Is 'Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' the Best in the Franchise? | Animation Investigation

Some fans were not happy when they saw the first images from Nickelodeon‘s newest animated series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The fourth TV show in the iconic TMNT franchise was offering a very different version our favorite pizza-loving green teens, and any time you put a new spin on a beloved classic, fans are going to be wary (case in point: 2016's Ghostbusters: Answer the Call - we need a sequel, guys!). But now that the show has finally debuted, a lot of fans are thinking the show has the potential to be one of the franchise’s best yet. On this week’s Animation Investigation Nerdist explains the three reasons you should be excited for the latest take on the Turtles, and one of them has everything to do with the reason they look so different.

Join host Hector Navarro (with the aid of only the tiniest of spoilers) as he describes how new villains, a gorgeous animation style featuring incredible action sequences and stunning backgrounds, and a brilliant twist on the Turtles themselves have opened up exciting possibilities for the latest small screen adaptation of the greatest sewer-dwelling superheroes ever.

Having Raph, Leo, Donnie, and Mikey all look different because they are each a different types of real-life turtle is such a great idea that its hard to believe it took that long to come up with it.

So will this new take on these popular reptiles (yes, Hector heard you all loud and clear about his mistake in the episode about TMNT ripoffs) be the best iteration of the characters yet? It's hard to know for sure at the moment, but the fact it has the potential to be has fans saying, “Cowabunga!”

What do you think of these new changes? Are you still wary about this new show, or are you ready to dig into it like a pizza? Tell me why in the comments section below!
