Nickelodeon and CBS Sports Team Up With NFL for the 2023 Season

NFL Weekly Series NFL Slimetime Renewed for Third Season on Nickelodeon

Today on CBS Mornings, Nickelodeon and CBS Sports announced they are teaming up with the National Football League (NFL) again for the 2023 football season with the Nickelodeon NFL Nickmas Game, a special slime-filled Christmas Day game tailored for kids and families on Monday, Dec. 25, at 1:00 PM, ET between the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs, and a third season of Nick’s weekly NFL series, NFL Slimetime. CBS Sports’ presentation of the Christmas Day game will be broadcast on The CBS Television Network, and available to stream live on Paramount+ and on mobile with NFL+, while the special slime-filled presentation for family-viewing fun will air exclusively on Nickelodeon.


NFL Slimetime, the 2023 two-time Sports Emmy Award-nominated weekly show, will return for a third season on Nickelodeon in September at the start of the football season, with episodes available to stream on Paramount+. Hosted by CBS Sports analyst and former NFL standout Nate Burleson and Nick star Young Dylan (Dylan Gilmer, Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan), the show will continue to feature Nick-ified highlights, expert advice and special guest appearances for kids and families to enjoy together.

The full 2023 NFL Schedule will be released tonight, Thursday, May 11, at 8:00 PM, ET on NFL Network, NFL.com and the NFL app. NFL GameDay View: Schedule Release will stream that night at 8:00 PM, ET on NFL.com, the NFL app, YouTube and the NFL Channel.

Mae Whitman Will Not Return as the Voice of Katara in Upcoming ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Projects

Nickelodeon is ready to begin a new era for one of their most beloved animated franchises, Avatar: The Last Airbender. New movies from the franchise are currently in development, with the first one, which will follow the original Gaang as grown ups, making its way to the big screen on October 10, 2025. After two successful shows in Nickelodeon over the course of a decade, the Four Nations will be making a comeback.


During a recent interview with Awards Radar promoting Up Here, Mae Whitman, the actor behind the voice of Katara during the three seasons of the original Nickelodeon series, revealed that she will not be involved with the upcoming films. With the main characters of the franchise being older in the project, it remained to be seen if Whitman would return to the role, but she has now confirmed that things will go in a different direction, mentioning:

“Katara is another one who is a huge part of who I am, and I feel so honored about having had the opportunity to play her. I’m excited that we get to see a new iteration of her. A new version of who she is. And to have actors come in, who honestly fit the role much better. I’m so happy to pass the torch on, I’m so thrilled to be a part of her growth and I feel it’s important for us all to grow. For us to move on towards things that are more true and honest. I’m thrilled to have a little piece of that in my heart, forever, and I really can’t wait to see where she goes next.”

The actor also mentioned how exicted she is for a more diverse cast to take over the roles that first made their way to television screens around the world in 2005. Details surrounding the new movies are currently under wraps, but it was confirmed during this year’s CinemaCon that the characters from the Avatar: The Last Airbender will be going on adventure in their mid-twenties and thirties.

Whitman was the first actor to voice Katara. In the sequel, The Legend of Korra, the character was voiced by Eva Marie Saint.

Pluto TV UK Launches 'Moesha' Channel

Pluto TV, the world's leading FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) service from Paramount Global, has launched a Moesha channel in the U.K., airing back-to-back episodes of the hit '90s sitcom round-the-clock! The channel can be watched at Pluto.tv and through iOS and Android apps, as well as through selected connected TVs.

Navigating the twists and firsts of high school, Moesha juggles friendships, romance and the occasional drama while trying to keep her family together. The series stars Brandy Norwood, William Allen Young, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Countess Vaughn, Lamont Bentley, Shar Jackson, Marcus T. Paulk, Yvette Wilson, Fredro Starr, and Ray J. The series ran for 127 episodes over six seasons between January 23, 1996 – May 14, 2001, and aired on Nickelodeon in the U.K. for most of its run. The series was spun-off in 1999 with The Parkers, starring Countess Vaughn, with Mo'Nique playing her mother.


Though not direct spin-offs of Moesha, the shows Girlfriends and The Game were created by Moesha writer Mara Brock Akil and exist in the same universe as Moesha.

A Moesha reboot is said to be in the works.
