Nickelodeon's Beloved 'Blue's Clues' Hosts Reunite This Weekend in New 'Blue's Clues & You!' Episode and TV Premiere of 'Blue's Big City Adventure'

NICKELODEON'S BELOVED BLUE'S CLUES HOSTS REUNITE THIS WEEKEND IN BRAND-NEW BLUE'S CLUES & YOU! EPISODE AND TV PREMIERE OF THE PARAMOUNT+ ORIGINAL FILM BLUE'S BIG CITY ADVENTURE

Kids and families can spend the holiday weekend with the Blue's Clues crew, as Nickelodeon debuts a brand-new episode of Blue's Clues & You! and the Paramount+ original feature-length movie Blue's Big City Adventure--both featuring all three beloved hosts, Josh Dela Cruz, Steve Burns and Donovan Patton.

"The Case of the Missing Thinking Chair," premiering Friday, May 26, at 11:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon, follows Josh and Blue as they embark on a puzzling quest to find the missing Thinking Chair. With a mystery this huge, they need to call in the Blueprints Detective Agency for Steve's help in solving the case. This episode is written and directed by Burns, who will also reprise his role of Steve. Former Blue's Clues star Donovan Patton also joins the fun in reprising his role as Joe, Steve's brother and Josh's cousin on the series.

Then, Blue's Big City Adventure, the feature-length musical spectacular, will make its TV debut Monday, May 29, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The Paramount+ original movie launched on the streaming platform last November and features all-new songs and choreography, along with special star appearances by BD Wong, Ali Stroker, Taboo, Alex Winter, Phillipa Soo and Steven Pasquale.

Blue's Big City Adventure follows Josh (Dela Cruz), who gets the opportunity of a lifetime to audition for Rainbow Puppy's Broadway musical, and Blue (Traci Paige Johnson) as they skidoo to New York City where they meet new friends and discover the magic of music, dance and following one's dreams. The entire Blue's Clues crew is reunited for this special movie event, with fan-favorite animated friends--Rainbow Puppy (Brianna Bryan), Mr. Salt (Nick Balaban), Mailbox (Doug Murray), Tickety Tock (Ava Augustin) and Slippery Soap (Jacob Soley)--and all three hosts together for the first time in the Big Apple.

Fans may remember that Burns served as the children's series host from 1996 to 2002 and would later be replaced by Donovan Patton as Steve's brother Joe before Dela Cruz took over hosting duties in 2019.

Both Burns and Patton have been warmly welcomed back to the world of Blue's Clues by millennials and their kids. In 2021, Burns surprised now-adult fans of the series -- which debuted in 1996 -- with a heartfelt apology on social media for his abrupt 2002 departure from the series.

He even took to late night to offer The Late Show host Stephen Colbert a hug

The 49-year-old later opened up in a candid interview with Variety about his decision to walk away from the children's program and keep a low profile in the years that followed. Now, he says, reuniting with the lovable animated pup on screen feels right.

"I've never enjoyed being Steve more than I do now," he shared. "I get to wear a trench coat. It's like Grover-meets-Columbo -- a clown character. That's really freeing somehow."

The trio shared with PEOPLE in December that they have maintained a close relationship throughout the show's development.

"We really are friends," explained Burns to PEOPLE. "We actually do see each other socially. And we would be friends even if we weren't on the show, I think if we met." Dela Cruz echoed the same sentiments while also praising Burns for the warm welcome that began from the moment he first auditioned for the role.

"Steve ambushed me at my audition," revealed Dela Cruz. "He emerged from the curtains, and I was like, 'Hey, Steve.' What I loved about that interaction was that as soon as he opened his mouth, I felt calm, I felt like I belonged there, and I felt taken seriously."

"Then getting to know Steve and Donovan on a personal level beyond that was so freaking cool because we are cut from the same cloth," he explained. "We're cousins on the show, and it's like a family reunion every time we get together, but the family that you love to see."
