'Big Nate' Featured on Nickelodeon's 'Tooned In' Season 2

Nickelodeon treated viewers to another look at Big Nate during the season two premiere of the network's hit cartoon trivia competition series, Tooned In on Friday, Sept. 18! A picture of Nate and the show's logo was included in the "Climb or Slime" segment:

Based on the best-selling children’s books, written and drawn by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce, this new TV series will feature brand-new original storylines centered on Nate, a precocious 11-year-old boy, and his mischievous shenanigans that usually result in disaster, detention or both. Big Nate was slated to premiere during September 2021 on Nickelodeon, however, it looks like Nick has postponed the launch of the series.

A listing for the upcoming book Big Nate: Aloha! earlier this summer revealed that Nickelodeon may be planning to launch Big Nate on the linear Nick TV channel and on the Paramount+ streaming service!

According to the synopsis for Big Nate: Aloha! on the Barnes & Noble websiteBig Nate is a "[s]oon to be an animated series with Paramount+ and Nickelodeon!", which suggests that the series will debut on both platforms.

At the moment, it's unclear on whether the series will bow on both platforms at the same time, or on one platform before the other. Nickelodeon and ViacomCBS are increasingly moving towards a launch strategy where a new series debuts on Paramount Plus prior to premiering on linear TV. Nickelodeon's Rugrats revival and SpongeBob SquarePants spin-off Kamp Koral launched on the streaming service earlier this year, prior to their linear premieres on Nickelodeon, and Nickelodeon's upcoming CG-animated Star Trek: Prodigy will bow on Paramount+ on October 28 ahead of its TV debut.
