Nickelodeon France Buys Rights To The Doodlebops

GMTV signs kids musical combo

UK terrestrial ITV1 is to broadcast Canadian kids producer Cookie Jar Entertainment's preschool musical series The Doodlebops on Saturday mornings.

The show (left) will air on Good Morning TV (GMTV1) at 06.00 from April 7, with a weekday launch on sister channel GMTV2 planned for the summer.

The Doodlebops is already available in the UK on satellite and cable through Playhouse Disney UK.

Cookie Jar claims the colourful costume series aims to bring "rousing musical performances" of original songs and dance to the preschool set, as well as outrageous storylines and wardrobe.

"It has been quite impressive watching the show become a global, pop-culture phenomenon in such a short period of time. Now this musical trio is about to take its place on GMTV, and we couldn’t be more thrilled," said Peter McHugh, GMTV's director of programmes.

The roster of international broadcasters of the series already includes Kids' CBC, Playhouse Disney US, Disney (Australia, Italy, Latin America and others), Nickelodeon France and VRAK TV in Canada.
