Jamie Lynn Spears Hints That 'Zoey 101' Reboot Is Still In The Works

Are you ready?

The first two seasons of Nickelodeon's beloved noughties comedy Zoey 101 recently hit Netflix, with the series climbing the streamer's Top 10 list as old and new fans alike discover the series on the platform, and as the show gains popularity once again, Jamie Lynn Spears, who played Zoey Brooks in the show, has hinted that the story isn't over yet!

In Zoey 101, teenager Zoey settles in at her new boarding school in Malibu and makes a wide range of new friends. The Pacific Coast Academy (PCA) used to be a boys-only school, and since the girls have arrived, so has the romance. Zoey and roommates find their way together facing teen topics from a light-hearted perspective.

The series ran for four seasons between 2005 and 2008, and starred Jamie Lynn Spears as Zoey Brooks; Sean Flynn as Chase Matthews; Erin Sanders as Quinn Pensky; Chris Massey as Michael Barret; Logan Reese as Matthew Underwood; Paul Butcher as Dustin Brooks; Kristin Herrera as Dana Cruz; Alexa Nikolas as Nicole Bristow; Victoria Justice as Lola Martinez; and Austin Butler, who is currently melting hearts in the Elvis biopic, as James Garrett.

With the series recently dropping on Netflix, fans understandably went crazy over the box set, prompting the actor to note on Instagram that the show made it to the Top 10 on the streaming platform.

Now, 14 years on from the series ending and the 31-year-old has vowed that the 'story isn’t finished'.

She wrote on Instagram: “Umm, so Zoey is Top 10 on Netflix! This show, and the fans of this show mean the absolute world to me.

“I know y’all have been patiently waiting, so all I’m gonna say is I PROMISE this story isn’t finished…”

A Zoey 101 reboot has actually been in the works for quite some time now, with the cast reuniting in 2020 for an All That sketch, in which Jamie Lynn reprised her iconic character "Thelma Stump." The reunion was to see if the cast would still work well together for a Zoey 101 reboot.

The following October, Jamie hosted The Follow Me (Zoey 101) Experience - The Legacy Continues, a live stream event which included a new version of the show's iconic theme song, "Follow Me," which also featured social media influencers popular today.

In 2015, fans were to treated to finally finding out what Zoey said in the "Time Capsule" episode. In the episode, the Pacific Coast Academy gang have to decide what to put in a time capsule that represented themselves. Zoey chose to make a DVD, explaining what all of her friends meant to her. Desperate to hear what Zoey said about him, Chase started to dig up the time capsule, seeing if his "one true love" loved him back. But, he stopped after realizing it was wrong to watch Zoey's DVD without her knowing, and buried it back.

Jamie Lynn has previously said that she wanted her daughter Maddie to star in the Zoey 101 reboot, and she wants Zoey and Chase to have a "happy ending" in the revival.

Update (12/10) - A listing for Zoey 102 has appeared on Production Weekly.
