Paw Patrol Live: "The Great Pirate Adventure" is a music-filled production that follows the heroic pups as they embark on a pirate-themed adventure to uncover hidden treasure.

In “The Great Pirate Adventure,” Mayor Goodway is getting everything shipshape for a big Pirate Day celebration in Adventure Bay. When Cap’n Turbot falls into a dark and mysterious cavern, it’s Paw Patrol to the rescue. Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Skye, Rocky and Zuma save Cap’n Turbot and discover a secret pirate treasure map that leads them on an epic adventure.

Brandon Delsid plays the character of Chase, who fancies himself the leader of the Paw Patrol.

“The Paw Patrol is a team of pups who work with their leader Ryder to protect the community of Adventure Bay,” he told Centre Daily Times. “In this story, we’re on a wild and fun adventure to find Long John Larry’s long-lost treasure.”

During the summer, Delsid auditioned for Paw Patrol Live from Los Angeles.

“I had dreamt of working with VStar Entertainment Group and Nickelodeon, the producers of Paw Patrol Live, and getting to be a part of the creation of a brand-new musical,” he said. “I wanted to be a part of this amazing brand and bring joy to kids across America.”

Paw Patrol Live follows the first live show “Race to the Rescue,” which is touring through 2018. “The Great Pirate Adventure” includes two acts and an intermission, and incorporates an innovative costume approach to help bring the pups to life on stage as well as their vehicles and packs during the adventure. The performance is interactive, engaging audiences to learn pirate catchphrases, dance the pirate boogie and help the pups follow the treasure map and solve picture puzzles during their mission.

For Delsid, getting to be part of this new show from the ground up has been an honor.

“It’s been a lot of hard work and dedication, and seeing the kids’ faces in the audience is such an immediate reward for all the work that goes into it,” he said. “Everything, from the sets to the costumes to the props, have been handmade and crafted for this show. It’s a one of a kind live experience you don’t want to miss.”

The show also aims to teach important lessons like kindness, teamwork and bravery and does it in a relatable and exciting way. The costumes are also particularly unique, as they are not your typical stage costumes.

“They really bring the pups to life — they blink their eyes, wag their tails and sing and dance on four paws,” Delsid said. “I also think the sets, music and overall performance sets us apart from other theater productions and will leave a lasting memory for young fans who come to see us.”

Delsid expects the tour to continue to be very successful and an adventure for both parents and their children alike.

“Children have been eating it up, and there’s nothing like seeing your first musical,” he said. “In such a technologically-driven age, live theater is so important to expose our young ones to. It teaches them empathy, compassion, teamwork, citizenship and so many other life lessons that they will carry with them.”
