Jayden Bartels to Perform at KCA 2021, Reveals Dream 'Side Hustle' Guest Star

Jayden Bartels Reveals Taylor Swift Is Her Dream ‘Side Hustle’ Guest Star: She’s A ‘Musical Genius’

Side Hustle is Nickelodeon’s hit buddy comedy with Jayden Bartels and Jules LeBlanc. Jayden chatted EXCLUSIVELY with HollywoodLife about who she’d like to see show up on Side Hustle as a guest star at some point. “Obviously, I would want Taylor Swift because she’s like a musical genius, but I always say Grace Vanderwaal because I think we have similar styles,” Jayden told HollywoodLife. “I love her writing style, so probably either Taylor or Grace Vanderwaal.”

Jayden and Taylor already have some history. Jayden was featured in Taylor’s music video for “The Man.” When the video was released, Taylor sweetly tweeted at Jayden, “Every time I see you in the video I just GRIN because you were so good and so awesome to be around. Thank you SO much for being a part of it!!!” Now let’s make this guest-starring role happen and bring it full circle!

A brand-new episode of Side Hustle will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT following the Nickelodeon's Kids’ Choice Awards 2021 on March 13. Presley and Lex go on a dog-filled adventure in this new episode. “Lex and Presley are dealing with dogs, but there’s a lot of animals in this episode, which I really like,” Jayden teased. “They’re just in a sticky situation with this dog wedding. I’m really excited for everyone to see this episode and also because there are cute animals in it.”

In the episodes to come, fans can expect more music from Jayden and Jules. “They do a lot more performances,” Jayden revealed. “They’re starting to do music a lot more, which I really like. It’s actually fun because on set Jules and I love to sing and dance, so the fact that they’re writing it in is really exciting.”

At the 2021 KCAs, Jayden will be performing during the awards show for the first time. “I am more excited than nervous, but obviously a little bit nervous,” the actress and singer admitted. “I love the songs that I’m singing. I’m singing with a bunch of my close friends. It’s going to be a lot of fun. I love performing and it’s my first time performing at the KCAs. Gosh, what a big moment.”

Victoria Justice Revisits the Cancellation of 'Victorious': 'I Was Honestly Just as Shocked as Everyone Else'

"I think all of us, to be honest, were ready in our own ways to move on and try other things."

Victorious had quite the run over on Nickelodeon beginning in 2010. Victoria Justice led the series as Tori Vega, a student at Hollywood Arts High School. The show followed Tori and her friends as they completed school assignments and wove through the unusual antics that would ensue. Victorious posted some impressive viewership numbers, amassed a dedicated fanbase and even scored three Primetime Emmy nominations. However, ultimately, the show came to an unceremonious conclusion.

In August of 2012, it was revealed that Victorious would not be getting a proper fourth season. Instead, Nickelodeon split Season 3 of the show in half, technically creating a Season 4 in the process. But still, that wasn’t the official finale fans were hoping for, something addressed in a line of dialogue in the Victorious spin-off series Sam & Cat, which only lasted a single (extended) season itself.

The cancelation of a show can be a significant experience at any stage of an actor’s career. While retracing Justice’s steps on Collider Ladies Night, revisiting the end of Victorious was a must, specifically focusing on the experience of going through such a cancelation when you’re an actor on a show and don’t have control over the high-level decisions being made. Here’s what Justice said on the matter:

“Yeah, it definitely was not in my control at all. I had no decision making power there whatsoever. And to be honest, I thought that the show was for sure going another season. There was no doubt in my mind we were gonna go another season. So I was honestly just as shocked as everyone else.”

In addition to that shock, there was also the disappointment of the series not getting a proper finale, something that could have offered the cast and fans a sense of closure. Justice continued:

“Of course I would have loved for our show to have an epic finale because I think that it did deserve that and I think it would have been so epic and really, really fun. But life goes on and I’m just so grateful that so many people did love the show and to this day still watch the show.”

The silver lining to all of this? The end of the show did offer Justice the chance to put that time towards other projects. She was ready to evolve her craft, pursue different types of roles and explore other passions, opportunities that she’s certainly been making the most of ever since.

“I think as an actor, you also get to a certain point where, you know, I was growing up, I was maturing, I was evolving. I think I was 20 at that point, so I was also ready to branch out and try new things and take on some more mature roles and I was exploring music a little bit more at that time. So I think all of us, to be honest, were ready in our own ways to move on and try other things. But I think we all felt that we would have loved a more final finale, but you know, it is all good and it’s a great show and people love it and I’m very proud of it.”

