Nickelodeon Benelux to Premiere 'Niko and the Sword of Light' on Sunday 20th October 2019

Nickelodeon Benelux has acquired the rights to Niko and the Sword of Light, and will premiere the Amazon Studio's popular original animated series on Nickelodeon Netherlands (Nederland) on Sunday 20th October 2019 at 17:55 uur and on Nickelodeon Flanders at 17:45 uur! The series will launch with double episodes. Although currently unconfirmed, it is thought that the series will also launch on Nickelodeon Wallonia around the same time.

Niko and the Sword of Light follows 10-year-old Niko, the last of his kind in a strange, fantastical world, as he embarks on an epic quest to defeat the darkness and bring the light back to his land. Armed with his magic sword, brave Niko journeys to the Cursed Volcano, making new friends and powerful foes along the way, all while uncovering secrets about his mysterious past.

The series is based on the motion graphic comic by Imaginism Studios — which delivered character and concept designs for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and Men in Black 3 — and Studio NX (The Carrot and Rabbit Show, Tree Fu Tom). Animation is provided by Titmouse, Inc. (TMNT Summer Shorts, Breadwinners, Metalocalypse, Turbo FAST). Robe Hoegee (Generator Rex, Teen Titans) serves as executive producer and showrunner.

Niko and the Sword of Light originally premiered on Amazon Video, and ran for 23 episodes (plus one pilot episode) over two seasons between July 20, 2017 - September 6, 2019.
