Nickelodeon's "Sam & Cat" Unites Iconic "Laverne & Shirley" Comedy Duo In Upcoming Brand New Episode, "#SalmonCat"

Nickelodeon has announced in the following press release, from PRNewswire, the exciting Nickelodeon News that the popular comedy duo Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams, stars of the hit American comedy series "Laverne & Shirley", will reunite on screen in a scripted series for the first time in over 30 years with their upcoming guest appearance on Nickelodeon's brand new buddy sitcom "Sam & Cat".

Marshall and Williams will appear alongside Sam & Cat's funny gals Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande in the all-new episode "#SalmonCat", shooting this week in Los Angeles. In the episode, Sam and Cat are ordered to rename their babysitting business because it's too similar to "Salmon Cat," a TV show from the 1970s. Sam and Cat must track down the show's two original creators (played by Marshall and Williams) and resolve their three decade-long feud, which the Associated Press (AP) news agency says in a second article, also below, via Yahoo! News, may refer to the long-ago rumors of a "Laverne & Shirley" rivalry. It is currently unknown when "#SalmonCat" will premiere on television:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The leading ladies of "Laverne & Shirley" are reuniting.

Nickelodeon said Wednesday that Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams will guest star in an episode of its new sitcom "Sam & Cat."
The actresses starred as 1950s and '60s pals and roommates Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney, workers in a Milwaukee brewery. The sitcom aired from 1976 to 1983 on ABC.

"Sam & Cat" features Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande as friends who start a baby-sitting business.

Nickelodeon says Marshall and Williams will start filming on Wednesday. They play characters involved in a decades-old feud, tweaking the long-ago rumors of a "Laverne & Shirley" rivalry.

"Sam & Cat" creator Dan Schneider says it was an honor to write for what he called TV's" funniest female roommates" ever.
