-old Ronnie Anne Santiago and her family. Ronnie Anne is a free-spirited girl who loves to skateboard, and has to move to the big city to live with her large Mexican-family, the Casagrandes. Needless to say, this creates some challenges for our hero.

Not only does Ronnie Anne have to adjust to big city, but she also has to get used to being under one roof with her grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousins, and a talking parrot. That’s not to mention working at the family’s mercado. 

As Ronnie Anne settles in, Ronnie Anne goes on a variety of adventures as she explores the endless possibilities in the Great Lakes City, while adjusting to life with her very large family.

Meet The Casagrandes Cast

There are many big personalities in the show, including Ronnie Anne’s grandmother, Rosa, and mother Maria. Rosa Casagrande is voiced by Sonia Manzano, who is best known for her role as “Maria” for years on Sesame Street, and Maria Casagrande-Santiago is voiced by Sumalee Montano, whose credits range from Nashville, Justice League and Beware the Batman to Kung Fu Panda and Carmen Sandiego.

So what do these industry veterans love about their characters and the show?

“It’s not the cliche of only cooking and cleaning the house,” Sonia told Parentology. She loves that her character Rosa is both a fierce protector of her grandchildren and also a big multi-tasker. “She can also fix the boiler. She can also fix the plumbing,” she says.

Sumalee tells Parentology that she finds it appealing that her character, Maria, is also multi-faceted. She says there’s a lot more to her character than meets the eye.

“She’s this hardworking single mom, but as you get to know her through the series you get to find out that in high school and when she was younger, she was this big rock and roller… and that she plays a mean harp,” Sumalee laughs.

While The Casagrandes is certainly entertaining for kids, both women tell Parentology that there are also messages that they hope come across for parents and children. For example, in the show, Maria asks Ronnie Anne rhetorically, “How did I get so lucky with you?” Sonia points out that it’s a wonderful thing for all parents to find the time to say to their kids more often.  

“Praise your kid. It’s okay to praise your kid. It’s not making them stronger if you don’t praise them,” Sonia says.

This subtle parenting moment isn’t the only message that can be found in The Casagrandes. For example, Sumalee loves Ronnie Anne’s moxie, her sense of adventure and that she makes mistakes. And although Ronnie Anne stumbles from time to time — like any kid — she has a kind heart and works her way back. 

“It’s okay to make mistakes and then you learn to work together to right them and to fix them,” Sumalee says. And the ultimate outcome? “To increase the love and joy in the family,” adds Sumalee.

Nickelodeon to Premiere 'Spyders' in Latin America and Brazil in February 2021

Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) and Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil) will premiere Nickelodeon Spyders, Nickelodeon International's brand new comic action-adventure series in February 2021! The series follows the adventures of three siblings who discover that their parents are undercover spies for an environmental protection agency, and decide to also become spies in order to help them in secret.


Nickelodeon Spyders will premiere on Nickelodeon on Monday 8th February 2021 at 17:00 in Argentina, 19:00 in México and Brazil, 19:30 in Colombia, 20:30 in Venezuela and at 21:30 in Chile.

​"While spending a summer-long family vacation by the lake, siblings Tommy, Nikki, and Daniel Fisher discover that their seemingly boring parents are actually daring undercover spies, who are chasing a devious villain aiming to dry up the country's water supply. When the siblings realize their parents' mission is in jeopardy, they form a secret task force called THE SPYDERS in order to help them out. Tommy, 12, a cute, irresistible goofball; Nikki, 15, a well-meaning but impetuous leader, and Daniel, 16, a sedentary, anxiety-ridden computer nerd, use their brains, charm, audacity and unbridled enthusiasm to outwit and outsmart the villain, who has so far eluded their parents. Will the untrained, blundering Spyders succeed where mom and dad failed?"

Spyders (originally titled The Covurts) focuses on Anna and Noah Fisher, (portrayed by Nati Kluger and Kobi Maimon (The Greenhouse), respectively) highly highly skilled undercover agents who work for a ECCO – Environmental Counter Crime Organization, and are tasked with fighting criminals who endanger nature or the environment. Little do they know that their three kids – Daniel (16; played by Amit Hechter, Dog House), Nikki (15; played by Kim Or Azulay) and Tommy (12; portrayed by Yonathan Gottlieb, Dog House, Forever) – have discovered their secret occupation and have formed a task force of their own, named Spyders.

Nickelodeon's Spyders is the first original co-production between Nickelodeon International and Israeli Nutz Productions—the subsidiary production arm of Ananey Communications Group—together with Israeli cable network HOT.

Nickelodeon has ordered 40 x 22-minute episodes, divided into two seasons, which will be distributed to Nickelodeon's international audiences spanning 170+ countries and territories via the brand’s more than 100 channels and branded blocks. The series made its world debut on TeenNick Israel on Wednesday 18th March 2020.

Spyders is created by Michal Cooper Keren, Tom Riles, David Guest and Patrick Quinn. The head writer is Israeli screenwriter Michal Cooper Keren, the creator of Nickelodeon Israel's Spell Keepers. The series is an original co-production between Nickelodeon International, Nutz Productions and Ananey Communications Group.

Michal Cooper Keren, who created Nickelodeon Israel's Spell Keepers, is also the series' head writer. The series is an original co-production between Nickelodeon International, Nutz Productions and Ananey Communications Group.


The series commenced filming in Israel during summer 2019 and wrapped in December the same year.

“After a long history of collaboration with Ananey, we are so excited to kick off our first co-production together with our partners in Israel,” said Nina Hahn, the Senior Vice President (SVP) of International Production and Development for Nickelodeon, when the show was first announced at global TV and digital content market MIPTV in April 2018. “We can’t wait for young fans around the world to meet The Spyders!”

Orly Atlas-Katz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) OF Ananey Communications said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Nickelodeon International. I am certain that with their vast experience in content for kids, HOT's programming expertise and our high-end productions abilities, this show will be something to look forward to."

Ananey is an Israeli content producer and pay-TV provider that serves as the Israeli licensor of several of Viacom’s biggest brands, including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and MTV, and produces both local and international original content.

Under the partnership, Nickelodeon has become Israel's No. 1 children's channel and, alongside Nick Jr., reaches 49 percent of the youth audience, due in large part to Ananey’s original local productions for kids and teens.

The greenlight of The Spyders comes on the heels of Viacom purchasing a minority stake in Ananey Communications Group in 2017.

Nickelodeon Spyders is the second series that originated on Nickelodeon Israel to air on Nick UK, following The Greenhouse in 2014 which was filmed in Hebrew and dubbed into English. The series was later remade under the title Greenhouse Academy for Netflix.

Nutz entered a co-pro deal with Bunim/Murray Productions’ (Nickelodeon's The Crystal Maze) new BMP Kids division on the youth prank show Gotcha, which bowed on Nick Israel last December. Other popular Nutz series currently airing on Nick Israel include Spell Keepers, Bed & Biscuit (Dog House) and The Hood.
