'Frasier' Season Two

FEBRUARY 22, 2024 – Paramount+ today announced that its new original comedy series FRASIER, starring Kelsey Grammer, has been renewed for a second season. Season one currently is available to stream exclusively on Paramount+. Try Paramount+ for FREE at ParamountPlus.com.

Produced by CBS Studios, season two of FRASIER will continue to film in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. The series follows Frasier Crane (Grammer) in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships and – with hope – finally fulfill an old dream or two.

“Kelsey made a triumphant return as one of the most iconic and beloved characters on television,” said Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President, Programming, Paramount+. “The new series introduced FRASIER to a whole new generation while reminding fans of Kelsey’s truly timeless portrayal of Dr. Crane. We're so excited to see what the creative team and superb cast serve up for season two.”

FRASIER is a love story, and I am very happy we will be allowed to continue it. I’m delighted that our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ are on board for another season, and I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store!” said Kelsey Grammer, star and executive producer of FRASIER.

In addition to Grammer, the series stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as Freddy, Frasier’s son; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan, Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor; Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university’s psychology department; Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Freddy’s roommate; and Anders Keith as David, Frasier’s nephew. Season one featured guest appearances from original series cast, including Bebe Neuwirth and Peri Gilpin.

The original Frasier still holds the record for most Emmy® wins for a comedy series with 37 wins and 107 nominations.

FRASIER comes from writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces), who executive produce with Kelsey Grammer, Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Grammer’s Grammnet NH Productions. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of the Paramount+ markets.

Paramount Global, Comcast ‘Hold Talks’ About Joint-Venture US Streamer

Paramount Global has held “recent talks” with rival US media giant Comcast about a potential streaming joint venture or partnership that would combine Paramount+ with Peacock in the US, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The move would replicate the two players’ strategy in Europe, where they operate SkyShowtime in more than 20 markets, and comes as Paramount+ and Peacock struggle to challenge the likes of Netflix and Disney+ on their own.

First reported by the Wall Street Journal on Friday (Feb. 16), the talks have been described as “early discussions” by various US media outlets. Paramount Global and NBCUniversal owner Comcast have declined to comment.

Paramount+ features content from Nickelodeon, BET, CBS, Showtime, Comedy Central, MTV, Paramount Pictures and the Smithsonian Channel, with originals including Yellowjackets, Halo, Sexy Beast, and the upcoming reboot of Dora.

Peacock, meanwhile, offers original series, live sports and movies from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination, as well as access to shows from NBC and Bravo, such as Saturday Night Live.

The discussions take place as merger and acquisitions rumours swirl around Paramount Global, with owner Shari Redstone, after years of endeavoring to hold on to the company, growing receptive to the idea of selling.

David Ellison’s Skydance has reportedly submitted an all-cash bid to acquire a majority stake in Paramount’s parent company National Amusements, while mega mergers with the likes of Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) and Comcast have also been mooted.

Paramount Global is in the process of making an estimated 800 job cuts across its US and international teams, as well as shuttering its kids’ streaming service Noggin, with CEO Bob Bakish prioritising returning the company to earnings growth in 2024.

Led by chairman and CEO Brian Roberts, Comcast is in the process of selling its 33% stake in US streamer Hulu to The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) for a minimum of US$8.6bn as the domestic streaming sector consolidates amid Netflix’s domination of the market.

TWDC, WBD and Fox recently announced a partnership to launch a sports-focused streaming service in the US as the traditional players team up to take on Netflix.

Paramount+ and Peacock were among the major US streamers to reduce their output last year, with Ampere Analysis revealing at the beginning of this year that SVoD commissions are in “terminal decline.”

Ampere Analysis has also predicted that Paramount Global and NBCUniversal will be among the US studios to achieve profitability by the first quarter of 2025.

Student Interviews Team GB Paralympians For New Nickelodeon UK Series Celebrating SpongeBob's 25th Anniversary

Kieran Logendra, a Second Year Drama scholar, has had an exciting few weeks. As well as a busy school schedule, Kieran works professionally as an actor and presenter. Recently, he has been working with kids’ channel Nickelodeon UK on an exciting series ahead of The Paralympic Games of Paris 2024 this summer.

Kieran Logendra

Kieran explained to his school paper, “I’ve worked with Nickelodeon a few times before, and spent a week last summer filming as a co-host for Nick’s Guide To…  The latest bit of filming I’ve done is for the SpongeBob’s 25th Anniversary project with the GB Paralympics team.

“I’m one of a few hosts who interview Paralympians and have a go at some para-sports. Most of these shoots have involved travelling to the GB teams’ training sites, filming an introduction with a co-host, interviewing the Paralympian and having some time with them, where they teach us the sport and techniques.

“I can’t reveal any of the athletes’ names until the programmes come out, but my favourite interview was with a para-swimmer. She was really fun and gave me some tips on how to improve my swimming. The whole day was shot in the pool, so it was really interesting to see how the film crew filmed underwater and above us with a crane!

“I’ve loved getting the chance to meet these determined Paralympians, whose journeys are so inspiring to me. For example, when I met a Paralympian archer – she told me about how everyone told her she couldn’t do archery because of her disability (she was born with a short left arm). Even though lots of people told her she couldn’t, she created a different way of holding the bow and became the first person with that disability to try archery. She is also really keen on encouraging other people with disabilities to try archery.”

Kieran Logendra

It sounds like an incredible experience, and we wondered if there were any downsides to the job? Kieran admits, “The only challenging bit of the filming was the early starts and long journeys to get to the shooting locations, which were all over the country, but the experiences were definitely worth it!”

We’re looking forward to seeing Kieran in action when his interviews come out on Nickelodeon ahead of The Paralympic Games of Paris 2024 which run from 28 August until 8 September.

Kieran says, “Watch out for the colourful surprise at the end the archery shoot!”
