Nickelodeon has teamed up with Kidrobot to create a new collectible figurine in honor of SpongeBob SquarePants' 20th Anniversary.

The new Kidrobot x Nickelodeon Sea Sponge SpongeBob SquarePants Abrasive Sponge 8" Art Figure is inspired by an episode of Nickelodeon's beloved animated series series titled "The Abrasive Side". The figure also has flexible arms that can be posed in a variety of positions. It is available now for $64.99 through the Kidrobot website.

"Ahoy there, matey! Kidrobot and Nickelodeon take everyone’s favorite sponge from his undersea pineapple and into the world of collectible art! In honor of SpongeBob SquarePants' 20th Anniversary, Best Year Ever celebration, the Kidrobot x Nickelodeon 8-inch SpongeBob SquarePants Sea Sponge art figure reimagines what it means to be a sponge on a shelf.  This Sea Sponge SpongeBob Art Figure is inspired by "The Abrasive Side" episode featuring a real abrasive sponge inside a sealed transparent shell and SpongeBob’s Abrasive face. This SpongeBob art figure's arms are articulated so he can strike your favorite pose. Soak up this art figure to clean up your to your collection!"

SpongeBob SquarePants debuted on Nickelodeon in 1999 and has been going strong for two decades. The series follows the titular sponge as he balances his job at the Krusty Krab burger shack and his relationships with his neighbors and friends in the underwater town of Bikini Bottom.

In "The Abrasive Side", which aired during Season 7, SpongeBob's pet snail Gary orders his owner an actual abrasive sponge -- which is designed for doormat sponges like SpongeBob to stick on their back to help them say no to anyone that needs their help. As the episode unfolds, SpongeBob's new abrasive side makes disparaging remarks to his friends. Ultimately, Sandy the Squirrel helps SpongeBob return to his natural state by ripping the abrasive sponge off his back. The episode ends with SpongeBob realizing that his grandmother also ordered an abrasive side and screaming, "No!"

Other toys available for preorder via Kidrobot as part of Nickelodeon's Best Year Ever celebration include the the SpongeBob SquarePants Patrick Star Art Figure - NYCC Iridescent Edition ($64.99); the SpongeBob & Patrick BFFs Vinyl Art Figure ($69.99); and the SpongeBob Patrick Star with Ice Cream HugMe Plush ($34.99).

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run stars Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Rodger Bumpass and Clancy Brown, with Awkwafina and Keanu Reeves. The film -- which serves as the third film installment in the franchise -- is streaming globally on Netflix (excluding the U.S., Canada and China) and will receive a premium video-on-demand and CBS All Access/Paramount+ release in the United States in early 2021. Nickelodeon's SpongeBob prequel, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, is also scheduled to debut on Paramount+ in 2021. That series will follow a 10-year-old SpongeBob and center on his adventures at sleep-away camp. The voice cast of the original series will also reprise their roles for the prequel.
