Seth Rogen's TMNT Movie Will Feature 'CG with 2D Accents'

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are set to leap back onto the big screen with a brand new CG-animated movie "The Next Chapter" from Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver - and to celebrate, attendees of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival were given a first look at the film during Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation's special presentation.

During the presentation, new film from director Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines), via video message, gave attendees a “Peek under the shell” at the style of the film, which Laughing Place reveals will be CG with 2D accents.

Jeff further revealed that he inspired by sketches he made in school notebooks as a teenager and wanted the film to evoke that same type of feeling. From the brief bit of animation shown, Laughing Place notes that it felt reminiscent of the look of Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This film is scheduled for release in theaters on August 4th, 2023.
