The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles May Be Landing Into 'Fortnite' Very Soon

A mixture of leaks and in-game evidence are pointing to Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello joining the battle royale game in the near-future

TMNT x Fortnite

Rumors and leaks are pointing to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles potentially appearing in Fortnite for Chapter 4 Season 4's first big collab.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) are having a shell of a summer, mainly thanks to the Seth Rogen-produced animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem releasing in theaters. The Heroes in a Half-Shell also appeared in the Street Fighter 6 x TMNT crossover, and have a starring role in the upcoming Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2. Then there's 2022's fantastic beat 'em up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge which just got a new DLC expansion this week.

Now, after all of the hysteria about the Squidward Fortnite skin bringing SpongeBob SquarePants to the game; it turns out people may have been looking at the wrong Nickelodeon show, as signs are pointing to a TMNT x Fortnite crossover happening during Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4.

Fortnite leaker @leaksxdefiant posted a thread on X/Twitter pointing to the mounting evidence of a TMNT Fortnite collab. The thread collects all of the supporting evidence that's also been cite by reputable Twitter accounts, including the Augment info from @iFireMonkey as well as the Fungus Ninja code.

First off an upcoming skin was found in the files with the title 'FungusNinja' which – like we learned with the Anakin Skywalker Star Wars skin being called 'PlotTwist' – sometimes codenames can be very obvious. Leakers are also saying that 'FungusNinja' simplifies into 'MutantNinja'. When Fortnite Chapter 4 first arrived players found a manhole cover in Slappy Shores which made strange noises when it was approached. Now, with Chapter 4 Season 4 there's suddenly a Pizza Shop with arcade machines inside (for those unaware the Turtles love video games and pizza, naturally) next to said manhole cover.

The first is that a codename 'FungusNinja'  has recently popped up in the code. Sometimes these codes mean nothing, but the code for Anakin Skywalker was PlotTwist, meaning Epic does sometimes have fun with the codes. Players have also noticed several different changes to Slappy Shores. First, there was a sewer making a weird noise at the location. Now, there's a pizza shop with an arcade machine in that same POI. Again, that doesn't confirm anything, but it does continue to add to the speculation.

Other evidence pointing to this collab focuses on Fortnite's Reality Augments – which are perks that you can activate as a match goes on. An upcoming one of these Augments is called 'Ninja Training', while the existing 'Pizza Party' augment is set to return very soon. As @leaksxdefiant points out, Fortnite isn't against unvaulting items and abilities to match skin drops as the Lever Action Shotgun made a return when the Terminator skin arrived during Chapter 4 Season 3.

@leaksxdefiant has a pretty solid track record when it comes to leaks and this one, in particular, has been parroted by some of the bigger Fortnite leak accounts on Twitter.

It'll be interesting to see what iteration of the TMNT Fortnite decides to go with for skins. If past crossovers (like the aforementioned Street Fighter 6 and Nickelodeon All Star Brawl crossovers) are any indication it'll be their 1987 series or 1990 film iterations, but it would be cool if the other variants got some love.

Leakers are claiming that the FungusNinja skin is only one skin, which means we could end up with one TMNT Fortnite skin which has a variant for each turtle, which would be a solid deal – and certainly better than Street Fighter 6 which charges £11 / $15 / AU$24 for each costume.

The leakers also point to it lining up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge getting its DLC and TMNT: Mutant Mayhem getting its digital release. Plus, TMNT leaves Fall Guys on August 31st, meaning the property might be looking to extend its marketing cycle with a new game.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 launched on August 25 and includes all of the new weapons and items fans have come to expect. You'll also be able to earn several new skins as you work your way through the battle pass. TikTok star Khaby Lame is the big crossover skin in the pass, and Ahsoka Tano is going to be added somewhere down the line. Fans say that Fish Thicc might be the best skin in the pass.

The story behind the season is that a vampire named Kado Thorne has taken over the island, lavishing himself with new houses. Your job is to steal it all back from Thorne and save the island. Of course, you'll also have the option to use Thorne's skin yourself if you make it all the way through the battle pass.