If you’d like to hear more from Justice on her journey from Nickelodeon to her new movie Trust, you can catch the full Collider Ladies Night conversation in the video below:

Share It: @Nickelodeon #KCA https://bit.ly/kca21info

The stage is set, the slime is ready, and the orange carpet has been rolled out - it's very nearly time for Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2021! - and here's everything you need to know about this year's ceremony!

Who's hosting KCA 2021?

Actor, comedian, Saturday Night Live superstar and Nickelodeon legend Kenan Thompson (KenanAll That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger) will be returning to his Nickelodeon roots to host Kids’ Choice Awards 2021 live from the Barker Hanger in L.A.! The Nick alum will be taking kids on a wild and slimy ride, making kids and families everywhere literally part of the show like never before for an epic celebration of fan-favorite stars across the worlds of film, television, music, sports and more.

For the first time ever, Nickelodeon’s Orange Blimp will leave the KCA venue and take fans on a wild ride around the world and beyond. Filled with slime and messy stunts, viewers will travel to outer space, Bikini Bottom and right into celebrities’ homes using XR technology. This year’s show will also feature live and interactive fan walls that bring celebrities and families at home to the main stage; second screen live voting all night long where fans stay in control; and a KCA blimp award presented by one lucky family chosen during the show.

Who is set to appear at KCA 2021?

Lots of your favorite celebrities are set to take part in KCA 2021 - and when I say lots, I mean, LOTS! Scheduled to appear are: Kim Kardashian, Gal Gadot, Robert Downey Jr., Millie Bobby Brown, Charli D’Amelio, BTS, Hailey Bieber, Addison Rae, Sofía Vergara, David Dobrik, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tiffany Haddish, Anna Kendrick, Liza Koshy, Jennifer Garner, Heidi Klum, Terry Crews, Tyler Perry, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Marsai Martin, Joshua Bassett, Anthony Anderson, Dani & Dannah Lane, Iain Armitage and more!

As Nickelodeon’s Orange Blimp takes fans on a virtual ride around the world and beyond, Nickelodeon’s iCarly cast members Miranda Cosgrove (Carly Shay), Jerry Trainor (Spencer Shay) and Nathan Kress (Freddie Benson) will reunite to present this year’s KCA for “Favorite Movie.” The hit show, which ran on Nickelodeon for six seasons, will be returning as a revival series on ViacomCBS’ rebranded streaming service Paramount+.

Stars from the worlds of TV, music, film and social media will be joined by Nickelodeon talent: JoJo Siwa; That Girl Lay Lay; Jules LeBlanc and Jayden Bartels (Side Hustle); Gabrielle Nevaeh Green and Darci Lynne (Unfiltered); and Young Dylan (Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan).

Justin Bieber will hit the KCA main stage for a Total Music Takeover, featuring epic, show-stopping performances of his chart-topping hits “Intentions,” joined by Quavo, and his latest single “Anyone.”

Vice President Kamala Harris will also be delivering special remarks. The Vice President, who will be introduced by actress Jennifer Garner, is set to appear as part of the show’s Generation Change presentation, which recognizes kids’ strength and courage to create a better world for future generations.

What can I expect to see during KCA 2021?

Again, lots!

This year’s show will also feature live and interactive fan walls that bring celebrities and families at home to the main stage; second screen live voting all night long where fans stay in control. There will also be an exclusive sneak peek clip from PAW Patrol: The Movie.

Will there be a pre-show?

What about the slime?

It's slime time! The Kids’ Choice Awards wouldn't be the Kids’ Choice Awards without massive quantities of Nickelodeon's iconic green slime!

At least six presenters are slated to be doused, and with the KCA stage surrounded by a massive lagoon, at least one celebrity will be taking a dip in the goo during a special musical performance! Find out who here!

Nick also sent 12-ounce bottles of slime to participating families at home, who will simultaneously unleash the green stuff. Nickelodeon has partnered with Guinness World Records to achieve a new milestone: the most simultaneous slimings from different locations at the same time!

Additionally, Nickelodeon is harnessing the power of augmented reality (AR) to bring the gooey green slime of the Kids’ Choice Awards into fans’ worlds in a brand-new way. In the Do Not Touch app, viewers can fly the iconic KCA blimp and dump slime all over their homes. The app creates the interactive experience by using a mobile device’s camera to detect real world objects.
